  1. Since the topic has meandered over to surviveability I have a question. Is the crew's inclination to duck & therefore miss with an OPFOR ATGM modeled? Last night was playing Zipuli's Tank platoon in attack. Had a BMP crest a rise & shot him through the front slope with a SABOT. Just as the loader finished reloading HEAT they launched a Sagger. Moments later I hit it again in the turret with said HEAT round. Thinking I was safe I watched in horror as the missile flew unerringly 2-3 VERY long seconds & hit my tank. I dont know for certain if my HEAT round killed the BMP but I would think if anything would cause the gunner to duck in the BMP that heat round would have done it. Zipuli, I really enjoy that mission in the M60A3 but that counter attack at the end... Dirt pool old man! LOL It was great though, serious pucker factor!
  2. Well done sir, very thorough. I appreciate your efforts! 1 minor thing I noticed as I read through it which I can't confirm as being 100% certain of. My memory may be foggy on the subject it being 30+ yrs since I had any practical experience with the M60 but your explanation of applying lead with the LRF is exactly as I remember it. Track, lase & shoot. Afterwords though you state lase, track & shoot. As i said minor but poignant. Edit: You actually addressed this with your techniques section.
  3. Disregard, I was over thinking it & have it figured out.
  4. I'm trying to play this mission but am unfamiliar with the logic. What do I need to change this line to so the mission doesn't end immediately?
  5. 1985 is the year I am thinking. Either that's Canadian propaganda or I am miss remembering it. Teach me to post off memory instead of GTSing it Then again them Canuks are some sneaky bastages eh
  6. The M60 is/was a tremendous gun platform! Back in the early 80's the US Army would routinely win the top gun competition in Grafenwoher. My last year (just before the A3's were replaced by M1a1's) it was the underdog against Germany's new Leopards & everyone was surprised when the M60 came out on top once again.
  7. I have TrackIR but wasn't aware SB was support. You can guess what I will be playing with tonight
  8. This would be extraordinarily invaluable. Admittedly I am still getting used to the UI & key commands but being able to glance at a 2nd monitor would be tremendous time saver.
  9. Thanks Volcano! Those are some amazing Wiki pages you have created, I am truly impressed.
  10. I guess you could say I am new old player. I 1st got into SB back in the mid 90's & my life has finally slowed down enough to get back into siming. I am gratified to see that SB is still going strong & still has such a connection to its community of users. I was especially lucky in my timing to walk into 4.0 hot off the presses. It runs wonderfully on my system. Being a former M60A3 crewman from the early 80's I would most be interested in seeing CW era additions. M48a3 & M551 especially. Any chance for branching out some & winding back the clock to the 40's? Rich field of armor from then & would no doubt go a long way to burgeoning the fan base of SB. To my laymans mind I woudlnt think it would be terribly difficult given the lack of systems on early tanks. I am a pretty fair cgi modeler & skinner working in 3DS Max & would be more than happy to make some models gratis should y'all be so inclined.
