  1. just a question for you all. The UN use the white paint and blue helmet covers to distinguish themselfs from the different parties in a conflict. But, what happen when UN units all of a sudden become one of the parties to the conflict? Since there is no need to distinguish themselfs as neutral, is there anything that stops the units parent country from ordering "blue helmet covers off" and "pop open the buckets of olive drab"? Edit: Been looking into this, it looks like if the operation is UN led, its blue helmets and white vehicles. If its UN sanctioned but led by NATO or some other organisation you can use whaterver colour you want. But UN and other organisations using white vehicles do not appreciate if you use white, since they might be mistaken for combatants.
  2. very nice fotage. and cool to see everything from your perspective =)
  3. Thanks to all that had a part in the mission, red side had a blast. I hope zip will have the time to make a AAR video, becuse this time i have no idea of how it played out on the blue side. all i know is that they were very determined to not let us across the bridges. and that we were determined to cross the one in the middle of the town. lots of dead T55s and BTRs all over the place. It would be nice if someone on the redside wrote up a semi fictive AAR. i would do it myself, but i do not have the time. =)
  4. setup hamatchi and all the router problems will be gone, it takes 5 minutes.
  5. Good one! Good thing it is dirty, it both looks good and add a bit of camouflage for tonights game with human opfor =)

  7. from what i can see the mission is now ended, Very good work! And thank you very much!
  8. With all the engine sounds to the north i suspect that you do not have much time before the lead elm arrive at OAK. This, and the fact that you will have to drive to OAK in darkness using the offroad route i advice using route red.
  9. yeah, the spotrep would be a good format. i had not seen that one before and its almost exactly the same one we use in Sweden. but we do not use "salute" to remember the different parts of the report, we call it a 7S report. (all the first characters in the 7 words used to describe the posts of the reports start with the letter S) Feel free to use any format that you are comfortable with and that dont break opsec. as long as you think we will understand =)
  10. I did try to make the terrain more user friendly, the AI did not like 80-90% drag in the jungle. for some reason. they could find their way out of it after skidding of the roads all the time, so i had to make a decision. Realism or a working AI, and for this specific single player mission a working AI was more important =) for the coop mission the themes will be the same nasty African mud as usual, hehe =)
  11. Not very Swedish, i agree. =) but i think it was quite real, a threat was identified and dealt with. i know that my CO would not question the reasons if my squad wasted someone that just tried to run us over in a car. =) On the other hand, that car was only used for scenery, and the fact that it occupied that space at that time in the the simulation at the same time as the dismounts squad was totaly random =) this is why i love Coops =)
  12. Its all done, i had to add some drag to the "grass" terrain, just 10% more of it made a bit of difference. but still, the AI might be a bit random during this mission. I also had to make the terrain more "user friendly" so that he AI will be able to recover from any mishaps duiring their move. Anyway, this only affects the ISTAR mission, i hope the main mission will use human opfor. There are now two players on the opfor team, i hope to recruit one more for the red side.
  13. ok, the attachment contains the mission file. The mission should not take much more then 90 minutes. it is not made to be with replayability in mind, and there is no scoring. Post your AARs/Recon reports in this thread! Briefing: Situation: After spending 4 hours on the road, the troop has finally arrived at their destination. Its dusk, and about 30 minutes of light left in this day. About 20 minutes ago you passed Elanga to the south. During a chat with B Company’s CO at their temporary command post east of the town you got the latest Intel and the final orders for tonight mission. B Company have pulled out of Elanga and spent most of the day repairing their damaged vehicles and replacing losses. They will not be able to support you in this mission. During the last 12 hours only minor skirmishes have occurred around Elanga. As you bypassed the town you noticed that there was no activity to be seen, most of the locals must have been evacuated. You also pass several T-55s, BRDMs and BTRs taken out by hellfire missiles that your mates in the 161 Recce Sqn kindly delivered. Orders: Your orders are to set up Ops and keep eyes on the 4 NAI (named areas of interest) along route red and report all enemy or suspect civilian activity near or between the NAI. Do not engage unless in self-defense, stealth and cunning will be keywords for this op. most likely if our sketchy Intel is correct you will be outnumbered and won’t be able to survive a shootout even with your superior night fighting capability. Intel: Reports are coming in from all along the northern border of Redland units rolling south into our AO. We suspect that the majority of an armored division is moving south along 3 routes with forward detachments and advance guards leading the way. 2 of these routes are located within our AO. 2nd troop is setting up Ops along the second route and 3 troop are trying to go find a place for good ops along a third route that we suspect might be used as an axis of advance. All our UAV assets are further north trying to find the main bodies of the enemy Regiments, and use air to achieve Attrition. ISTAR mission 1.rar
