  1. Hi Guys,

I uninstalled v4.363 then installed latest version (v4.377). After startup and in a scenario, SB v4.377 seemed not to display some skins so I thought the display problem may be the new version. As a test I uninstalled v4.377 and reinstalled the prior version to see if the prior version would correctly display the skins. Now I cannot even get SB to fire up. When I try to execute SB I get this message....

    Error! Unhandled exception!

Could not look up folder ID (5), error 0x80070003

    Help please.

Okay so I managed to find a solution. For some reason, using a VPN fixes the issue. I don't know why but for me it works perfectly now.

Well, good you found a solution. Seems when I have a problem, I'm the only one reporting it, too.  I end up feeling a bit dumb and a bit foolish.  Very glad you reported your issue and then the discovery of a workaround.

It is, and I suspect that it was delivered already. Spam filter would be the first to check. Recently someone reported that his license ticket was delivered to his smartphone but now shown on his desktop machine. I cannot comment on potential complexities in individual households' email configurations. But if you can't find it at all, drop me an email (or Sales), and we'll send it again. Ideally, provide at least one alternate email address (from a different email provider/domain) so that the same spam filter will not prevent the delivery again.

    sending you an email now

  4. Hi Nils,

I just read your post responding to my request for support with inability to open the new 4.357 program. You explained I needed to buy a license upgrade. I followed your instructions and just paid for the upgrade using Paypal.

Where do I get the new license from and where do I paste it?

  5. I uninstalled my copy of SB PRO PE 4.268 as instructed in the installation files and then installed the new ver. 4.357. I then installed the maps from SBMapPackageInstaller.exe. Lastly, I installed the extra maps listed in the Release Notes. Attempting to open ver. 4.357 I am getting the no license found message. Was I supposed to pay for a new license when upgrading from 4.268?

  6. Upon attempting to open the new 4.357 Release Notes I was greeted with this message from the Acrobat Pro ver. 9 program...

“There was an error opening this document. An updated version of Acrobat is needed in order to open this document.”

I discovered a real cute ploy from Adobe. The version of Acrobat your team used to create the new Release Notes was built with an ‘IED’ in it. The PDF will not open in any version of Acrobat except the current (perpetual pay to use) DC version. As a workaround I had to down load and install Foxit’s PDF Reader to view the new Release Notes.

    Suggestion:

If you could generate the Release Notes using Acrobat ver. 9, or 10, (basically one that precedes cloud based) then it could be read by all SB users including those that have an aversion to cloud based pay-to-use systems.

Hype Thread - 5.0 will drop as soon as 4.3 is released.

Gotta get ahead of the game.

What do you mean "5.0 will drop asa 4.3 is released"?

Is there a ver. 5.0 about ready for release? I didn't know there was that big an upgrade in the works nearing completion. Just skip over a ver. 4.5 or, 4.628.  We will just a jump to ver. 5.0? Holy cow.., guess that release will require it's own registration fee.  $150.00usd (more?).

I'll have to run this by the programmers.

I too have a problem with this file. Downloaded to the map packages directory okay.

When opened in Map Editor it displays a featureless map devoid of buildings, trees, roads, bridges. Just a green map.

The screen shots of the map show it has these improvements. What is wrong?

Well, LIDAR import is limited (as of yet, like importing any other geodata) to the classroom version. But if you can point us to the download location of the (*.ASC) data, we can give it a try and then send you the result.

I can get LIDAR map files in "Arc ASCII Grid" format. I that what you need?

Yes... I hope that one day we can include it in SB Pro. Of course, high-res LIDAR scans work best with something like sand dunes to recreate the small details. And it can have a substantial impact on simulating outcomes; where a 10m DTED3 map predicts engagement average ranges of 2,200m, the LIDAR terrain database suddenly drops the average(!) engagement range to under 500m inside the dune field.

I'd pay triple or more to get a version with this map format. Does the classroom version of SB have this mapping capability? Should I buy that version?

  11. Thanks to both of you for responding.

With Rotarneg's help I located the 'lines of fire' option within the 'OPTIONS' pulldown in mission edit 'test' mode.

    (SB 4.268 main menu/mission edit/test/options/lines of fire)

    To jArvis;

I did not realize 'lines of Fire' was hidden unless I opted for a 'low' realism setting. Thanks for the education.

  12. Has the feature to display Blue and Red lines of fire been deleted in the latest upgrade?

In pre-planning and/or execution phase I can no longer find where I check the option to ‘view lines of fire’ for friendly and /or enemy units when viewing the map screen. I read the first 110 pages of the manual in hopes I’d just forgotten where to select the option but, unless the location is called out somewhere further in the SB manual, it’s not mentioned.

  13. One of the useful files for viewing SB graphic map obects has always been embedded in the 'program files' as follows ...

    "C:\Program Files\eSim Games\SB Pro PE\docs\MapObjectCatalogue\index.html"

Unfortunatly, the PNG images located in C:\Program Files\eSim Games\SB Pro PE\docs\MapObjectCatalogue\img are all blank. All the images are listed but, the img graphic

    is just a black square.

Anyone else having this display issue?

  14. Seeing the new server badges reminds me of parents dispensing trophys for participants in children's softball... "Everybody gets one"

Is there any way to opt out or disable the badges ?
