  1. Here here! Defiantly agree with all of the above! I believe you were my CO on at least one of those Brun - excellent times. My wife and I are now officially empty nesters and have re-located from SoCal to South Carolina (slowing down). Currently my internet connection is terrible, but I expect to have that corrected in the next few months. In the meantime, I plan to start playing Single Player again and relearn all the stuff I forgot plus all the new additions to SBPro. Perhaps I will be ready to join you by the time you get your first scenario published Brad! ~mm
  2. Hi all...long time no type! Hellhound had a series of co-op scenarios where the map was on but all radios were damaged so you did not know where you or anybody else was except by looking at the terrain to try and keep track....I believe this was back in the SB1 days, but it was quite challenging and fun. ~mm
  3. Also co-op missions where you play with 2 to 16 (if Sean is hosting) players on your side against the computer (for those single player games that give you a few batallions to control). Quite a bit of fun and you make friends from all over the world to boot!
  4. LOL - I remember making the GASS (am I spelling it right?) Range practice which allowed you to practice with lase broken. The targets shot back, but had blanks. Lots of action with no damage.
  5. Thanks for the welcome back! Down loaded, installed and licenced. Played around a bit last night. Very cool...dark to dusk to dawn enviormentals! That was not there last time (was on the list and being gaurded by Squirls as I recall....) Lots more to explore (I laughed out loud when I popped into the map in mission preview to find a large yellow daisy staring me in the face!) Do Shot, Sherman, HH, Dagger and Lonestar still drop in from time to time? I see Lee is still about...still no playable T80 for him and Opfor? Plan to drop in and get my butt soundly kicked sometime this weekend....
  6. Hello everyone! I received the upgrade newsletter in my inbox and as I read it I started getting the itch again! While downloading the upgrade I had great memories of Friday night fights, Battle Labs, Fulda Gap campaigns and the like. Now I am waiting on the paycheck to buy my new licence and...given the amount of down time...dive back into the tutorials for a while. Cruzing the forums it is good to see many of you old timers are still around and posting. With a bit of luck (getting free time) and practice, I might even make a battle or two this upcoming long weekend. See you soon and thanks for keeping the sim growing and for all the great memories! ~ MM :thelmuty:
  7. Flak, Again, I will encourage you to hop in an MP game and just watch. Jump from tank to tank in the F8 observer position. Ask questions and enjoy the experience. Pretend like you are an embedded CNN reporter or something. No stress. No expectations. Just get a feel for it and get to know the guys (and occasional gals). ~ mm
  8. Hi Flak, One thing I found really helpful back in the SB1 days and that I think will still teach you many of the basics you are looking for is the Anti-Frustration Kit. You can find and download it here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/269/p13_fileid/277 And although it is also an SB1 resource, you may also find the Recognition guide helpful here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/269/p13_fileid/284 For a newbie, you will find this scenario, Calvary to the Rescue, one of the easiest to get up to speed with: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/681 Joust is good practice for moving gunnery and a lot of fun: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/1182 Skybird made a very nice demo of some of the different SBPro features into a scenario of sorts here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/1128 The Tank Tables are good practice as well: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/803 http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/804 I have not tried this one yet, but it looks like it might be up your ally: http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/267/p13_fileid/1240 A great old standard which Black Death updated for SBPro is Tanks. It is one unit versus 9 and is great practice for moving about and learning situational awareness. Learn how to shut off your engines and listen too! http://www.steelbeasts.com/Downloads/p13_sectionid/24/p13_fileid/1103 And most importantly, get online! The first few games I played I joined as an observer (they gave me a M113) and I jumped out from unit to unit and watched those with experience play (F10 and F5) all the while asking lots of questions. Good fun. Make good friends and after one or two of those, you will want to jump in the action. It is also fun to do Fully Manned Tanks. That is, instead of having your own unit, you partner up with another player. One in the gunner position and one in the TC position. A third can even do F8 observer and just keep an eye out. This is a great way to see how the more experienced players do what they do. So Multi-Play (MP) is highly recommended. Don't be shy and welcome! ~mm
  9. Merry Christmas to all...good to see Sean, Shot, Alpha, Ren, and LS here. Anybody seen Sherm?
  10. That's too bad. What was the logic in that?
  11. Hi All, It has been a while since I have played and was working on a plan for a SP battle. I was unable to save my plan and I thought we were able to save plans for both Single and MP games. So I checked the manual and searched this site and was unable to find out if this is the case or not. So, please help this old man remember how to save a plan for an offline game if it is possible. Merry Christmas, mm
  12. Hi All, I would like to suggest a separate category in the download section for all scenarios that won or earned honorable mention. I realized the 2nd contest winners might not have theirs up yet, but what about the 1st contest winners? ~mm
  13. Hi Shot, Back at you! Life is always rough and God is always good so no worries!! Is the 29th still active? ~mm
  14. Hello everyone! Wow...looks like a great time. I might even make it out of retirement to join in. Please post here. ~ mm