  14. 5.45h local Situation: Bravo Company has spent the last 20 hours repairing resupplying and repairing losses. All your call signs are at 100% except for the totaled EagleIV lost in the last mission. The second M88 that you had to leave at the FOB due to engine problems have also been able to join you. Several emplaced positions have been dug, and your infantry have made sure that some routes in the area are blocked with abatis. Cas will be on station during the mission. (2X1 "tubes" of 2X 500lb) Intel: During the last 20 hours only minor skirmishes have occurred around Elanga. The local militia commander report that most of the locals have been evacuated, and that most of the enemies that you were in contact with have pulled away from the area. After the last mission several T-55s, BRDMs and BTRs taken out by hellfire missiles fired by your AH support. Reports are coming in from all along the northern border of Redland units rolling south into our AO. We suspect that the majority of an armored division is moving south along 3 routes with forward detachments and advance guards leading the way. 2 of these routes are located within our AO. All our UAV assets are further north trying to find the main bodies of the enemy Regiments, and use air to achieve Attrition. Just before dusk an Australian Cav Troop passed thru your lines and headed north to set up Ops along the route heading north. You have had a live feed of their progress over the “Bn” net. (See GibsonMs extensive report in the ISTAR mission 1 thread: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/forumdisplay.php?f=10 ) they will stay in their OPs for the time being and provide eyes on the road north and warn you of any reinforcements. They managed to destroy 1 tank, and 2 PCs using CAS. Mission: Delay, or if possible stop the enemy advance guard from capturing Elanga. In case Elanga is lost, delay or stop the enemy from moving east along MSR 1. Be prepared to counterattack northeast of Elanga along route Red. Arriving units: one platoon of airmobile infantry (rb57 Storm) and two teams of Rb-56 bill (milan 2) AT support should arrive at your designated LZ within 20 minutes. Blueland tanks (M-60) and militia are moving into the area and will arrive from the east. ETA 40 minutes for the tanks, unknown for the militia. I need 1 or 2 Opfor players to sign up or PM me!
  15. this will be perfect for my next campaign =)
  16. the mission is just about ready, but im having big problems with some new features. the combination of the new slippery terrain, hills, and high speed result in large numbers of vehicles stuck in the woods.
  17. And this goes out to everyone. PM me if you want a seat as opfor, and i will give you more info, this will NOT turn into a H2H campaign, but i want to try using 2 or 3 human players that understand the way opfor is used in traning, to make the enemy even more flexible.
  18. hehe i think that todays fashion calls for 1X 500 pound JDAM, to take out a pair of farmers with shovles, pickuptruck and big nasty IED. or if you want to be old fachioned but still classy, why not a AH-64. =) im working on the missions, both the ISTAR and the Coop, both will be realy nice! And Gibson, rest asured the diggers will will be in this one.
  19. i did find this facebook page http://www.facebook.com/Rockmoremusic and this webpage http://www.rockmoreband.com/
  20. The ied blast was in this sundays mission, and the video from the week before. im not sure if anyone recorded the latest mission with the IED. Anyway, i can confirm that IEDs planted 15-20m away from the road CAN take out whole platoons of CV9040c. (not kill them but lets say that 90% of the systems in all the IFV was fried.
  21. Yeah, there was alot of minor damages from trees, new and very sticky African mud that makes the tanks SINK into it and not get out =) (the royal society are sending down scientist to study this mud) and also from towing. but also some from enemy fire. Hotel elements will have to work hard to get them all into shape again. And im sorry for that IED again, that was not suposed to happen. i guess the guy that buried it tripled the amount of TNT that he was orderd to use.
  22. yeah, the old ARRC propaganda minister did it again! Good job Zip! Im beginning to suspect that finns that take part in our missions are part of new very secret psyops unit, equipped with, cv90s video editing equipment and a rockband =)
  23. nope, i think we are go for 2.538 i think, at least i have taken it for granted that sundays mission will be run with it.
