  1. My understanding is that only the LAVs and grunts that swim can start in the new enclave as they are the only things that can cross? Or am I wrong?
  2. CR2 is fitted with seat belts through out but seldom used. Commander is usually head out, loader needs to be free to load and be ready to clear any stoppages. Gunner had a belt to but to stop him rolling about he has an adjustable chest pad so he can litterally box himself into his seat. Ref the thumb controller it is very good. It works by the use of pressure rarther than using any real movement. Its very smooth for tracking. If you have an inexperienced gunner though, he may sometimes when using it for the first time of the day apply to much pressure and cause the turret to jolt a bit but its very easy to adjust and callibrate your thumb so to speak.
  3. Tjays posts had a smiley face at the end. Surely that means there was no malice involved in the comments. Its like using the phrase "with all due respect Sir, but.............." I do think a H2H league could be fun though.
  4. I to have insurance, but I have never used it in 16 years. I seem to be a man that can when it comes to replacing things that have gone walkies. It pays to network through out the whole of the armed forces.
  5. There are a few unhappy bunnies at my place today. Someone dropped a TISH they were swapping out. Someone is not going to be paid for a while. Not sure of the cost but £200000 was being thrown around. Although with it being a piece of army equipment, the civilian equivalent will probably hell of a lot less.
  6. From the horses mouth, so to speak. "There seems to be some confusion about what happened and what shot etc. the range was just over 5100m. we had finished moving forward and had gone firm. i was scanning the horizon when picked up what i thought to be T62's across the valley. we had been shooting at whatever targets presented. i lased the target and was surprised by the range that came back, we started talking about having a go at the target amongst ourselves and The Colonel ok'ed the shot. it was a normal fin round, and after lasing again i fine laid the elipse onto the target and fired. it was central hit just below the turret, as to whether the target was manned, i don't know. however the shot i was really proud of is mentioned by Mad Pierre by mistake, which was a T62 mover reversing up and out of a hull down position at about 1500m, and was hit with a HESH first round through the top of the turret, again fine laid without autolay, never did like it much. hope this helps. i was always a lucky gunner".
  7. A few of my old comrades are playing tank commanders in that film as extras. Easiest £175 pound a day they say.
  8. Although im not a prolific poster on these great forums, I have been a lurker for a very long time, but lately all I seem to come across is bitchiness. If its not some one complaining about nothing, it is someone biting far to easily to a throw away comment. To be honest its getting pretty boring. I for one play because of the game play, not because how pretty things look. Things look great to me, its not the primary reason I bought the game. Hell, I cant even get custon skins to work, but I dont care. I just love blowing shit up. Try sitting in a simulator at CATT for 12 hours and not having fun. Even though my old amiga 1200 could probably do better graphics. Sorry about the short rant. I feel a bit better now.
  9. I had a pretty similar experience in Thessalonica in Greece just before Op Agricola in Kosovo. Turned up to unload my Challenger 1 off the RoRo and we were all asked what we could drive off. After giving our answer to the movement guys, the question was rephrased to what we fancied having a go at driving off as we were the only crews there at the time. So off we trotted looking for something cool to drive. AS90 FV432, massive diggers you name it we had a go. 1 guy didn't lift the forks up high enough on a big catapiller fork lift and hit the loading ramp at full pelt. Thought he had dislodged the boat! Happy days.
  10. There is also a rocker switch for the left thumb to align the gunner. Ill try and get a pic tomorrow.
  11. Thats right. 18 tanks total. And its Officer Commanding and Sqn 2IC if you will old chap.
  12. All very good in theory but where would we park them all. We don't have enough real estate for a full regt let alone an extra 21. Plus having the man power to fix and maintain them. We still have to find somewhere to shoe horn in another regiment yet. The rest of vehicles will sit idling away in whole fleet management up Ashchurch in CHE until required. They should have pressed up the remainder instead of binning them
  13. Not quite 40 out there. There is also the lot down Lulworth. A few at ATDU and several at Bovington. But I was refering to the operational lot within the 3 RAC Regts. My bad
  14. Then you are correct in the fact 63 tanks will be sat around doing nothing or be cut up to make more tins.
  15. Lt Col command Armoured regiment. Army 2020 have reduced tank sqns to 3 with the 4th becoming a command and recce sqn. 4 troops of 4 tanks with 2 more in sqn hq giving 18 tanks per sqn. Plus the 2 tanks in RHQ. Type 56 Regt. Regards
  16. yep, maybe we should try it against the SCOTS DG just in case the Scots do actually win their independence!!
  17. My "holiday" was alright thanks. We proved a small combined arms force of small over gunned little tanks and an infantry coy of Royal Anglians can decimate a Welsh battle group
  18. As a baseline, a list of the Lead Armoured Battlegroup concept for Army 2020: 1 x Sqn of Scimitar ( Supplied from Formation Recce) 1 x Sqn of WMIK ( Supplied from Formation Recce) 1 x Sqn of CR2 2 x Coy of Warrior 1 x Coy of Protected Mobility in Bulldog 1 x Recce Plt 1 x Support Coy (FSG, Anti tank, snipers etc)
  19. When do you think the Warriors and Scimitars will appear with BGTI? I suspect its still a case of no information?
  20. Shouting in the turret is a must. If you're not all shouting in the turret during an engagement your crews a bunch of poofs. I find you load much faster being all aggressive. Especially if you're continually loading HESH. That gets pretty tiring.
  21. HEAT ready? HESH, FIN or Coax are only ones we use. And loader just shouts LOADED. Doesn't matter what nature is loaded. Ill have to wait til November till I can have a play.
  22. A fair few people are worried about their i5/i7 rigs! I'm still plodding along with a Q6600 at a stock 2.4GHz. Who needs things to look pretty!
  23. All they have in there now is a washer bottle. Was E Spire.
  24. Its being implemented as part of 2020. Our Regt adopted it in January. Can't say when the QRH or RTR are. RTR are off to Afghan on H18 so will probably be in about 10/12 months.
  25. New structure for Armoured Regiment is a Sqn of 4 troops of 4 with the OC and 2IC in tanks making an 18 tank Sqn. Each Armoured Regiment will now only have 3 tank Sqns with a Command and Reconnaissance Sqn. HQ Sqn will now be QMs and MT etc.
