  1. Thanks! Now as long as that M88 jockey who turned up in the hide has some spray paint, we may even have C Tp all painted up for tomorrow’s “big show”.
  2. OK had some RL issues but back in the saddle now. As PMs don’t support attachments, I’ll post the SoM here and if Hardrock is happy the CO will have visibility too. The area to my East between my location and DIE EMME looks like a pretty good engagement area and I suspect the KLEINENBREMEN - TODENMANN defile will be defended with a probably obstacle belt and perhaps a MR PL (+). I also suspect that some dismounted elements of the MR PL that was destroyed on the E30 (wrecks in the EA) may have survived. I thought of attempting to bypass this block by sending units along route “A” but it wont spt more than say 2 x M1 and 2 x M2 and no doubt it wont have missed the attention of his engineers (or FASCAM missions). Proposed COA: TP complete traverse the Northern side of the EA (Left flank shielded by the terrain) and assault the Southern end of the obstacle belt (roughly the area DIE EMME and North to the secondary road) that should give me some open ground without trying to pick my way through the forest nearer the E30 (with the subsequent reduction in frontage / cbt power). This assault to be supported by smoke/HE and the Engr travelling two bounds behind who will follow the axis of assault but will then turn and follow the E30 and recce / clear any obstacles in the area where the E30 passes through the forest. Once the suspected Soviet position at the junction is cleared, the TP will conduct the following subsequent ops: 1. CO + Tk PL + M3 PL to move North into KLEINENBREMEN along route “1”. CO to continue along route B to RV with B TP CO. Tk PL + M3 PL to clear KLEINENBREMEN. Tk PL + M3 PL to occupy overwatch positions into Northern EA to deny high speed route. 2. XO and M3 PL to move along route “2” and establish block on E30 and spt fires into Northern EA. 3. Plough Tk PL to spt Engr effort to reduce obstacles on E30 BPT block En adv from vic TODENMANN BPT to provide TP Situational Reserve 4. FO to provide anchor OP to spt initial assault. Then move with XO to observe into Northern EA. 5. Admin elm to move fwd to LOHFELD on order. Movement East from CONCORD to CABOOSE maybe difficult given the overriding requirement for force preservation. Although good M3 BPs could well provide TOW engagements as far East as CABOOSE, but not the same as “boots on the ground”. For Co-Ord and deconfliction I’ll rename “Northern EA” to something the S3 is happy with.
  3. Looks great! I'm guessing they are queued up awaiting approval for the downloads site?
  4. Yes, I’m not sure if John is aware of the “scope of works“ here. John - Think of CM:SF map creation effort but doing 20 x 10 km instead of 2 x 1. That’s why most scenarios “borrow” existing maps rather than start with a blank sheet. Of course if you do have the mapping data for these areas, I suspect a few people will buy you multiple beers.
  5. Sure but compared to a Pnz 2000 its still pretty much a Napoleonic muzzle loader.
  6. Sure but going forward it would be useful. The ADF at least (and no doubt all the other customer nations) trains in a 2011 time frame not “if it were the mid 80’s”. So current trg requires the smaller units (reflecting the increased sophistication of fire control systems - multiple rounds in the air from the same gun on different trajectories, etc.) and their increased mobility (e.g. the “shoot and scoot” issue). But it also needs to be able to be turned off / disabled if people do want to replicate these earlier time frames.
  7. Well not quite. At least there you have Leo I / II and Marder. I’ve not tried it but I believe through a combination of tweaking the ammunition and “damaging” stuff that’s too new (say TI) you can get a suitable 1980s look alike.
  8. BAOR scenarios would be constrained by kit. Currently there’s “only” Challenger 2 which is a bit too modern to replicate Chieftain. There‘s also no FV432 or CVRT Scimitar equivalent.
  9. Arguably it could said to be cool if they did that in RL now. I’ve found out there’s a reason why there’s a 1000m danger trace for peace time bombing runs.
  10. No I’m happy with whatever nomenclature the group goes with. So if US speak is the “common denominator” then happy with Platoon. I just thought being a Brit you’d prefer “Troop” as the usual sub element of a “Battery”.
  11. Ah so that would be a touch more than “less than 100 rounds” then?
  12. I doubt it since “going” implies its yet to be developed.
  13. Didn’t you get the memo?
  14. Wilco. As per SOP, back brief via PM later today and if in line with your intent will back brief CO on these means.
  15. Well make sure you get some of it forward to the guys who don’t have access to a barista and can’t spend most of the day watching the TV.
  16. Have installed it, just in case "Muleskinner" gets lost and comes forward to me.
  17. I’ll bet he’s pi**ed that the connection issue he thought was fixed is still hanging around.
  18. Well I was distracted. Mind you talk about a technical tour de force, getting those big clunky 1980s cameras in the turrets to get “sight vision” and then whisking them back to some safe location to compile the footage, all in a period well before embedded journalists were the “norm”. I definitely need to talk to my agent though.
  19. Ah disregard the email I sent you a couple of minutes ago then.
  20. Sir, Roger. Obviously its within your power to cross allocate as you see fit but thanks for letting me know.
  21. OK so “we” got through that one (albeit with some work to do for the spanners by the sounds of it). Are the feeds from that going to appear in my battle as “pop up” messages to maintain the concurrency aspect? Or will I get a brief before I cross the LD?
  22. Bl**dy Hell? Sort of glad I’ve only got the Soviets (and the occasional withdrawing West German column) to worry about.
  23. Ah so you don’t have a clue as to what that was about either? Glad I’m not the only one.
  24. Sir, Thanks for the update! I hadn’t noticed before that nice long stretch of the E30 going through the woods (got short range contact / ambush written all over it). The boys are itching to go.
