  1. Btw.. on scimitar there is really nice wide field of view available too that greatly improves target acquisition. It's Alt+F4 and There's probably even Reticle illumination available on that... Or perhaps it was on warrior on same view. Btw.. alt+F4 on SB is not a joke. It really works and is useful on some vehicles like cv90s, warrior and Scimitar.
  2. Id recommend you to try it at your earliest convenience to see that and how it works and to get used to it. (I probably should too..) - I suppose in theory.. with that button you could have squad leader to go ahead of team a little distance to observe (one guy is harder to spot) or to engage with RPG (smaller target) [In real life (Finnish defence forces) anti tank team does it as pair. First one shoots, and other one fires if target was missed or not destroed]
  3. Umm... similar cases I have seen have been usually because PC theyre mounting or dismounting moves a little during the process? witch usually causes all troops to be ejected out... they should take orders though. Not taking orders.. I think there is button for infantry squad "L" (like Leader) by default? That makes infantry either to follow or not to follow leader.. or in other words.. gives you command of squad leader only, leaving others ... idle and unresponsive unless told to follow leader? <- would need to check that from Esims.. because I have only ever used that feature like 2 times... >.< so I don't really remember. You can find it from infantry menu as well I think.
  4. Thank you for joining in. Much appreciated. Hopefully you had good time and will have good morning ahead. I am sorry that you didn't notice that it wasn't obvious that time limit was 45minute.. I will make that more visible on future ones. Also big thank you for everyone who joined in. It was really hectic, and quite messy, but we made it with... what.. only 2 losses? I intend to organice more missions like this on future. Hopefully on every other saturday.. so next one would hopefully be.. 11th of December Not sure if I will do one on 25th.. that sounds like terrible idea <.<
  5. 40+ minutes from now we will start the mission. At https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20211127T16 make sure youre there in time. before that come to Kanium TS that we can set you up if you aren't already Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077
  6. Alright. Sweet. if everyone who have let me know their interest will come. That would be 7 out of 8 leopards. However 2 are from Saber and were used to do multicrew so in theory there could be still 2-3 free leopards.
  7. To be honest, I haven't yet opened mission for testing. Going to start working on that and plan as i get up from bed. I haven't used orders before. So probably no. It is something i will probably try to learn over the time. If you with your special circumstances will be there minute earlier but no later than target time I'm happy. as said. I'll be intending to be going to be strick on people being in time now on. If you're late, you're out. Hard part will be to enforce that to my own guys. But I'll do that. I suppose with you it will be no recording audio so I'll turn off instant replays and deny everyone from recording audio or atleast your audio when you're in chat. Alternatively you could be my platoon as wingman so that could do the trick too. Okay with such?
  8. Chees this reply... Couldn't say it better myself!!! This is what we community members should much more often advertise and highlight to all others It is what makes SB so great and everlasting thing! Also what really matters is that SB is not about fancy and pretty graphics but what works! This game is made ground up! Like heck quite literally. It feels and looks real if not highly detailed.
  9. Okay booking isn't looking as bad anymore as I was thinking it would because of Thanksgiving day that I had not realize would affect so much. Oleg, may join us from former Redalert VU. And I also may get some more from Team Saber. Currently if all goes well, there will be 2 leopard2a5s free before we need to start considering multicrew. Again, if youre interested. Feel free to join. ~
  10. I remember have seen video somewhere where Steelbeast CV9040C was put together with something that looked similar to arma? Basically.. somehow.. Arma infantry was able to get inside Steelbeast AFVs and somehow interact with it a bit? But that was very long time ago.. and I suppose that died, pretty much at beginning, since there was just that one cool video about it.. and thats it, and I think.. even that video is no longer? Still.. I do wish that one day we could get something like that to work out... even when I think it is nearly impossible ever to come to be.
  11. Yeah lot of old scenarios have small problems. Like "trigger ownership" for example. I think that i may just in case play this alone on single player to see that it works to the end to make sure it will work on Saturday too. Or alternatively I'll use @Apocalypse 31 version of this. @Apocalypse 31 I'm curious did you change more than just amount of fuel in helos?
  12. Thank you. Yes i am sorry... Problem with international games and multitude of chedules people have, hence im arranging one that fits me and hopefully many enough others. I'm aware of Steelbeast teamspeak but i wouldn't want bother admins to configure that for possible one time use. + Kanium offered their TS for my use. Perhaps later if these Saturday missions with platoon / multicrew radio needs picks up for regular event, I'd see if it would make sense.
