  1. LOL, good analogy, Lego tanks!! At 3km you really are shooting at heat blobs with these 1st gen thermal sights. Thanks for the information guys, learned something new as I didn't realise the M60A3 had a better thermal sight. And I agree with Volcano, it would be a nice feature to set up the sights for focus and for thermal to adjust gain and contrast if the sights have that option in the real vehicle.
  2. Hi Ssnake, Thanks for the tip, I tried all of the CV90's, Pizarro, NZLAV-IMV, Challenger2, ASLAV-25, Centarro and noticed some differences in magnification and reticles, but the resolution of the image when zoomed out seems the same to me as the 1st gen sights from the other vehicles. I guess I was expecting the GPS thermal image at 1x with a newer thermal sight to have a better identification range, more resolution and less pixelation than the 1st gen thermal in this sim, unless I'm missing something. There's a big difference with the image intensified sight of the T-72 though, pretty good job, like the scintillation in the image!
  3. Hey guys, When I use the various vehicles like the Bradley, or M1, or the Leopard tanks, it doesn't seem to change how the thermal imagers look when detecting targets. Does anyone know if there's any plans in the future to have different quality thermal sights? Or if there's any mods that can change how the thermal sights look? For comparison, here's a photo of the M1A1's 1st gen thermal sight, photo below is from circa 1988 from a 3rd Armored division M1A1. Contrast that with the thermal image from an M-60A3 looking at another nearby M-60A3 taken in 1984 Now look at the thermal images provided by the Leopard 2 Below is a Leopard 2A4 thermal image. From the photos above and the Leopard 2A4 images Steel Beasts has this spot on!! Video of M1A2 SEP viewer: I was looking for some variation in this sim regarding the simulation of lower resolution 1st gen thermal vs. the higher resolution and sensitivity 2nd gen thermal viewers. Perhaps a gain and contrast control to allow the user to adjust the thermal sights to their preference? For instance I used to turn the gain down on my thermal and the contrast all the way up to immediately spot objects that were vastly different in themperature between the background, but my thermal sight wasn't cooled or more sensitive like a tank thermal though. Also always wondered about special paints as countermeasures on the tanks to reduce thermal visibility as demonstrated here: http://www.defensereview.com/intermat-anti-thermalir-camo-tech-for-infantry-and-special-operations-forces/ Or if in the future SB Pro can implement some active IR countermeasures systems and such for defence against ATGM? Sorry for the questions, ground warfare is pretty complex when you get into it.
  4. I think you guys nailed it for easy 100% accuracy. It's the Bradley. Set it up for firing TOW's. Use thermal sights and as soon as you see the next target zoom in and fire as fast as possible, guide the TOW and bingo! On my first try my time wasn't so great, but after seeing how the targets pop up and preparing I did get just under 7 seconds and 100% score. Now I can jump into the user scenarios and my AI gunners will be better Thanks everyone for the help!
  5. Yea, I have to admit Tjay when I tried the HESH round and lased and fired, but waited 7 seconds (an eternity) for the round to get out there only to miss.... I laughed. Hey Hunt3r, I've used the CV9035, but not with the airburst setting. How do I select the round to airburst? I also fire the 35mm on the CV90 from a closed bolt.
  6. Thanks for the suggestions guys!! I went back and tried the Challenger, but being an American for me it has a rather unique way about it that I can't quite put my finger on, and my accuracy suffered for it, never getting above 60% lol. The M1A1, also has a special way about it, but I did get a better score with it for some reason. I think it's because when the reticle moves I know that the gun is ready to fire at that range, whereas on the Leopard tanks I'm not quite sure the gun is tracking properly at the lased range, but I like the dynamic lead they use. I got a 97% with the M1A1, so it must be my lucky Tank! Thonar, don't apologize for your English, it's better than mine sometimes lol.
  7. Hey guys, I've been enjoying 2.6 for a few days now, but have a question about the gunnery range. How can I get a better score? LOL, it seems I've tried everything. I used the mouse at first, but the best I get is 80% Switched over to the joystick, and the best I got was 91% which was achieved with the Leopardo 2E. And I've tried so many other tanks and IFV's, but just can't seem to break the 91% barrier I've created for myself. So, any tips on what vehicles and/or ammunition combinations helped you exceed a 90% gunnery rating? Or perhaps increased your acquisition time from my rather sad 16 seconds.
  8. Thanks for that JohnO, I noticed it seems the fog looks better, but things did seem to have a greener and darker tint to it. I played a really great scenario "Autobahn Wars Pt.2" with the ENB mod, but I have to admit it got a little low in the framerates, there's a LOT going on in that scenario
  9. lol, that's what I'm trying to figure out. I just can't tell if it's working or not. I seem to recall a few years back some of the other members here had used the ENB mods with Steel Beasts, maybe someone can help clarify.
  10. Just adding my support for an M1A2 SEP as well.
  11. Hey thanks for that Sean, I put the files in and the sim will start now, says ENB series and a version in the top left corner when starting up in green lettering. But how do I toggle the mod on and off? is it Shift+Backspace?
  12. Hey guys, I came across a few older posts that showed how to use the ENB mod with Steel Beasts Pro PE, but I'm unable to get it work with version 2.654 Is there any way to get the ENB mod to work with the latest version of Steel Beasts Pro PE? For reference, here's a link to the ENB mod for Steel Beasts Pro, but it must be for an older version, because Pro PE 2.6 crashes when I put the files in the folder it specified with the simulation executable. All works well as soon as those files are deleted though. http://theantisocialgamer.blogspot.com/2011/07/enb-series-steelbeasts.html#!/2011/07/enb-series-steelbeasts.html
