  1. Two VERY, VERY heart-felt infantry requests: 1. That they should be able to turn to face another direction while remaining on their tummies, and not have to stand up and give away their position. (And often get killed as a result) 2. That if an enemy vehicle approaches from behind, the AI turns them to face the threat and engages it if necessary. Preferably when they hear it, but DEFINITELY when it comes into view. Last night in Red Tide, a BTR-80 that had slipped through our lines drove past my rifle and HMG platoons at about 50m range. They ignored it. When I manually turned them to face it, they stood up and - you guessed it - got mowed down. I am trying to become a bit of a Mech Inf specialist. but their behaviour is SO bizarre at times I'm tempted to give up.
  2. Foxtrot AT Platoon if possible please.
  3. Negative. Tonight will happen regardless. And will probably last until tomorrow morning. That seems to be normal arrangement.
  4. The above message has also been posted on the SimHQ website where there are a number of potential players - both British and European. It will be interesting to see if we get any response. But it looks very much as if all the 'Brits' who hang out here in the SB forum are either already in UKA or not interested. If you are one of the latter, I'm keen to know your opinion. UKA was formed to facilitate online play for those in the European time zones for whom the established German units - and others - might not be suitable. Actually, we had several people respond to our original recruting drive, some of whom never showed up to any of our sessions despite being warmly invited, and others who showed up once or twice, then dropped out. I can't believe that was because we were unwelcoming. It has been suggested that many people try SB on the usual trial basis and like it very much, but think $125 for the full dongle version is excessive compared with other lesser games/sims. Can't do much about that.
  5. So many to chose from - could take a while.
  6. Understood. Round here they would put 20 wheel clamps on each side. But I don't think they'd last long once you put it in gear. I'd love to have one in my garden as I live close to RAF Wittering airbase. Oh, but I forgot - there aren't any planes there any more thanks to defence cuts. Don't know why the UK bothers with armed forces. There are barely enough to provide security for the Olympics.
  7. May thanks for the links and other info. Fascinating.
  8. Firstly, it may appear that UK Armour has a new Junior Member C.O called Tjay, but it's just the old one (me) with a new registered name which required a new account being set up. Recently, three members have requested to be transferred to the reserve due to RL issues, so I'm looking for up to six new ones. We are a young unit, which I formed in January of this year (after I'd been playing SB for at least a fortnight!) as no UK-based virtual unit appeared to exist. So effectively I'm C.O courtesy of excessive initiative. Fortunately, we have several more experienced players and a VERY experienced and talented training officer. Not to mention a cracking website expert in Alboots. Crusty is 2 i/c and Marko x.o. On the first anniversary of our formation all three executive posts will be subject to democratic selection. We conduct sessions twice a week on Wednesday and Sunday evenings at 20:00Z (GMT) and look to combine satisfaction and pure enjoyment through a mix of training and operational scenarios. And to strike a balance between military protocol and informal banter. Humour is positively encouraged when off the battlefield. There is no official minimum attendance requirement but at least once a fortnight is expected. Mostly we use the Challenger 2 MBT and the Pizarro APC (standing in for the Warrior). We also use the ASLAV for reconnaissance. So most of our in-house scenarios are modified to reflect that. But for obvious reasons we also keep current on the Leopard 2 and the M1. UKA is in no way 'Brit exclusive' and we welcome players from all nationalities for whom the time slot is convenient. If you are interested, please visit our website at www.ukarmour.eu or pm me here.
  9. I noticed - but thanks. Have resized it but it may now be too small.
  10. My pulse remains at its resting rate. My blood pressure hasn't flickered. I am ready.
  11. Many thanks Sean. Much appreciated.
