  1. Yes, I can keep shadow mapping quite high, at 6 - 7. In my case the biggest frame rate killer is Dynamic Cache Size. I reduced it to minimum and got really decent frame rates. Smoke and vegetation have much lower impact in my case. Great looking smoke by the way. 🙂 I keep road rendering at 3 usually but reduce it to 2 in some more intense scenarios. I've found my sweet spot in setting now and overall 4.157 is give me much better overall frames rates. Previously it was unplayable in large and heavily wooded terrain at my base settings. I had to reduce them severely to obtain manageable level. 4.1 is much more consistent and better looking at the same time. 🙂
  2. CPU: i5 @ 2.8 GHz / 12 GB of RAM and 2GB of view memory. The problem was too high setting for Dynamic Cache. Once decreased to minimum, I get steady and better frame rates than in 4.0. Smoke an
  3. I’ve just noticed that Dynamic Cache Size has the greatest impact on frame rates on my system. Once decreased to 55, the problem I described above is far less severe.
  4. There’s another issue I noticed. The sim either smooth for 30-60 seconds but then frame rates drop significantly. When I alt tab, it gets back to normal but again, only for 30-60 seconds. I still have to check if it’s not hardware related. I did not have much time to test it today. I’m posting it because somebody has had the same problem.
  5. And now, unlike any other week, Monday is something we are all looking forward to. 😀

BMP-1 is extremely small. I'm 5ft 11" and I could barely squeeze in the commander's hatch. I can't imagine how one can escape quickly in case of fire or battle damage. And I though T-72 was small before trying to get into that.
  7. Thanks. It might be a tight schedule for me though. I thought I might be able to get back home earlier than usual but I will probably be away for at least another 2 hours. I'll let you know if I manage to make it. I may join one of your games on another occasion though. I've barely played Steel Beasts recently but I'm planning to come back to it.
  8. I could barely squeeze my myself in a T-72 hatch. Using binoculars would probably require chopping a part of my head off. Lea 2 is not that more spacious either. A workaround is using Track IR. You can actually zoom the view through F4 view if you have one.
  9. Yom Kippur war. And something modern. I love this new T--72 model.

  11. D.O.W. Saturday Mission 22/10/16 @ GMT19:00 You can watch it live. You do NOT need Steel Beasts. http://www.twitch.tv/dogsofwarvu Animosities Unveiled by Lusik This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message. Mission Summary : May 3rd, 1993 Countries of Moratia and Mercia were part of a united Peoples’ Democratic Republic of Rastavia during long years of the Cold War. But with the fall of the communist block in the Easter Europe the bonds that held several of Rastavian Rublics together began to break loose. Over long years of communism Mercia was exploiting other republics, which was partially driven by economy and partially by historical animosities between the countries, reaching as far as the 16th century. Old animosities, held back by the oppression on communist rule, started to surface quickly in the early ‘90s and soon separatists movements in each country were growing stronger. Being the biggest country of Rastavia, Marcia was the only only on that wanted to maintain former order. It lacked major natural resources and most importantly, unlike other republics, it was the only one without access to the sea - the primary source of commerce for the country and shipments of natural resources that were so badly needed during the transformation period. In December last year, Solania, was the first country of the Rastavian Republic to declare independence. The declaration was recognised by the UN and general public opinion in Western Europe. As one may expect, it encouraged other former republics to step on the path to independence. In November elections to Moratian government separatist party gained overwhelming majority in the regional governments and started reforms that were aimed at breaking from the Rastavia. People went our on the streets and occupied major public squares in support of the reforms. In March the governed proclaimed its new constitution and declared independence. Just like Solania, it was supported by the international community and openly condemned by Mercia and other countries of the former communist block. Soon events started to unfold very quickly. Last month Mercia ordered a general mobilisation in reaction to the “violation of international agreements” , as they called our declaration of independence, and claimed that it was unlawful. Therefore, actions had to be taken to bring back the old order. Our intel discovered that Mecia started moving its mechanised units closer to the border. Today morning all diplomatic means failed and Mercian forces crossed the border. They broke through our foreword outposts quickly and are heading towards the capital. Currently there’s no artillery support available. We have two Mi-24 on standby once the weather clears up sufficiently. ******************************** ** Notes ** ******************************** SB Version: 4.006 64bit Mission Name: Animosities unveiled Created by: Lusik Modified by: N/A Multi-Crew: Yes Single Crew: Yes Largest command: Company plus Smallest command:Crew Position Mission Duration: Up to 120 minutes depending on players Minimum number players: 5 Date: Saturday Mission 22/10/16 Time: 19:00 GMT Time (local): Click here Teamspeak IP: dow.ts.nfoservers.com wait in lobby for access to other areas.
