  1. There's one problem with my mission editor. Either it requires a password or it will not allow me to save over a pre-existing one. EXAMPLE: If I want to add something to a unit or change it out completely, a window will say, "Cannot save over this scenario." Or something to that. Mines. Got it. Road waypoints. Got it. TOW-II. Got it. Now all I need are more scenarios to ruin my nightlife with  I haven't touched my PS3 in weeks!!!!
  2. Playing the NAI.Cointoss scenario from the contests#2 files. I am in charge of four M3A2 scouts on the lookout for the enemy advance forces. Wasted the first five PCs but when the tanks came thundering down, my TOW's wouldn't fire!!!! :mad3: I made absolutely certain the launcher was up, the ammo was selected and they were fully loaded. But none of the launchers in my units would fire at all. Is this a scenario foul up or is my laptop finally gone to the dogs? Never seen this problem before:gun:
  3. Is attrition a factor in this game? Say if a CT gets completely wiped out on Phase One, does that mean they are gone for good? Or do we have replacements?
  4. #1: In map mode, I noticed that some of you were able to route your units along a road with about two clicks. I have to click in each turn and curve in order to have my units follow on the road. How is the easy way done? #2: I noticed in the last mission with US IFV's that I used, the TOW missiles flew a bit high which caused obvious misses (and a fair amount of foul language thrown at my screen). Is this a PC problem? I haven't seen this on my gunnery missions before. #3: How do you mark minefields on the map? In one single mission scenario, I nearly ran smack into a minefield (looked like tree stumps) but couldn't mark them on the map. How is this done? #4: Are there any MANPAD AA units to practice with? If so, how is this done and which scenarios are they found in?
  5. M1 Tank Platoon and the former grand masters of Microprose Inc. made random missions it's bread and butter. For single player missions, this was the best and ONLY way to go and have never seen games like that since. One of the reasons why I did away from the original SB was I didn't want to play online and the single player missions were meager at best. Now, it's a different animal, but would still like to see more random generated missions similar to M1TP for those days when I just don't want to wait until Friday night (LATE NIGHT) to play online. My problem is similar in that I am a lowsy mission editor and I want something unknown to me prior to starting the mission. I'm not sure why game companies have done away from random missions but they have for decades. Zero fun. Guess I'm too old school...
  6. However, it is an idea I had for many years. I played with 3rd Armored over the weekend. They are a very relaxed, laid-back informal group. Was able to use M3 cavalry units. Lost five, destroyed three . I must learn to trust my gunners more and use the BC for spotting.
  7. This may be a stupid idea. Has anyone ever thought of opening a LAN center specific to SB? I saw a former pilot in Toronto who has a flight simulator business specific to the FA/18 with missions just like you see with SB: pre-flight briefings, training and the missions themselves. He seemed to have been doing well with it but I haven't seen the place since 2010. So, what if someone opened a shop with about 20 PCs devoted to SB? Someplace with lots of former military and a large population such as DC or Chicago? Maybe I should get back to my studies...:c:
  8. Not much help, but I have an older Nvidia GForce card. Yet I have to turn down the graphics for the game to work
  9. The scenario used was "Force on Force" which has been revised several times. An understrength US cavalry squadron faced off against an enemy using German equipment of reinforced battalion size. Our objective was to cross two bridges and capture their base camp while preventing them from doing the same to us. I was in control of two M3A2 sections and the CO of 1 plt/D co. I positioned my vehicles to scout and cover the bridges prior to A co. tanks rolling in to help. I personally re-learned a lot about scouts: THEY DIE A LOT!!!! In the army, there was a slogan, "Scout Out," meaning they were out in front but in reality, they were "out of action" first :clin:. I was able to keep eyes on the enemy quite often and used the dismount scouts well. I killed two tanks and a PC but ended up losing all five tracks. Good hit ratio though, something like 60 out of 83 shots. Lesson learned: LEAVE THE GUNNER POSITION ALONE!!! I must have more faith in the gunners even though it's more fun to do the shooting. I lost a track because of gunning at targets and failed to spot a tank within 1500 meters to my far left flank. When I saw what killed me, I wasn't happy:c: 3rd AR are very laid back, easy going bunch of American folks :cool3:. The engagement was low keyed and manageable. There was one particular guy who was raging quite profusely over some keyboard issues concerning ammo selection (understandable) but we ended up winning the battle :luxhello: SUMMARY: After I graduate and getting a job, I'm buying the unlimited license!!! I am so hooked now, can barely finish my studies!!!
