Thanks for the comments. And, for what it's worth, eSim ... seems to me the bottom shadowing of the model is a bit dark in-game.

Some helos to fill some of the holes in the available livery. RogueSnake's template. Egypt: Iraq: Iran: Syria: I'll upload these after I've tinkered with them a bit more.
  3. This is super trivial but super easy to fix. The Mi8 Pilot skin in the Iran folder is wearing Syrian camo. Bug or geopolitical statement?
  4. Don't forget to do the "check for game updates" thing first. Reprogram your TrackIR hotkeys, because the defaults are already used by SB. Then select Track IR in the headtracking dropdown on the Controls setup and you're good to go. It admittedly has limited use in an armor sim. But that one use -- looking around the 3D environment like a human would -- is a big plus in my book. 4.0 changed the commander's view so that it centers relative to the hull rather than the turret. I hate that, and preferred my view to follow the turret like it does in real life. But I guess some folks were having trouble holding onto their cookies. Enjoy.
  5. This is what the 3D interior is all about, though, isn't it? Invest a few bucks in TrackIR. Then you can remove your eye from the sights and glance at the control panels as needed ... just like a regular human being.
  6. I just want to say I think it's very generous of you (and dejawolf) to freely release the detailed templates you used to create professional content for the game. I think everyone needs to realize that you don't have to do that. That's above and beyond, and I salute you.
  7. I'll steal Arvigna's thunder here, since I was already tinkering with an M113 project of my own (putting US and German paint on the G3 so all those scenarios using M113 FO's and Engineers wouldn't turn up in Danish camo.) Anyway, the amazing texture work is all RogueSnake's. He is a god. I just did some cutting/pasting between his stock A1 and G3 textures, plus a little color correcting. I do this sort of thing a lot for my own use; but I never upload them because the painting is really others' work. But I'll upload this one soon with that caveat, if you like, especially for this mission. Or, I could send it to you and you could include it in your mission package. Your call. For purposes of the readme, does the scenario in question take place in a summer/woodland theme? (i.e. the skin goes in the mods/textures/woodland/dk folder, right?)

    4.0 M113A3

The external fuel tanks on the A3-based models are semi-transparent.
  9. By the way, this seems to be the case on most of the truck-type vehicles with a commander riding shotgun and a vehicle weapon present. (Eagle, Dingo, Cougar, etc) And speaking of trucks, the technicals lose their color (go gray) when you occupy a crew position but have it when viewed externally.
  10. Using TrackIR, when in the commander's seat of the Humvee and LMV, the view scans with the gunner.
  11. I'm not a fan of the new infantry marching animation. In 3.028 troops walked at a fairly natural quicktime pace. Now it's something like watching a 1920s movie. Plus, when they're in column formation they can't seem to keep their interval. Close up/slow down/close up/slow down. ??

  13. Thanks. That's what I thought. Shame they had to "fix" that.
  14. Not a fan of this: "Fixed bug #3971; once the CDR is unbuttoned, the view will now stay relative to the vehicle hull (rather than the turret) to help reduce motion sickness when using TrackIR" Not that I'm eager to make anyone sick ... but I thought it was more realistic for your facing to follow the turret if you're sitting in the turret. Are commanders' seats in the turret really stabilized to the hull position?
  15. Some unpublished 3.0 pics for nostalgia's sake: Moving under cover into OBJ KERMIT during climactic battle in Camp Hornfelt. A typical ending of that scenerio for me. A mechanized version of the assault on OBJ KERMIT. This one reminded me of "The Walking Dead." Some small, forgotten desert scenerio. MAJ_Fubar's skin here. Action shot while working on a U.S. reskin for the Apache. Trying to be artful. Looking forward to 4.0.
  16. Look for a couple of executables in the game's "Release" folder.
  17. Yeah, he said it was a road. I ran a quick little test on some relatively flat highway and reached 110 kph in the ASLAV before I hit a house on a curve. That is using the joystick as an accelerator. Using the W key (which is not an accelerator but rather pre-set slow, fast and top speed settings) tops out at about 54 kph. There is, I believe, a reason for that, but I don't recall it just now -- something about avoiding bumper cars in mixed convoys, I think. Everyone's "top speed" needs to be the same in a convoy. If you're jonesin' to play Carl Edwards, use a joystick.

  19. Quick and dirty. (Not sure about posting pix in the new forum yet ... let's see how this goes.)
  20. Kev2go: Sorry, I don't have an answer for your issue. I just wanted to provide a bump and say it's a fluke that your post has been overlooked and it doesn't really represent the type of support you'll usually see from eSim. Typically you'll get a response even before the pixels have a chance to dry on your post. But, as Ssnake notes above, you've caught everyone at a rare time when attention is focused on ITEC in London and on the approaching release of a major upgrade in the software. Hang in there, someone will be along to help sort your issue if you're still experiencing it. And welcome to the forums.
  21. Re: MRAPS. I understand and agree with Gibsonm's point about onboard troops being rendered "combat ineffective" in the event of an encounter with a mine or IED. I get the fact that the sim handles a concussion the same as a decapitation. And I also wouldn't want to see players using MRAPs in any sort of a gamey manner to get troops across a minefield, for example. My peeve has been the effective 100 percent loss of borne troops 100 meters from a blast. Being dismounted at that distance is just as "survivable" in the sim at present. We might just as well transport troops in that odd golf-cart-like thingy in the video. Until the issue is addressed, these kewl MRAP models are essentially eye candy. Not that there's anything wrong with eye candy. Bring it on. I do appreciate Ssnake's explanation of the 'why' though.
  22. Will the new mine-protectant vehicles shown (and the ones already in the sim) now provide carried troops with some degree of protection from mines?
  23. Good point. I was going to ask how the TC does it in the real world. Although ... assuming the use of a joystick setup, one could set his mouse for left-hand use and mimick the functionality. :clin:
  24. Agreed. but .. On the subject of hot keys ... and because I'm wide awake tonight ... I haven't looked into every vehicle thoroughly, but I get the impression that switchology-related hot keys in the sim generally are confined to those switches out of your view when using optics. For example, when your view is focused on the TIM in the Leo2 (F2), the buttons for smoke are out of view. But you know where they are. So there's a hot key for smoke. On the other hand, you can see and have access to the clickable toggles to set the peri at 12 and 6 and to switch between TIM and GPSE -- so, no hot keyS for those. There are some exceptions (Leo2's TIM magnification and polarity), but you need hot keys for those in the M1, because you can't see them with your eye pressed to the GPS, and you probably have the muscle memory to know where they are without pulling your eye off the sight. Right? Ergo ... and back on topic ... in the M1A2, the GLOS buttons are right there in front of your face when using the CITV. So you click them. You don't need no steenking hot key. What do you think? Am I right?
