  1. No, a Leclerc (let alone a playable one) is not on the list, I'm sorry. We want to do it justice by doing it right rather than rushed.
  2. I don't think that this is a case of misreporting. What probably happened - without having a clear description of the action, or an AAR file to check - is that the IFVs let loose a volley of missiles. Once that they open fire, the fight is on and there is no reason for them to hold back. We may need to implement a limitation that such a vehicle would continue to fire only the weapon with which it opened fire on that specific target unless it comes under fire and must consider itself as detected, and with no route available to exfiltrate its position.
  3. It may not be the case in the current version, but according to the current source code the maximum engagement range for this particular round is 1200m. We had a critical revision of the maximum ranges this spring, and I wouldn't rule out that this part hasn't been touched by the 2.552 update. The next version however will cover this. That being said, before opening fire with a particular type of ammunition computer-controlled crews will always check whether they at least have a remote chance to cause some damage (unless they are under fire and are not allowed to abandon their position (remember: "Defend" without an unconditioned route for escape means that they will interpret it as a "die in place" order)).
  4. There's reason to hope that pathfinding will work better in the future.
  5. To be honest, I don't know. I haven't yet played around with the Challenger too much. But I think that the gunner's sight can be replicated in the commander's peri view.
  6. It may once have been super-secret squirrel stuff, but ever since AFV Sim made a replica, the info is out in the open.
  7. You will see it with the next release. Do, don't show ... and show, don't tell.
  8. I don't want to spoil the fun before the release, but daysight and thermal sight behave differently. Consider the thermal sight a clone of the M1's fire control system, and the daysight more like the Leopard 2, although they aren't identical of course. Also you may want to practice shooting with a game pad - ideally one with an analog joystick for the right thumb. To make things even more challenging in real life, the "stick" on the Challenger 2 is a piezo-electric thingie, so you don't control things with the actual ovement of the thumb but the amount of pressure that you apply with it...
  9. One problem with the game mechanics is that in order to capture a region, you must have physical presence in it. In reality, and this is important to keep in mind with respect to this scenario, it is sufficient to control a region. Which can be done by observation and fire (the terrain permitting). The center region would have been better off by controlling it from the north and south with stronger forces in either area, and a minimal force to occupy the region in the area behind the ridge line. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, though. Still, it's useful to mentally separate what are game mechanics from the tactical requirements, and to follow the game mechanics only where they either support the chosen tactic, or where (when!) they at least are not to the detriment of military requirements.
  10. Yes. Because it's mounted on the gun mantlet. It's ... a unique ... and very British solution.
  11. What do you expect to see? We don't have a 3D interior, so all I could possibly show are the same dull green thermal images and a round daysight reticle with yet another, smaller circle in the center.

    Cool Picture.

Is this a scene from "Iron Sky"?
  13. It may be a great relief for you to know that with our internal test version 2.578 the ability to save and load PLNs has been re-introduced. Kudos to Retro for this.
  14. As the Zulus originate from the southern hemisphere, their summer and winter time negates the British winter and summer time. Of all the people in this forum, you should know that, Mark.
  15. After the Zulu wars, they migrated to London.
  16. 11a. Victory Disease can be just as fatal. Just because you won a string of engangements, don't start to think that you couldn't lose next time.
  17. Finally, we meet again, Obi-Wan.
  18. Strictly private opinion/observation: There simply was no company in Spain with the experience to build heavy armored vehicles. Santa Bárbara Sistemas (SBS) built only light armored vehicles (e.g. the VEC and its PC derivative, the BMR) and performed some maintenance work on the tank fleet (mostly M60 and AMX-30, I think). The decision was made by the Spanish administration that they wanted to expand the industrial know-how and to license-manufacture a new MBT. At that point the Krauss-Maffei offer for Leopard 2 license production was considered the best offer (along with the leasing of 2nd hand Leopard 2A4 to help get the crew training started). At that point SBS was still an independent company. Later it was acquired by General Dynamics (and is now known as GD-SBS). Had the Spanish government waited to seeking a tank license-produced in Spain after that point, the Spanish Army today would probably drive in M1s (partly because GD would probably have been able to make a more attractive offer, partly because KMW would probably never have allowed a license production (with the associtaed exposure of manufacturing know-how) to a company already owned by one of their biggest competitors). At the core however the decision to acquire a new, heavy MBT was made partly because the tank fleet needed to be modernized anyway, but the dominant motivation was probably to develop the industrial know-how and capabilities. Whether the tanks are needed is an open question.
  19. No... I don't think that we were ever confronted with a customer's desire to have SB Pro ignore joystick input signals. However, I can see two possible workarounds. Make one of the connected sticks that is least likely to produce a signal - e.g. a game pad without gravity sensor - the "Preferred Device" in the Advanced Properties of the Game Controller setup applet. Steel Beasts Pro will use only the signal from the controller with ID#1 (the "preferred device").Otherwise, if you are experiencing drift from an overlapping joystick signal, use the command to recenter the stick (Ctrl+J? Alt+J?)