  10. Great, I'll log in at 7:30PM EST. I could use a break from studies even though I need to do more of it . But it's ok. Sunday is my ,"I NEED TO STUDY TODAY BECAUSE I DIDN'T DO ENOUGH ON SATURDAY!!!" day for me :cool3:
  11. When do you game? I missed a game with you folks yesterday as you played much earlier than the standard 10PM EST zone as others do.
  12. So, how would that work even though I see it in winzip? Do I right click, create a shortcut and extract? Or is there another step-by-step procedure I'm missing?
  13. Sitrep: I have winzip 18.0 or something like that. I tried to download scenario Mech infantry PLT template v7 (3.002).zip a few days ago. I see it in my WinZip Evaluation version window. Question: how do I work it from there? I'm way too far behind the times with this stuff :1:
  14. Booted over half of us out. I'm not sure if that was the Beta's problem or something else.
  15. KILLS THOSE HINDS!!!! Never been on the receiving end of an airstrike before and those attack helos are just plain vicious. Working on a classical scenario, "Hasty Defense 03" and the Soviets threw three of those nasties at me!!! I didn't have any ADA so my only hope were the 25mm guns on the Bradleys. Ouch. Lesson #6: Running a full company or more SUCKS!!!! Too much to keep track of for one person. Either I need more field time or it just doesn't work all that well. :cool3: One week until kickoff for the big Rising Thunder party!!!
  16. For some reason, my WinZip doesn't want to extract and download. Bet it's really my fault for not doing it right. Was given some good suggestions on infantry scenarios to download. It's ok, I have almost 20K students at this college who can help if I buy them pizza :clin:
  17. I missed your post completely today. Very sorry. What did I miss?
  18. On the firing tutorial, "M2A2 troops", I noticed the grunts kept missing the targets and missed often. If there is a way for me to directly use gunnery, please tell. Otherwise I am reliant on their chances of hitting. I am hoping the tutorial will not be a telltale of their accuracy in the upcoming campaign. Now, with an ATGM, the chances increase dramatically. Perhaps it's my computer that renders them so badly? War ain't fair eh? :1:
  19. I've spent a fair amount of time training with Bradleys and dismounts. I should be prepared enough to avoid being a hindrance. Even though infantry make up 80% of military casualties, I should be able to dish out some punishment. I have three questions: #1: are At-4's good enough to provide anti-tank fire? #2: with about forty or so people involved in this campaign, how will communications work? If so many people are talking at once, gonna be organized chaos. #3: is Rotareneg running the 65 tank + FISTV + Engineer track?
  20. It's what we do: whine, complain, and try to make stuff up in order to survive:clin: Last I knew, infantry makes up 80% of all military casualties in modern warfare. Only natural for us to try and increase our chances:cool3: So, before I get banned, I'll be good
  21. Was playing around with the mission editor this morning to get some range practice with dismounts. When I tried to change the ammunition sets, I noticed that US infantry does not have access to Dragon ATGMs. WTF?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!? :mad3: The Dragon was available in the early 80's with the AT-4 following soon afterwards to replace the LAW. The mission editor allowed TOW teams but dismounts realistically didn't have access to those. I once put together a TOW system before, that sucked. Took way too long to assemble under peace time training, imagine under fire. Sucks. However, TOW's were allowed. So my questions are: Does Operation Rising Bear have have Dragons I can have? If not, how can I change up my loadouts with a few TOWs since they available? Finally, how about changing up the other dismount teams? I saw AGL units...NIIIIIIIIICE :clin: Not to be greedy, but after playing around with the tutorials, my dismounts can do more if you allow it. Or am I stuck with using AT-4's at point blank range and Molotov cocktails? :cool3:
  22. Watched the end credits and saw a lot of familiar names. This game seems to be Ssnake's baby. About twenty others were seen who play as well. I can see why everyone is devoted and thankful for it. :luxhello: Now, about those Stinger and Javelin missiles.....:clin:
  23. I will be running US infantry in the upcoming Operation Rising Bear and need more training on the dismounts. I didn't see much info on infantry use with the offline scenarios as of yet, and I'm having trouble with downloads. Infantry is the queen of battle.
  24. Ok ok, I must practice more. Now, where can I download the M1A2 SEP?
  25. Even when I wasn't controlling the gunner, they still missed and missed often. I would get lots of flashing range figures many times. When they are standing still, I'm good. But on the move...:mad3: The one exception were TOW's from the Bradleys. But gunnery with any type of cannon against moving targets have been found wanting. Sequence of action: Spot Laze Follow the target Fire (miss) #$%^@!!!:mad3: Laze again Flashing ranges %$#@*:mad3: Fire (miss) #@*&%!!!:mad3: Laze again BOOM!!!! DESTROYED!!!
