  1. I think (could quite possibly be wrong) that he wants to wirelessly connect the video output from his computer to the TV monitor. While you can connect various models of TV to home networks (either via ethernet or WiFi) that's basically for video streaming (a la Apple TV, etc.) not as an output option for a PC video card. Sure if your PC supports HDMI (or if both TV and PC support a common standard [VGA / DVI, etc.]) and you have a long enough cable you can go that way.
  2. Tweaked the call sign template. First Troop selected is "10" to reflect SHQ / CHQ So fighting sub units need to be the second and subsequent units created (or the person renames them after creation). Currently with some UK contacts before I submit it for upload as a "Commonwealth" standard (or near enough).
  3. They are used to provide a "false bow" for amphib vehicles to improve their displacement and divert the bow wave and ensure the water doesn't flood engine compartments or driver's hatches or .... I believe ASLAV, BMP 1 and BMP 2 have "working" trim vanes whilst M113 have them on the model but not "working". No doubt there are others too. Usually they are on the front of the vehicle. Tanks (apart from PT-76) tend not to have trim vanes as they don't swim but rather ford.
  4. Hmm OK. Wonder where I got that from?
  5. No great urgency or import on this. If I have three it doesn't make much difference.
  6. Well not sure what your definition of "a while" is but I was able to use it pretty much all day on New Year's Eve (my time). Also just check "now" (1526 "here"/ 0426 Zulu) and its back up.
  7. Taking a break for the New Year? <13:00:58>Trying to connect to server on 216.22.24.158 <13:01:03>Failed to connect to server TaskForce 2011 seems to be "off" too: <13:03:13>Trying to connect to server on 87.106.221.28:9913 <13:03:18>Failed to connect to server Public Channel seems OK though.
  8. One might also consider reading (yes, an outmoded method of information acquisition these days ) some of the works that actually come with the software in the "Docs" folder. For most they can be found in some variation of: C:\Games\SB Pro PE 2.640\docs ArmorBasics Battlefield Hazards, version 6.1 Choosing ammunition - version 2.1 FM 101-5-1 Platoon Tactical SOP
  9. We can but hope! But I suspect the Black Tower of Redmond will be with us for a while yet (even though Balmer seems to be doing his best).
  10. Hi, I think I now have three distinct record "identities". Is it possible to consolidate them into a single "*.ppf" file?
  11. CO, What is the Date /Time group for confirmatory orders on the "6th"? Preferrably in GMT / Z format.
  12. Agreed, but then proving the route for a Regt sized pure Tk C-ATK force implies that we aren't in "IED land" anymore Toto.
  13. What do you mean by "can't open"? Can't add in Mission Editor? Can't open in the Map Editor? Can't use scenarios using those maps? If its the Map Editor did you install the software as "administrator" as directed in the Release Notes?
  14. Well 1830 on 01JAN12 here and all's well.
  15. I appreciate you may have high standards but as the guys under your command said yesterday "good job". I was on the other side of the hill and you sure gave us a run for our money. Everyone enjoyed the challenge and I'm not sure we can expect more than that. Having said that I think there is usually hesitation about being a CO so if you are volunteering, I don't think many will stand in your way.
  16. Welcome! Well there's a few options: 1. The "regular" scheduled Thank God Its Friday (at least where its hosted) is on almost every :"friday". There is a countdown clock on the home pages listing the IP address and Teamspeak area. Basically you get onto TeamSpeak and at the appointed time whoever is there plays. 2. There are often planned activities where the organiser announces a date and people meet then. Current examples are: The "Multi national task force engagement": http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=15750 where people crew the variouis vehicle types against the Soviet horde, and The "T-72 Campaign": http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=15608 where people crew the venerable Soviet rustbucket/warhorse. 3. Join a virtual unit and participate in the scheduled events (as and when they happen). There is no online server where battles are offered 24/7 (if that is what you were looking for) but people from all over the world play, so pop into Teamspeak when you can and odds are someone else will be there. Or you can advertise for a specific date/ time if you want (ideally give the date/time in Greenwich Mean Time so everyone can convert it to their time zone).
  17. Have you set the tactics to "defend" and set it the unit up to defend the sector that the tank is approaching from?
  18. Again I'm not anti the idea. I'm up for the challenge and happy to sign up while skirting the security minefield.
  19. If you pick the squad / team that has the AT-4 you can jump to it and at least "watch" from nearby.
  20. And I agree. I never said it was a "bad idea". I said it would be a challenge to convey that much information is a short series of videos. For example, look at Toyguy's Scenario design video series. We up to what episode 10 and we have only part of one side's plan. That is certainly not to denigrate Toyguy's sterling efforts but I believe just reflects the time required to clearly demonstrate skills that some might gloss over as "assumed knowledge". All you need is for someone in the video to say a line like: "I've decided on a mounted 2up assault from an FUP on the left as it avoids the engagement area and gets to the decisive terrain early" and you'll a mass of follow up Q's on: What is 2Up? Can I use other formations? When? What is an FUP? How should I move to the FUP? What is an engagement area? What is Decisive Terrain? Why from the left? What happens if its night (or day)? What happens if I have Bushmaster instead of M113AS4 or Bradley or Marder or BMP or BTR or ... ? What happens if I don't have vehicles? What do I use this artillery for? Are there different uses for my tanks? So that (to me) simple statement generates a bunch of supplemental Q's because it assumes a heap of knowledge and if you go back to "first principles" then you are looking again at conveying a mass of information. Also note that none of what I've talked about above covers "What should I be doing in my tank / IFV while all this is going on?". Again I'm not saying its a bad idea, I'm saying its a challenge to keep this to a series of "short, simple videos".
  21. Great driver visbility from the new "lay on the turret" position.

As I said I made a new PL. I didn't try changing a PL already there. Perhaps worse case you need to remove the "2.5 PL" and replace with a "2.6 PL" to get this feature, but I'm not saying that's a fact.
