Well, I already wrote here in the forum that the coming upgrade in December will bring a playable Challenger 2. Beyond that I don't want to talk much at this point. A comprehensive overview of the upgrade will be posted in the weeks before the release.

That being said, expect a patch for 2.546 soon, to fix issues with computer-controlled units spotting enemy (that is, their apparent inability to recognize enemy in plain sight).

Oh yes, Scott aka Archangel..

The only field commander, you name it, that I could never beat, one on one, even in Ghost Town (one of my favorites) when I had him down to 1 tank and I had 4 remaining..

The guy moved like cat, did just the opposite of what I, you, did..

And the one time, during a critical battle, during one of the TGIF Best out of, IIRC, 7 games, he came in at the last minute, we all "saved our battle plans" and went back to the, I forget what it was called, ok, let's call it the_staging area.

And, as fate would have it, it was our turn, to choose.. (perfect!!) It was me CO of the team, Brun XO of our team and no sooner than we started the planning stage, again to bring Scott up to speed, with the game-plan, Scott/Archangel jumped right in and started making the game plan.. lol, and Brun, being fearless and the best XO one could have, jumped his shit and told him to shut the fuck up, lol, as Brun and I had made the plan 4 days before the battle, going over it twice, making changes (Brun's input) and Scott went silent, but of course, remained a "deadly silent warrior" and we devastated the other team and took the series, 7 - 0 undefeated, eventually.

Priceless days, moments, and I understand, totally, why Scott is where he is..

Well, we all agree on the value of Dogs, that's for sure, and the heartache that comes with each, that we come to the end of the trail with, but never forget..

All I know is some day, some how, their spirits will come back and jump into a puppy (this time) and when that day comes (the wife says ok) I'm getting 2 puppys, a boy and a girl, and their spirits will jump into both of them (all 7) and they will look like, from this:

KT, RC died from bladder cancer, which we had a tube inserted where the cancer growth (non-operable) blocked his means of peeing, but that bought him, and us, 4 of the most wonderful months of quality time, as he never complained, or acted, like he had an operation.. He had the same-look of pride like in the pic (3rd month after the operation) but as warned, by the Dr., it would quickly spread to all parts of his body when it happens and, when it did, it went into his lungs.. But RC had that same look on our last day together, till the very end, when he went to sleep in my arms.

Best thing that ever happened to me in life, (the dogs) and worst/deepest scars, 7 of them. But they find their way back home, that I know..

Don't we all? As SB (forum) is "home" to me, always will be..

Many a great battles with ya and against ya, but ya always showed class in the victories and the same in some of the loses.. Ground Zero, it describes how I feel, as I had to let Bear, Battledog, our German Shepherd, go today, due to the rapid, spreading, Cancer throughout his great body, and the continued blood loss out his nose, and within. I had no idea today would be it, as he was so strong, pulling me into the Vets office, but I got the dreaded phone call that he had less than 2 weeks, if that, before the effects would turn his strength into mush, and his glow in his eyes to sadness, that I have seen 6 other times with the other German Shepherds of my/our lives and decided, while he was still under, to continue his sleep..

Gonna be a while before I can get past this, I'm a wreck, so is the wife, but I think of all the great times, and SB battles, that he laid right next to me here, at the PC, with his head next to the Boom Box, most every battle.

Life sucks, I think I'm in some kind of train wreck..

Finally, I'm completely lost in trying to orient myself in game. For example, is there anyway to tell if which way you're looking with regard to a compass heading. I was doing the artillery tutorial and saw a target shooting at me, but had no idea which direction the fire was coming from? I could see the fire, but had no idea on how to put artillery on it. I know that by looking at the map, I can use grid coordinates, but how in the world do I know where the enemy is just by looking in that direction? Thanks in advance.

On SA (situational awareness) 2 things remain consistant in any battle..

1. While looking at the map, the Top of your screen/map is always N, the bottom is always S, your right side is always E, and your left side of the screen/map is always W.

2. This is also true with your "tank-clock" you see in the lower rt corner, and if in the gunners position, etc., the tank-clock will always show you which way you are looking, or the gun barrel is facing. That is the key, which way the gun barrel is pointing, or the front of the tank is heading.. One, the front hull, can be heading/pointing left/West, and the gun barrel can be facing Up/North.. etc.

This never changes.. Top of screen is N, bottom is S, right is E, left is W.

Also, each square grid is 1000m by 1000m, so if you see a target, and lase it, or go to the map and it shows up, you can measure quickly, the aprox distance and direction in which to lay your artty on a target.

Hi, I'm a dumb teenager, who is hoping for the USCG, and besides the coast Guard i love tanks, therefore, when I came upon this AMAZING looking game here, I instantly wanted it, however looking over your purchasing thing there it says that Their mainly sold to soldiers ect. this kind of put me off seeing as I don't know if I would be shunned or somesuch by the real tankers soldiers here. Sooo, therefore I'm asking, and feel quite stupid, should I wait until '07, or should I buy it now?

You would not be the first young teenager and non-military (least yet.. lol) person to get involved with SB. Many of our younger members become quite good at the sim, as they learn by mistakes and by emulating vets of the sim, both real vets of many different militarys from around the world, along with many civi's that are vets of SB as well.

I would only tell you it has a steep learning curve, but in my view, that is its staying power, for many in here, over 3yrs average, and still going.

I would also compare it to Chess, it is both a thinking game, as well as fast reflexes do apply.

Last, you will always have full support, with any, and all questions you will have, either thru posting them here in the general forum, or by talking with anyone in SB Team Speak.

You could start off with finding a copy of SB1 gold, for around 10 bucks, and from that, you would have a good feel and idea of how Pro Pe works, less the 3D graphics, etc., of Pro Pe.

Good luck with whatever decision you make.
