  1. I enjoyed reading this blast from the past. SimHQ's Happy Birthday, Steel Beasts by Chuck "Magnum" Ankenbauer on August 21, 2010 And I am looking forward to 20 years of Steel Beasts. 2. Hi Major Hans. Haha! I admire your steely determination to go boldly where no armchair tanker has ever gone before. To explore new polygon worlds and to see flat-shaded tank models.
  3. Can someone point me the way to the old Steelbeasts Legacy forums? I woud like to read them there old forum posts, back in the day when SteelBeasts1/legacy/Gold took the world by storm. Cheers. For nostalgic reasons. And also because I'm still playing this oldie but a goodie. Frankie Kam.

Hi All That's just like me to buck the trend. My first skin mod for SteelBeasts...ever. I am just so darn proud I could near well cry. http://www.steelbeasts.com/files/file/2517-pixel-and-high-saturated-colour-skins-sb-legacy/ LOL. Version 1.0 now. Version 2.0 will be greater and grander. Regards Frankie Kam

Ahem. At easy soldier. As you were. This theme is for Steelbeast Legacy. SteelBeasts Pro PE gamers can hit the back Button now. You still here, Smitty? Okay. If you play SteelBeasts Legacy on VirtualBox, then you are a odd gamer. Probably only 0.01% of all Steelbeasts current gamers would play SteelBeasts Legacy in 2017. This mod of mine is about Minecraft meets Steelbeasts. It's about Retro. It's about Blocky pixellated skins. It's about art. LOL. My theme is called the Pixel High Saturation theme. Warning! Rather than going for high-res detailed and realistic color-scheme skins, I have gone for a Minecrafty models look, with a high dosage sprinkling of high saturated fat, ... erm... I mean, colors. The colors of the vehicle models are bighter and bolder than the stock models of Steelbeasts Legacy. If you're looking for a realistic set of skins with drab olive and all that, you will be disappointed. If you like fun brighter colours, then maybe this skin is for you. All vehicle skins are pixellated instead of being highly detailed. Colors of vehicle models are also set to maximum saturation (bright and bold hues). The M1 and Leo interiors are in slightly higher saturated colours than the stock interiors. The only kind of SteelBeast beast that I think will ever enjoy my skins is the type of gamer who: (1) likes retro graphics (2) plays Minecraft (3) likes the hues and bright colours of the original M1A1 Tank Platoon by Microprose (1989). Remember that one? For the rest of you, my skins and BMP files will be luck to last more than 2 minutes on your harddisk. I've made changes to mrTree1.bmp, mrTree2.bmp and mrTree3.bmp. If you hate the look, just dump them. Make sure you do a backup of your original images. I want to make a bold statement with my theme. This is a theme that only a mother could love. In my case, the mother is the developer of this theme - me. The fact that I can enjoy a 2001 eSimgames game in lower resolution skins than the stock, proves once and for all that the gameplay of SteelBeasts legacy is outstanding. It is able to last throughout the ages. This is version 1.0 of my pixelated skins and high saturated colours skin theme. Go easy on the comments. This is my first mod. I am looking forward to version 2.0 later. My high dream and greatest achievement would be to figure out a way to make a Minecraft theme for SteelBeasts Pro PE 4.01. Imagine if you will. High fidelity tank simulator of 2017 in blocky graphics. That will be a sight to behold. And that will be the day. So go easy on a mod newbie like me. Cheers Frankie "TornadoMan" Kam

Thanks SSnake and Homer. I got it now. Was saving as 24-bit instead of 8-bit. I also saved and loaded the palette. Cheers!

Hello World I think my problem below is related. I used Paint.NET to edit a BMP file of SteelBeasts Legacy. What I did was to use the Mosaic effect in Paint.NET like so: The result of my handiwork is a black block where the tree of that image used to be. How do I solve this? Okay, why am I doing this in the first place? If I told you you would laugh. I am trying to come up with a MineCraft-inspired skin for SteelBeasts Legacy. You can stop face-palming and laughing now. Actually I can do this - mod the tank skins so that they are more pixellated. Again Paint.NET is what I use. As you can see, I have given the Leopard the Minecraft makeover. So a leopard can change its spots! It's just the bushes and trees that I can't pixellate without running into the black blocks syndrome. Regards Frankie Kam
  8. I was there on TeamSpeak and the atmosphere was great. So good to see so many countries represented at the meet. Keep up the good work!!
