  1. When I was in the 11th ACR, the bumper numbers for the scout platoons were: X1 plt ldr, X4 plt sgt, X2 & X3 were wingmen (we called this the first section), X5 & X6 were wingmen (and this was called the second section).

    The squadron commander and the S-3 (Operations Officer) each had an assigned Bradley, HQ-66 & HQ-33, respectively.

  2. In my Armored Cav Troop we were this way:

    Black = HQ Command/Tactical Units (Black 6 - CO, 5=XO, 7=1SG, 8=HQ Plt. Sgt., 9=Mortar Sec. Ldr.)

    Gold = HQ Plt Maintenance Assets.

    Red = 1st Plt. (For all the Platoons, 1 = Plt. Ldr., 4= Plt. Sgt., any others were wing units)

    White = 2nd Plt.

    Blue = 3rd Plt.

    Green = 4th Plt.

    These colors were only used on the troop radio net. If we went off the net we used our Troop callsign and unit designation. (So since I was in I Troop, the CO would contact another troop commander as Invader 6 and not Black 6.)

    Invader, I was in Leadhorse Blue.

  3. No human player fires (and guides) a missile personally in Combat Mission.

    Well, darn. I was hoping that maybe you could do a trade with them. Their active defense system data for an algorithm to stow missile launchers when vehicles move.

  4. Not easy to get.

    Unless you've got an SBpro customer with demand for such a system simulated, willing to share the needed data AND that has no objections in making them public ( :-D )

    Or somebody could just pick up a copy of Combat Mission Black Sea and reverse engineer their data.

  5. Well any film that depicts a Centurion fighting compartment to be large enough that you can shackle a PW inside to the turret basket and still fire the gun (without the PW's head getting smeared), oh and carrry other internal passengers as well, is pretty bad.
    To be honest, I never did make it all the way through "Lebanon." I turned it off during the scene with the extra person in the turret. "Waltz with Bashir," however, has the same general subject matter, yet is an excellent study of post-traumatic stress.
  6. Is the Lebanon movie a better tank movie than "Tank" (1984)? Or what about "Tank Girl" (1995)? :men_ani:

    "Tank" had the Rockford Files guy, much cooler than Wardaddy Pitt. And "Tankgirl," iirc, had a morphing AMX-13 and a postapocalyptic kangaroo-rapper hybrid.

  7. A second lieutenant and a staff sergeant are at adjacent urinals in the latrine. The NCO finishes and begins to walk directly out the door. The young lieutenant reminds him that, "Sergeant, when I was in ROTC, they taught us to wash our hands after using the facilities." The sergeant replies, "Good for you, sir. In basic training I learned how not to piss on my hands."
