  1. Sorry. WinXP, SB Audigy2 (value)
  2. Along with a fresh reinstall of my SBProPE v2.46 DVD, I finally downloaded and installed patch v2.48. While in the M1, I do not hear the main gun's report. I also do not hear crew vocals. Finally, the end credits slideshow is back but there is no music.
  3. If the Warsaw Pact had decided to go to war in 1985, what European armor would have fought along side the M1A1? I'm not too up on what armor was available during this time period (especially to the French and British). Any info would greatly clear up this gray area of mine. Also, and forgive me if I'm beating a dead horse here, when will French and British tanks make an appearance in SB? Although I'm mainly concerned with the M1A1 (which SB represents greatly, thank you very much), it has always been an interest of mine to create scenarios involving NATO members other than...zee Germans.
  4. My rig is several years old and it plays SBProPE very well. I get good framerates at 1024x768. My rig specs are: AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (1.3GHz) 1GB RAM (PC 2700) Nvidia GeForce 6800GT (AGP) Windows XP Pro (32-bit) All components for my motherboard have been upgraded at one point or another and its upgradeability has more or less been maxed out. The next practical upgrade for me would be to build from the ground up again. I will pick a CPU and build around it and at this time my wishlist at Newegg is around $800. Why am I sharing all this? I guess my point is these days you can buy a really good rig from Dell, HP, etc... for around $500US. But again, note my current system specs and that I'm running SPBroPE very well on it.
  5. Mine came in a cardboard box. Oh wait, that was a cardboard USPS envelope.

    New PC!

This thread is worthless without specs!
  7. It would be nice to see French tanks in the sim especially a cool one like the LeClerc. It would be equally nice to see British armor as well. The day French and British MBTs and APCs make an appearance in SB, will be a very, very good day. They need not be the latest models neither. AMX-30 and Challenger I, not to mention older WP tanks like T-55. I've recently had the idea of using scenarios in my wargames (namely HPS's Modern Campaign series) as backdrops for custom scenarios in SB. Using the wargames as a source of TOE, geography, positions, and overall authenticity, I could create my own scenarios that I have always craved for SB to have. Alas, a lot of those scenarios involve AMX-30s, Challenger Is, and T-55s. I'm grateful, however, that there are plenty of T-72s, BRDMs, BMP 1s and 2s, (and now the Hind!!!) for the M1 to chew up in this sim.
  8. That's what I'm talking about. I aim for the same standard for the sake of friendly AI effectiveness. Otherwise the over-achieving score is no good indicator of my personal capabilities in a real scenario.
  9. Just north of Los Angeles here. Industry is not exactly next door, but driveable. Why, what's up?
  10. If any of you have the Snatch DVD, be sure to check out the deleted scenes. In one of 'em, they show Bulletproof Tony (?) piss right in Erol's pocket without him knowing it. High-larious. In fact, I'm gonna watch it right now...
  11. Here's another realistic war movie: Wind Talkers, pause.....NOT! It might've actually been bearable had it not been for the cheesed out, over the top, pyrotechnics. Every single explosion in that movie had a mushroom fireball. Okay, I over exaggerate, but so do them explosions. Seriously, the explosions were over-done.
  12. Ghost, it's okay. Apparently some of us listen to music when taking a break from SB. Or at least listened to music before SB became part of our lives.
  13. Here's a hint: Hit those soft targets with your SABOT round before the TC gets a chance to ident them and the AI loader will never get a HEAT round loaded. But the trick is spotting targets quick enough and getting the SABOT downrange with a kill (again, before the TC even gets a chance to identify soft targets and subsquently having HEAT loaded). Gotta do this from the git-go. :sonic: I know, I know, it's a long shot. Nothing makes me more nervous than having perfect kills on the first nine targets and the tenth target decides to be a BRDM at 2400 meters with HEAT up. Those AVLBs are tricky now too. SABOT rounds frequently fly past open spaces center mass.
  14. Best Buy had HBO's Generation Kill DVD collection on sale for about $26US so I decided to pick it up. It ain't no Band of Brothers, but it's still pretty cool. It's not all Hollywood'ed up so its pretty realistic. I like the spin on different leadership styles.
  15. INXS is a pretty cool band. I had a couple of their CDs back in the day but ended up giving them away. A couple of years ago I bought their "best of.." CD. It's missing a song or two that I like, but it'll work. Check out Max-Q, Way of the World video (on YouTube). It's a good song and I later found out that Michael was the singer. R.I.P. U2 will remain my favorite band though.
  16. Ssnake, I didn't mean to raise a stink about the slideshow. It was just an observation and I felt like making a corny joke about it. Them missing in the upgrade is no biggie to me at all. Anywho, can the original slideshow be copied from the original CD? Just curious.
  17. LOL. Esim sure hustled the heck out of you! Actually, I'm kinda looking forward to upgrading my AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (~2.2GHz) rig this summer too. Fortunately, my rig runs SB just fine, this update too AFAICT.
  18. Magnum50, thanks for keeping up SimHQ. I always find good stuff there, including the plug for our beloved SB Pro PE. Sorry to see you took Ssnake's comment the way you did though. I'm sure you'll both squash the beef in no time.
  19. I didn't have any complaints with the original sounds, but the new ones are indeed great. Looking (hearing?) forward to putting in some game time on this upgrade. Good job!
  20. Hey! What happened to the end credits slideshow? Now it's just a T72 solo. Is this a hint of playable things to come in the next upgrade? Just pokin' fun.
  21. Running the installer off the CD worked fine. And yes Sean, I did dismiss the install message, but only because I could've sworn I had the latest already. All is well now. Thanks everyone.
  22. Thanks for the prompt replies, you two. It did look like a DirectX issue so I ran DXdiag and it indicated I had the latest already. WinXP update didn't prompt me for an update neither. I will run the DXsetup from the CD. Thanks again.
  23. Using its own uninstaller, I uninstalled my previous installation of SBProPE and installed the Upgrade. When I start it up though, I get this message: What to do, nephew?
