  8. If we start that here, we would have to do it in all the forums.I can't see that happening...can you?:debile2::biggrin::eek2::gun::1::
  9. Yes:shocked: Although: PhD thesis on Afghanistan ready for defense, well no, coming along thought If wanted to go in this direction and if i had the time. I can provide a extensive list of courses in the last 3 years from subject matter experts most who have either written a few books/papers or are currently teaching on the varied subject both on N America and Europe, east Asia. Even from the intelligence services, who I might add created those same groups that are now turning into a problem for the whole world. But I digress, all of that is public record. So I do understand the problem and the people, the culture, and the tribe systems there as well as the history of the region from Alexander the Great to where we are to day. When a person comments with words like Nonsense and Taliban its seems to me he is misinformed, or is looking to be informed. My mistake on the above, you seemed to understand it all from your background. I see my piece of what is going on in a different level- but I'm perfectly capable of forming an intelligent idea , despite your protest. Well I can certainly agree with this,(although I always felt that you could form a intelligent idea ).I see my piece of what is going on in a different leve. Hey! me to! Dealing with the governments at all levels from village elders to ministerial depts, UN agency's and the international groups. Buy mostly at the human level, at at that level is where the change will come, no the president of a country, not a Intel service, not a defense force, and not even from people like you and me (although I hope to make a difference in a small way). So I must reframe from jumping to the panic buttons on the Nonsense/Taliban word, check I must reframe on assuming anything about anyone at any time anywhere on this forum.check I must reframe on using my PC due to being watched all the time by various intel groups....(got to work on this more) Got to be nice to the Capt, must send positive energy in his general direction....check:cul: Oh! one last one Must not be gib. This is going to take some more work ( I see a support group in my future):cul: Ok I'm going to rethink my Afgan theory, this may take a bit....
  10. Dont take this the wrong way,I hear this all the time here also. Dont hear it when with my unit, or in training.
  11. Seems strange...be around for the tgif tonight and i'll ck and see what happened, it might be a ts thing that can b fixed.
  12. Could we agree that the tank was good, the people making the tactics and conduct in the war were not?:eek2: Can't really fault the IDF, however their masters.......................
  13. Thats not entirely true. We (most) don't understand them, and to them us in the west. This can be said for most cultures. History teaches us that to go to war we must demonize the enemy, and a different culture is a good example with a ready made way. If you study the culture there its not that different from the west. I have found that in most countries people (not government or interest groups) are all the same. We just want to raise a family and we want a better life for our children, this is pretty much universal all over. We suffer from lack of history of the region, the people, language, the tribal system, and the family value system they have. Now of course their lack of education has given the extremist a breeding ground to convert/twist the masses in the name of Islam but we in the west have our own version with mass media, tv and the all mighty evangelists and the sort. Another problem rests with NATO. As most of you know we are not all playing in the same ball game. Well we are, but some are playing with different rules. That being coached by their respective governments back home. I cant fault the troops, however governments, and mine also are really not in tune with the present reality. They as we all can see, live in a dreamworld making rules and governing in the real (our) world. A epic fail on their part. The hope in in the next generation, a educated generation. The young kids of today will sort the country of the future , a generation of people who have not lived through a ongoing war as in the past and some what of today. Time will tell.
  14. Well in our case (Canada) it was not the armoured corps that wanted the return of the MBT but the grunts.:sonic: When ,as Ssnake said, you want a hole in a wall right now, nothing can do this like a tank. Pussy flyboys are drinking tea in some a/c hut no less. When you want to go where no veh can (wheeled) you want a tank. When a mine plow will take out a wall, house,car/truck, vine walls, you need a tank with a plow and oh ya a minefield also. When you need to hide behind some armour from mg,PRK,RPG rounds nothin will do like a tank, and those neeto phone right there to talk to the man with the big gun just waiting to blow shit up. THe current enemy hates when tanks are around, they seem to know that instant retaliation is coming, and they can't run fast or far enough from the gun or the sensors. I'd say that tanks are here to stay for a very long time. They are the biggest tool in the toolbox for ground warfare.
  15. Generally the tube is facing the enemy, and reversing away from said enemy is allways best in reverse with the bang stick facing the bad guy. In my c/s ,if reversing the loader if not tasked otherwise would guide the driver back while I'd keep SA to the front arcs. Not to say I haven't had my share of reversing boo boo's. Car, what car?
  16. AS always the commander is in charge of the tanks moment. The command might we be- Driver , prepare to reverse, Driver -reverse, Driver reverse MAX speed:decu:, Shit :biggrin:that was close:shocked: Nothing in the back generally to damage compared to the front.
  17. In Canada we use the plows to make the route through the minefield. Then the rollers are used to PROF the route/lane that was made by the plow tanks. Some times the mines dug up by the plow tanks will roll back into the plowed lanes, thats when the rollers find them and set them off for the follow on tanks through the same lanes.
  18. As said, map building is labour intense. The Gagetown map took me over 2 years to complete, the WCMA took longer, and both can be updated a bit more. Map building takes a long time if the area is big, more if a military area due to the large road/blacktrak network. Pro is best left to the mil customers due to it classroom/teaching features as Sean has said.PE is just what we all need to play and have fun without the $.
