  1. http://www.dejawolf.com/steelbeasts/SBtemplates.html

You will need a photo editing app that works with layers in order to take advantage of Deja,s templates. The texture grid thingy that HH refers to is a locator for parts that aren't easily recognizable on the UV map. Most of the parts will be. If you're trying to lay out a unique paint scheme and you want your demarcation to line up it sometimes helps to cut all the relative parts and arrange them as a single unfolded image so you can line everything up. I can't emphasize this enough learn the toolbox of your editing app.

  2. C,

Good to see that you're still alive and kickin'.

Thanks Tac I guess I'm doing ok for someone breezing through their 6th decade.

  3. Seem to have lost my windshield. I don't see on the a and b textures that there is an alpha channel on the original psd files. Any ideas?

I think it is one of the files under window.dds or window wood.dds

  4. Well, we didn't want to make it too complicated. In any position that is not the driver's position, driving commands must be understood in SB as commands to the driver who will then follow your intent instead of literally turning the steering wheel per your key presses.

But it does exactly the same when you occupy the drivers position so it does not mimic a steering wheel but is the opposite. It is counter-intuitive or complicated. The D key should tell the driver the vehicle goes to his right whether forward or reverse.

  5. VFR is correct, in a vehicle if you turn to the right you go in a clockwise circle forward and a counter-clockwise circle in reverse in SB you go clockwise in forward and reverse which I don't believe is correct.

  6. Meerkatte, lol. I you feel like bonus points, pronounced 'Mear-cut' in the original Afrikaans :) It helps to roll the 'r'.

Probably close to the same in Dutch, I would think. But I think it refers to a type of Monkey which starts with an M.

  7. Thats a Mongoose. (I think)

The meerkat or suricate, Suricata suricatta, is a small mammal belonging to the mongoose family. Meerkats live in all parts of the Kalahari Desert in Botswana, in much of the Namib Desert in Namibia and southwestern Angola, and in South Africa. A group of meerkats is called a "mob", "gang" or "clan". A meerkat clan often contains about 20 meerkats, but some super-families have 50 or more members. Meerkats have an average life span of 12–14 years.

  8. Congo, that is a work of art !, be kind of you let me use it. Do you start your work with a template ? or use the default skin and customise it ?

A little of each depending on what I'm trying to acheive. I'll sometimes make a template with all the hardware I intend to highlight, nuts, rivets etc. And leave them as layers so they can be used on all models of the same type. When doing weathering most definitely work with layers. I guess a lot I just do by hand as I've used photoshop so much I can just do it. The best thing you can do is learn your photo-editing software,s toolbox, how to do straight lines, circles and various shapes and how to work with layers, drop shadow and such. anyway here is the file with turret top.

    Enjoy

  9. Nick,

This is the one I run in game and is 1024, It was developed from the one I attached and the one I included in my Spanish pack. It is more detailed and better balanced than the attached one in the earlier post. If you would like to have it just say the word and I will attach this one also.

  10. Nick,

Here is a fairly detailed Piz that I worked on some time ago, never got around to finishing it and it is 2048x2048 but you are welcome to make it your own with markings and such, roof dds is in there also.

  11. Why is some of the pixel size width and height not the same for all, for example one of them shows 1024x1024, resolution: 96 while allot of them are 512x512?

Will it hurt if I make them all the same?

Should I convert a dds file to bmp to make the changes to them and then convert back to dds?

What about using the effects - sharpen?

    And finally, why 1024x1024?

I believe the default size for most of the vehicles is 1024 but if you want to get ultra details on your skin you can increase the size at the expense of possibly slowing down older computers. Track files were originally 128 or 256 I usually bump them up to 512 in order to get a little more detail. If you are reworking the UV maps you can make them whatever floats your boat. 32,64,128,256 and so on. Just remember to constrain the proportions. So if it is 128X256 you can increase to 256X512.

  12. The text is probably in the alpha layer. If you're using Photoshop, click on layers and scroll down. Should be at the bottom.

I think the alpha is found in channels. Should be at bottom of RGB.

  13. Thanks. fantastic work.

Have you any plans to use this camo patton for a ZSU/BRDM/BTR/MTLB

Not being greedy. just a fan of your work it would be great to have the collection.

    Marko,

Those models have not changed, if you look back through the d/l section I believe you will find the MTLB and the BTR in Finnish camo but they will be marked with rondels and such. Zip and I did these quite some time ago so you may have overlooked them. I have attached a no markings version if you would like them without the rondels and other markings. There should be an MT-55 bridgelayer also maybe at some point I will get around to doing the T-55 and the tracked AA. Glad you enjoy the skins!

Here they are with no markings

  14. Here is a beta version to try out, think of it as an early Christmas present. No markings but if one of the energetic Finns wish to lay on the rondels and such feel free. BMP-1, BMP-2, T-73M1, turret top and tracks are also in the package. There are some blank decal dds,s also if you wish to block out the default markings. Its probably a good idea to back up any custom decal files you may have in your mods folder. All Vehicle textures are 1024,s so as to be user friendly for all computers. Track files are slightly larger than defaults but again user friendly. Give me some feedback. Enjoy