  9. Check out these lighting effects. The attention to visual detail in this sim is astounding. An M60 with its searchlights switched on. Kaboom! Soviet tank T-62 lets loose a SABOT round in the night. The area around the muzzle flash illuminates, revealing the ground details. Superb. Same view, but this time from the front. Notice the multi-coloured beams of lights. Driver's unbuttoned view with the lights on. These screenshots don't even capture half of the lighting experience in SABOW. Best viewed in-game. Seeing these lighting effects reminds me of the first time I played Jane's Longbow II where I fired a pair of Hellfire missiles at night. Like this... Cheers! :-) Frankie Kam, Malaysia
  10. Troops mounting and dismounting on/from the tank. Nicely done animations. Even the troops bob up and down when the tank moves over the terrain.
  11. Hi SB'ers! Yes, SABOW's UI has a scary learning curve for newbies and for anyone who wants to jump into a game without reading the manual. The good news is that there is a QuickStart guide that is neither too skimpy nor too detailed. It's just nice and covers most of the aspects of the game so that you can quickly enjoy it from start to finish. The Quick Start guide is well-written and can be found here: http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11215.0 A comparison to Steel Beasts can be found here (a 2014 post on Graviteam's website): http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11731.0 For me personally, I find SABOW to be very immersive. What with very good graphics, atmospheric foreign voices, tank crew, lighting effects (sunlight glints of the view ports, shimmering water, sky effects), attention to detail in the area of physics, ballistics, armour penetration, 'realistic' tree collision effects, sound and voice effects, tactical gameplay, smoke effects. The list goes on. Plus there are frequent patches by Graviteam. It's also on offer on Steam and for less that USD10 which is value for money for impoverished gamers like me. There also more joy to be found with the just-released DLC - Basra 1986 simulating the Iran-Iraq conflict. New DLC - Basra 1986 Tran Vs Iraq war (29th September 2015) ox6d4Gpr3tw As an gamer who has played great tank sims like Tank Platoon I(!), Tank Platoon II, Tiger vs T-34, T72 balkans on fire, Steel Fury Kharkov 1942, Steel Beasts1, and Beast Pro PE which I bought from eSimGames in February 2015, I am lovin' SABOW and am happy to have it in my tank simulation collection. Dawn Attack using Termal sights in the midst of rain (September 2015) ruJ4QlNglsE SABOW simulates the tanks and conflict of the cold-war era and the 1980s whilst SB simulates, primarily, modern and current tanks. As the proud owner of both eSimGames' SteelBeasts Pro PE 3.028 and Steel Armor Blaze of War (Gamersgate), I am loving both tank simulations. IMHO, no tank sim come close to Steel Beasts' multiplayer-multicrew heaven. SABOW and Graviteam can certainly take a leaf out of SB's book in the area of multiplayer and network play. In fact, Graviteam, please put in multiplayer! Having said that, with an eye of learning by comparing notes, and with the intention of looking towards continuous improvement and enjoyment of 15 years of SteelBeasts, I have a suggestion for eSimGames. IMHO, eSimGames can, and should, take a leaf out of SABOW's book in the area immersive single-player gameplay. Specifically animated (and very vocal!) tank crewmen, immersive interior tank graphics (everything moves), lighting and reflection effects, attention to detailed tank-physics (threads get shot off and affects the tank movement), environmental physics (a tank tilts when it rolls over a knocked-down tree), and frequent patches releases. Afghan Ambush (April 2015) zGxi9EXUfcs Sam Walton built the biggest Hypermarket in the world because he had an eye for improvement and he spent hours studying his competitors' stores, taking notes of their success factors, and then incorporating those factors and lessons into his own stores. Graviteam could do the same and vice-versa for eSimGames. Steelbeasts excels in giving me an immersive multicrew environment. There is nothing in the world that compares to the experience of playing live against and with other humans over the Internet. I look forward to each release of SB and wish eSimGames all the best in the evolution of SteelBeasts! Cheers Frankie Kam, Malaysia
