  3. WARNING ORDER. TS Server: teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=UK+Armour+31%2F01%2F16&iso=20160131T19&p1=%3A Our job is to attack immediately north towards highway 6 and destroy enemy flank guard units, then attack the enemy regiment's flank to reduce pressure on Inf Btn 107.
  4. NARRATIVE AAR An excellent evening and a highly successful mission. We fielded 3 plts of Leos with all seats bar one filled, plus a plt of CV90s with all seats filled. Plus 1 x C.O and 1 x F.O makes 17 present. First MP for Danish Squid and first time with UKA for Wiglif. We hope they will choose to become regular members. Due to the large numbers the original mission as depicted on the Warning Order map had to be expanded with a wider front and much stiffer opposition. Excellent commanding by Swordsman saw the mission accomplished with the loss of 3 tanks and 1 CV90 and 1 CV90 immobilised during the final assault on the first objective. The video by Duke - complete with TS soundtrack gives a detailed account for those interested. The SB .aar file can be found here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/37947215/Upd_Clearing%20Fj%C3%A4rrby%20V6%20Final_012416GAMES_11917.rar

    BEER

I see The Four Horsemen describes itself as a bar, not a pub. Which probably explains it. :clin:
  6. World-wide political clout. George Osborne. Austerity. Balancing the budget. Gonna be tricky. :c:
  7. Roger. I certainly haven't done anything other than change the vehicles. Which suggests that we are not withdrawing in time and concentrating on avoiding combat with enemy units crossing the causeway. Had we done that, perhaps we would have met our replacements coming to relieve us. Will give it another go in a few weeks to check out that aspect. I was thinking of doing this with British kit, but as a CR2 in full flight can be outrun by a T72 in reverse perhaps not.
  8. At one time UKA had an associated outfit called Soviet V.U - originally instigated by Marko. I say associated because although it met on a different night the personnel overlap was about 90%. The basic idea was that UKA would be more efficient if we understood the hardware and doctrine we were fighting. The doctrine is important. You can't simply swap out NATO gear for WP in a scenario and expect it to work. The quality vs quantity aspect has to be replicated - otherwise it's a walkover for Blue. Dark Angel was the resident expert. Every now and then we would conduct head-to-head missions with Dark + one or two of the best Opfor guys on the Red side, each handling at least a company. (Handling a company of BTR80s with all troops dismounted and then picking them up in good order and moving to the next objective is not so easy). But as Hedge says, Tank Hunter is now the 'go to' man for WP stuff.
  9. Rhys, I gather the reinforcement bit still doesn't work, which is why we opted to make a stand on the west side of the causeway rather than doing runner and hoping to meet our replacements moving up in the opposite direction. Any chance of fixing that? IMHO it would place extra emphasis on withdrawing in time and in good order rather than a 'die in place' finale. Really looking forward to the final version of Gerhausen.
  10. Major Duck has been informed and will surely update the manning list shortly. :clin:
  11. Rgr. How did it go this time? Would very much like to run this on a UKA evening but will hold off 'til you send me the finished item :clin: Btw, you will see that we had a blast with your CT Heavy Delay mission last Sunday. Most of our Scandinavian contingent hadn't seen it before. The randomness you have built in makes it very 'replayable'.
  12. As the article makes clear, upgrading the CR2 - described by some as 'a cold war relic' to modern(ish) standards is going to be extremely, err, challenging - which is a euphemism for very expensive and time consuming. Political considerations apart, the more sensible route would seem to be to scrap it and buy the latest version of the Leo or even the M1A2. Or maybe the Leclerc; that would be a politically astute move IMHO.

  14. Not everybody goes there, and this was new information from Defense Industry Daily, so I thought I'd post it here. Sorry if that offended you.
  15. A good evening. Main lesson learned was that Mech Inf operations that require IFVs/APCs to drop dismounts at predetermined OPs/LPs, get the vehicles into a safe area, and then position the dismounts so they can provide useful intelligence to the C.O re advancing enemy without getting themselves killed, is something that needs specific training. Especially if the IFV in question is the CV9035-DK. :c: Effective coordination between the tanks and infantry is a lot more difficult than it looks, and requires extensive practice to perfect.

  17. Youtube link works for me now. This was a mission involving a tense deployment and waiting period followed but heavy engagement and eventual withdrawal. Those wishing to 'cut straight to the chase' are advised to skip the first 30min.
  18. Thank you MD. I knew I'd forgotten something...
  19. Platoon training session (Leo and CV90) this Wednesday. No advanced briefing or map. Just turn up and grab a ride. :clin:
  20. Just make a Reply post to bid for a slot and Major Duck will add names by editing the document.
