  1. Well I'm pretty new in SB pro pe, I mean I had two one month licenses about a year ago but I ended up not having the time to go deep into it or at least not as would have wanted to, each time. So I recently bought the usb license to be sure to have the time (this time). However, that's where I see the line between "game and hobby" I'm not new to simulation since the "realism feelings" is what I seek, even if I don't have any experience what so ever with the military. It's just that "classic" games, meant to be played by many (kids included), are IMHO somehow "dull", you spawn you shoot you die and so on... In a simulation what you do really matters, you have that feeling of "being here" and you have to learn to do the most basics things. That's why I spent a lot of time in DCS already and why I'll do the same on SB. So far, for me, learning new fire control systems are not the harshest thing. I can't say that I really master anything but, for an exemple, some days ago I jumped into a BMP-2 and I went to the wiki to know how it works, how to use the ATGMS and in no time I could do the basics with it. For me the true "big step" will be to understand the "tactic" aspect of the game; how the interface in the map really works, how to lead your forces and what tactics to use, how to set up support sections, how and when to use it... Or even how to order infantry to assault a position without being butchered.
  2. It has change, indeed. However, in my humble opinion, I believe that those multi purpose light weight wheeled vehicles are invaluable assets for any armed forces. In terms of budget it's a win win : three times cheaper than an ariete, lighter (which means less expensive to bring around the world) and wheels to have a better fuel autonomy. It's agility allow it to travel a great deal of distance on it's own, this without tiring the crew as a tracked vehicle would, with a much than decent speed. Perhaps it would prove outdated in the case of a full scale modern country but in the kind of low intensity conflicts that happen pretty much every year, unfortunately, this tool is a great deal. Undeniably that would be a serious problem.
  3. Thanks for the informations ! I was sure that you built the vehicles with the help of their owners to get access to some data or at least "advices". Well I can't imagine the gathering of informations process, it must have been complex to say the least. I feel I have been unmasked here !
  4. Indeed If we can drive the M1 or leopard, if I understand correctly, it's due to the fact that the army and the bundeswehr ordered a simulation of their machines to train their crew. So it's very nice for us to be able to access it as well (at least mostly). But the downside is that we can't use some machines because they were not subject of those contracts and nations like russia and france do not like to share data of their equippement anyway, even for the old models. Which means the odds of them becoming available to use are not good. However I wouldn't say "no" to some simplified models like we had with the shot kal, it may be a good way to fill the gap.
  5. Ok thanks let's keep our fingers crossed
  6. Thanks for the answer Ssnake, I did not know that the T-90 was that close to the T-72, I did know that it's an upgrade but I tought it was improved enough to be a good match for the west forces. Personally I do not seek fair balance and, to be honnest, I enjoy playing the underdog. Like I said in my previous post I made a mistake since I'm not really used to write (or speak) in english, I was wondering if it will be possible to crew them in some future.
  7. Thank you ! However my english wasn't quite accurate, I was talking about being able to drive those tanks and assume gunner and commander positions since, if I remember correctly, the crewable russian tanks are t-55, t-62 and T-72s. So I'm sure that T-80 and T-90 can fight back and that's why I'd like to crew them for 90s missions on the pact side
  8. Hello there ! Maybe this has been suggested/wished before but late russian tanks (T-80 and T-90) would be nice to resist against modern NATO tanks like M1A1, Leo 2 and Challenger. I'd also really like to be able to drive the Leclerc (and the Merkava) even in a simplified way like the Shot Kal.