  13. Initial manning list for now. Currently there is 5 confirmed coming and 2 unsure but booked. So we have atleast 3 spare leopard but can have up to 3 leopards available with arrangements for those who do not want to multicrew 1/1A - @Lumituisku (Ghostboat as gunner) 1/2A - @OlegNik (solo) will try to be there 1/4A - @Lusik (likely happy to be gunner) will try to be there 1/3A - Free 2/1A - @TSe419E 2/2A - @Gibsonm 4/2A - reserved (okay to have someone new as gunner) 3/2A - Free

Hi there fellow Steelbeast community members. I am organizing a small mission on Saturday27th at 16:00 GMT - https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20211127T16 Discussion and signing up here.
  15. Hi there fellow Steelbeast community members. I am organizing a small mission on Saturday27th at 16:00 GMT - https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20211127T16 I have asked help from Kanium and they have graciously allowed use of their Teamspeak for this session: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 We will use nevest Steelbeast Pro PE version 4.268 and if there will be more than 7 coming besides me and we end up having some vehicles multicrewed as I am hoping for, they can host the server as well. I have had my eyes on following mission for quite a while. "WINGED DAGGER" Go behind enemy lines to secure an important "package", that if captured, will have a dramatic impact on the outcome of the war between Grenovia and Bremenn. by @Tacbat For futher details Mission can be found from Steelbeast Scenarios / Contest1 / (1st) Winged Dagger Time limit 45minutes, 2x platoons of Leopard 2A5DK (4x each platoon) I will CO the mission by leading 1A platoon and and will make initial plan for our movements. My wishes for you, if you are interested. First signed first served Veterans -> Multicrew is highly encouraged. -> Aka find your most trusted friends to be your crew to have different kind of Steelbeast exprerience. / readiness to allow newcomers to be your gunners if necessary Newcomers / and people new to steelbeast, do not hesitate to sign up to this if you can reliably hit targets on gunnery range with Leopard2s and have basic ability to understand be understood in english. International crews - Atleast commander of crew needs to be able to understand / be understood in english to communicate with rest of platoon / taskforce Following gentleman behaviors are encouraged. Be there early. Mission starts 16:00 GMT even without you. (I am limited by time sorry) Crews only talk on their own radio channel leaving platoon net free of chatter that happens inside the vehicle. Dead don't talk Once your dead wait a bit poke me on TS and I will try to see if there there is free unit / role for you. If not.... um... sadly then it is mission over for you. Please feel free to write your free worded After Action Feedback here on this topic after mission. Let me know by replying to this topic if you are interested to come alone / with crew Sincerely Lumi [Team Saber] --------------------------------------------- -------------- SITUATION: ENEMY: Two weeks ago, Grenovian forces started military operations aimed at annexing the province of Petrolia from the neighbouring country of Bremenn. The recently discovered oil reserves in Petrolia have supplied Bremenn with desperately needed income. Bremenn has been in a state of underdevelopment and near poverty for decades. Grenovia is determined to take control of the oil reserves to fuel it’s own economy. Thus far, Grenovian forces have pushed into the province with remarkable gains. The under funded Breminian military was no match for the stronger Grenovian force. The Grenovians now control nearly 75% of the oil fields, but have stopped momentarily to consolidate their gains, and to plan their final move. Intel reports that an over strength tank company is in your area of operations. It is comprised mainly of T-72's and T-80’s. Their PC support is a mix of BMP-1’s, BMP-2’s and BTR-80’s. They also have BDRM’s for recce/screening. Forward elements of this force have established a temporary base at an abandoned camp, and are patrolling the area on a regular basis. The remainder of the force is located east of the Ada River, but their exact position in unknown. Detected radar emissions from enemy air defence assets should be a good indication of their general location. FRIENDLY: The Breminian Government requested military assistance through NATO shortly after hostilities began. NATO has been slow to respond, but a task force is slowly being assembled. The Canadian Government has already sent two platoons of its newly acquired Leopard 2A5 tanks, which were airlifted into the region. Canada has also sent three platoons of Operators from the Canadian Special Operations Regiment (CSOR), with integral air mobility in the form of three Chinooks from 427 Special Operations Aviation Squadron (SOAS). You are the commander of the tank platoons. Yesterday, Intel reported the presence of a “package” in your area of operations. The details of the “package” are classified SECRET, therefore only the CSOR Operatives know exactly what it is, but it is assessed as being an important part of the Grenovian campaign. Capturing this “package” will greatly contribute to the defence of Petrolia. CSOR elements will attempt to seize the “package”, but they will need armoured support for the plan to succeed. The general concept is to stage a daring raid into enemy held territory, then quickly escape back to friendly lines before the enemy can react. OTHER: All civilians have fled the fighting, so there are no worries about “collateral damage”. Weather has been clear with very good visibility. The terrain is hilly, with open plains and dense forest. Moving through the forest will be slow going and should be avoided. MISSION: You will provide direct fire support to elements of CSOR and escort the “package” to the extraction zone. EXECUTION: Groupings: a) 2 x Tiger attack helicopters from the German Army (Call sign Troubleshooter); b) 3 x Chinook transport helicopters (Call sign Condor); c) 3 x Platoons of CSOR Operators (Call signs Gunfighter 1, 2 & 3); and d) 2 x Platoons of Leopard 2A5 tanks (Call sign Razor) Tasks: This operation will be broken down into three phases: Phase 1 – Move to the suspected location of the “package” Phase 2 – Secure the “package” Phase 3 – Safely exfiltrate the “package” to the extraction zone. Phase 1: "Troubleshooter" will escort "Condor" to the Landing Zones where "Gunfighter" elements will be inserted. Once the insertion has been successful, "Condor" will radio "Razor" to begin their advance to the austere airstrip. "Condor" will then return to base, and "Troubleshooter" will provide air cover for as long as possible, concentrating on engaging enemy armour in the vicinity of the enemy camp. Phase 2: "Gunfighter" elements will mine selected bridges in order to deny them to the enemy. "Gunfighter 2" will search for and secure the "package" in the vicinity of the central landing zone. "Gunfighter 1 and 3" will take up defensive positions to the north and south to prevent enemy forces from disrupting "Gunfighter 2". "Razor" will continue its advance to the austere airstrip and link up with "Gunfighter 2". Phase 3: "Razor" will escort the "package" to the extraction zone. "Gunfighter" elements will remain behind to delay any follow-on enemy forces. They will be extracted by choppers after nightfall. Coordinating Instructions: Indirect fire support is available on call. You will have 12 tubes with HE, ICM and Smoke. SERVICE SUPPORT: Ammo: "Razor" will be armed with the best available KE (Sabot) and HEAT rounds. UAV: A photo has been taken of the target area near the center landing zone. To view it, use the UAV route controls. COMMAND AND SIGNALS: During Phase 1 & 2, you will be in command of "Razor" only. In Phase 3, "Gunfighter" elements will come under your control. Secure comms to be used throughout. No need for codewords/passwords etc. Call signs as per Groupings. NOTES TO PLAYER: - At the beginning of the mission, you can fly along with 2/P, one of the "Condor" Chinooks, to watch the insertion. DO NOT alter the route of the Chinook, otherwise the mission will end. - Wait for the call from "Condor" reporting that the insertion is complete before moving "Razor" forward. If you don't, the tanks will be disabled. An initial route has been plotted for you to waypoints 77 & 78 which will become active automatically when "Razor" is cleared to advance. Plot your routes starting from waypoints 77 &78. "Razor" can be positioned anywhere in the deployment zone. - If the "package" is destroyed, or Trigger 1 is set, the mission will end. - Watch the incoming messages closely. - Once the "package" has been secured and ready for transport, it will come under your control. It will be up to you to decide the best route back to the extraction zone. The remaining infantry will also come under your control at that time, so use them to assist you as required. - Enemy strength is randomized each time, with random routes. Therefore difficulty can range between medium to hard. No one said this was going to be easy. - The mission is winnable even if all of your tanks are lost, as long as the "package" is safely extracted. -Score is based on whether or not the "package" makes it to the extraction zone safely, plus a percentage based on the number of remaining friendly tanks you have left at the end of the mission. - Time limit is 45 min. -Mission can also be played as a co-op. Thanks to Trackpad for testing and evaluation. Regi Patriaeque Fidelis! 16. Umm. I don't know for sure what you mean with that you want to make it easier... so I assume that same way as on cv9035s by removing that automatic turret movement thats speed gunner could control? I just asked about cv9030 from my friend who was driver on one... and turns out that as it was before was correct and authentic way how the Anti-air mode worked. I mean.. where turret would start moving on its own and gunner would only adjust the speed of movement. like here... However... what I was told... about it was that in practice it was horribly difficult to use and atleast my friends gunner preferred to use static target mode <.< The problem apparently was that speeds of targets were such that lead prediction made turret to spin so far ahead that it was really difficult to use in real life. Especially on anything fast flying. He says that every gunner he knows would likely underscripe that it is hellishly hard to use in real life. I suppose problem here is that I am worried if CV9030 will stay authentic to real life in steelbeast in future. I do wish that it would. Because I do love those things that make this sim so hard to master. And that AA mode is one of those things.. that I have felt greatly rewarded having learned it. (although... it is pretty hard and quite useless 97% of the time xD)
  17. Not sure where to reply.. I suppose here because this is where bug is registered.. I just tested. Cv9030 Airtarget mode is still broken as before. Also on cv9035 as well... I think.. because I believe crosshair used to (and is supposed to based on what I read from tutorial?) keep current inputs on.. when gunner centers handle and from that point onwards.. gunner would just make corrections / adjustments based on observed target movements? or cancel with palmswitch and start process again. Just as with cv9030... right? Arguably.. that was something 90% of players didn't understand or bother to learn.. but what I found wonderful, after having learned it and now.... that isn't there on any cv90s. I wonder.. was it taken away on purpose? Doesn't Ulan and Pirantha DF30 work pretty much same way as cv90s used to? I mean.. once tracking process begins.. gunner is supposed to center control and from there on.. to adjust location of croshair? On cv90s.. also speed of target or direction changes.. that can be difficult.. but wasn't that authentic? Are we going to get that back?
