  1. Google is your friend. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://www.tanksim.ru/&ei=jrr3TuXNE4f8iQLbhfiiDg&sa=X&oi=translate&ct=result&resnum=1&ved=0CCYQ7gEwAA&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtanksim.ru%26hl%3Den%26nfpr%3D1%26biw%3D1228%26bih%3D772%26prmd%3Dimvns
  2. Outstanding! Tanksim.ru, a Russian language SB fansite.
  3. Might be a question about finding folders that Windows hides by default.
  4. There are no perfect answers, but there are the right questions. And you are asking the right questions. You've figured out the problem perfectly.
  5. Vehicles that carry a squad, e.g. BTR's, seem to now spawn separately from the squad. If you re-test the scenario after editing it by right clicking the vehicle, unloading the troops, giving them the same spawn condition as the vehicle, and then reloading them, that particular issue should be addressed.

Updated version of classic scenario to provide gunnery practice with T-72 fire control system. Version 2.640
  8. The scenario "Tanks" is a classic. It is perhaps the best scenario for a beginner to learn how to control a single tank and use terrain. The player controls an M1, but it is quite simple to open the scenario in the mission editor, right click on the M1 and then swap it for a Leo. Which has the added side benefit of being the easiest way for a beginner to learn how to use the mission editor.
  9. Hopefully the gunnery manual posted here was helpful.
  10. There is a set of scenarios included in Prosimco's Armored Task Force with the 11th ACR in the Rasdorf-Huenfeld area. The designer is an artillery officer and the game models the artillery in some detail.
  11. I've a set of maps; attached are a sample. I still need to finish the map for the final battle capturing the bridge intact. I propose an online head-to-head mini-campaign with one battle a weekend. I'd then release the set as offline scenarios with Red preprogrammed. That would then leave a volunteer to run the campaign and volunteers to command either side. Captain Bannon, anyone?
  12. Take a look at this: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php/Vehicle_timeline It doesn't have information on when particular units were received new kit but it is generally helpful background info.
  13. That's the Haune Valley map. The large built up area is Huenfeld. The political subdivisions are the States of Hesse and Thuringia.
  14. Maybe we should ask Sean for a forum section to have virtual 12-step meetings. We'd probably get more traffic than the old Ground Zero section.
  15. See, that's what you get for believing a burned-out alcoholic cavalry scout.
  16. Using the mission editor, open the scenario with the pre-made unit and then try the replace map function under the maps pull down menu.
  17. Well, that looks a wee bit familiar. Tony, you made the height map for me. Either you or Sean provided a map made from a satellite image that I used for comparison. But what you see there was drawn by hand, every object and tile. I used scans of 1:100.000 topos for the most part. Topkick sent me some old 1:25.000 topos of the trace around OP Alpha that he had from his days there with the 14th Cav. JohnO knock yerself out.

  19. I'd like to make a Duke Nukem Forever joke, but I know I shouldn't.
  20. And Colonel if you wanna get real fancy, set the arty box to fire if a called event is true. The event being enemy forces seen in the NAI. Using an event will allow you to send radio dialog messages -- shot over, splash over, et cetera.
  21. One of the best perks of promotion from driver to gunner was that time formerly spent sweeping snow in the motorpool was then spent in the temperature controlled comfort of the UCOFT cabin. My present recollection of the UCOFT at that time was that it simulated only two 'seasons' -- daysight and nightsight.
  22. Something that I wrote a while back: http://1stusvcav.com/Tactics/Page%201.html

  24. No. This 'Major Victory' guy may or may not be on to something. But if he is for real, it sounds way too important to just dismiss. We, as a community, would be remiss to not refer him to the visionary M.S. for validation of his theories: http://combatreform.org/mikesparksm113gavin.htm