  12. Esimgames, thank you for bringing it back. I couldn't live without it.
  13. Hi SSnake I am completely ignorant of the development processes of SB, so forgive me for asking if a hotfix (a patch, rather than a 2+ Gig download) in the near future (before the biggie in May 2016) will be done and released that will plug 'minor' bugs of SB Pro PE 3.027, such as this one. Cheers Frankie Kam, Malaysia
  14. I miss the slideshow ending with the guitar riffs! Can we have it back?
  15. Sounds very serious. What, may I ask, was the abuse? Who was the abuser? Abusers? If evidence is undeniable, then name and shame the guilty party(ies).
  16. Can you make it look like the pyrotechnics in the Rambo2 movie? You know, the one where he rescues POWs deep inside the jungles of Vietnam.
  17. It's okay if your gunnery sucks so to speak. So does mine. If my laser gets disabled due to enemy direct hits on me, and I have to go manual to crank the turret, I'm toast. Anyway, every mission needs some cannon fodder...hahahahahahha.
  18. Hi. My name is Frankie Kam. I work in IT support and I also blog about e-Learning and PHP programming on my humble blog. I'd like to apply to be a beta-tester for the next release of SB Pro PE. I don't know what the requirements are to be a beta tester of SBProPE, but all I know is that I have been playing SBProPE since February 2015 and I love it, and I want to contribute to the ongoing development of the game via constructive feedback. I don't think there are many virtual tankers in my neck of the woods, which is South East Asia (GMT +8), but I sure as heck would like to be a SB evangelist for gamers on this side of the world. I hope that eSimGames will consider my request and whatever the outcome, I wish SB all the best in its next release. Regards Frankie Kam Malaysia
  19. Hi 31.0062766803 (Pi cubed = 3.14^3 !) Welcome to SB Pro PE. Whatever you do, besides the several great online multiplayer sites given to you, please, please don't check out www.dogsofwarvu.com. Because if you ever did, you would be Steelbeasts Addicted cubed. LOL. regards Frankie Kam A die-hard flight sim enthusiasts since the early 1990s, now totally awe-struck and won-over to tank sims. Tanks to SteelBeasts and eSimGames.
  20. Yo. Hi y'all. I know this thread is more than 10 years old(!), but I want to download the Weapons FX mod very much. And I can't seem to find it anywhere in the SB Pro PE mods downloads. I tried searching with the title "FX" but nothing like it (weapons effects fx etc.) turns up in the search. So where can I download this mod from? And is there one for SB Pro PE 3.025? :c: SB Junkie Frankie Kam
  21. Hi Rotareneg try changing your desktop's background colour to black. That will make the experience better! :-) Frankie Kam
  22. Yippee! I just received my Steel Beasts Pro PE DVD, spiral-bound Manual and Codemeter USB dongle. All arrived in one piece today (Malaysia, Wednesday 25th February 2015). It was mailed via First Class postage from the US on 12th February and it took just 13 days to arrive. My one-month license that I also purchased will expire in 15 days. So now I have one perpetual license and one license which lasts 15 days. Never mind that I purchased SBProPE before eSimGames bundled a free one-month license with the one purchase of a perpetual/classic license. It's mine. All mine.
  23. Hi. Sorry to hear about the trigger happy gunner. Time to send him on some R&R, eh don't you think? If SB had some dynamic campaign role-playing feature where we can send crew for non-combat activities which would enhance their health or morale, that would be interesting. Something like the Bullfrog games (Theme Hospital, Theme Park).
  24. My wish list: 1. Actual 3D crew members with role-playing ala Microprose's B17 Flying Fortress II so that we can get emotionally attached to our tankcrew 2. WWII mods to allow battles among T-34, Tiger Tank, Panther, Panzer IV, Sherman and Firefly. 3. Yom Kippur mod complete with Centurion "Sho't Kal", and modified M48 Patton "Magach" tanks, BTR-50 armored personnel carriers (APCs), Syrian T-62s, the most modern Soviet-bloc tank at the time, equipped with a 115mm smoothbore gun and infrared night-fighting capability,T-54s and T-55s.