  18. Here i hate to check at home if it works... Maybe i have missed this fix. Last time i tested it, it didn't work.. and i think it was right after previous update.
  19. I'm curious... Any estimate when Cv9030 air target mode might get fixed? And nice... Night sky is dark again~
  20. Those words alone mean so much to me. Thank you.
  21. On my first year in my current employer even when i had some years of experience already. I got stuck 6 times with forest machine. Today if i get stuck... I am usually able to unstuck myself without help and such usually only happens once or twice a year. On Steelbeast.. sadly i do have number of shooting at friendly units.. so yes. Stuff happens and SB ai is perhaps bit too good at times. Especially with things like detection and target identification. But again... I don't think that no one of us would want to add... Miss-identification as feature. This colum thingy though that blew my fuse... Finland is very restricted terrain and there traveling in colum formation is kind of necessary. I guess how i will try to solve that is to make 2 routes next to each other without Pathfinding to troublesome area... And pray that it works. Though.. it would be really nice if units could be scripted to detach and attach back to their original platoon if all units are on waypoint? I think that would make task of scripting tank force movements on restricted terrain much nicer.. and also allow quite bit other possibilities such as having supplying force to travel as platoon and then dropping unit after unit to desired locations... Or so. Again... that is yet one more thing to wishlist i suppose.
  22. So there is some checking? And yes I understand, I have over the years observed a lot of AI friendly fire incidents, and while the reasons are as you stated. "Restrictive terrain" "Route planning" What I observed today was a friendly AI leopard wingman driving in front of platoon leaders tank likely due to restrictive terrain (forest on each side of road they were on and big rocks in front of them) and it trying to move to engage enemy it couldn't see but platoon leader could? And worst of all.. platoon leader kept shooting at the immobilized wingman because enemy it tried to destroy stayed operational. And here I am trying to get my head around it... how to prevent that from happening. On that mission and future ones on Finland on narrow roads and boulderish / stony terrain that i suppose is somehow trying to simulate tree stumps? That there is some checking is ansver enough. I had forgotten that more often than not enemy doesn't blindly blast onto friendly in front of it. On this case.. I suppose it is because friendly was not on line of sight of gunner nor commander but still managed to be on path of round to be fired. I remember there was tank game.. called Spearhead from I-magic? before steelbeast gold edition.. and my most livid memory of it is... when AI TC screamed.. "Cease fire, Cease fire thats a friendly!" That was on such tone that made blood chill So I wonder... On AAR we see that Steelbeast does record shots, and identify friendly fire... perhaps (AI TC to scream.. "Cease fire, Cease fire thats a friendly!) could be future addition for both AI and players? And someting like that for AI as well to prevent... continying to blasting on friendly target? I can accept that AI fires once.. especially now when I think of the conditions when those happen.. I believe on all cases I remember... TC - Nor gunner would have direct line of sight to friendly they fired at... but either small part of friendly that was hit (usually on opposing side of barrel in relation ship to optics location. left / right / below ) exluding ones where friendly steamed full speed between and got blasted on.
  23. Im curious... is there currently any mechanism at all to prevent AI friendly fire incidents? and if there isn't, could one be created? This seems like.. rather important thing to be added "To do list" Currendly AI units seem to be all too happy to blast away even if there is Friendly AFV quite literally blocking gun barrel. 😕
