  1. Well you have a choice of Engineers CS matrix, a BG, Sqn/Coy, Recce Regt, Support 1 and 2 one. Then choose from 25 letters per BATCO sheet to match up with the right matrix to use on the correct net! It can confuse us, let alone anyone listening in.
  2. Just to add a few more into the mix. All assuming using training BATCO sheet. BG Net 0 - Control Station 0A - CO 0B - Command Vehicle (CV) 1 (Ops) (Main A) (CV Sultan) 0C - CV 2 ( Ops) ( this is under Main B i.e back up HQ) 0D - CV 3 ( ISTAR Group) ( Main A) 0E - CV 4 ( ISTAR Group. Usually NBC also) ( Main B) R11B- CO Tank R22B- Regt 2IC Tank When Sqn OCs chat on BG net they will be allocated a SQN/Coy C/S ie R10- A Sqn R20- B Sqn R30- C Sqn R40- D Sqn J10- A Coy J20- B coy J30- C Coy J40- D Coy Recce Work in pairs ( Scimitar) G21- OC Recce G21A- CVRT G22 G22A G23 G23A G24 G24A FST Teams In WR OPV K11 K12 K13 K14 Medical R14- Medical Officer R14B Armoured Ambulance ( Samaritan) R14C- Regimental Aid Post R14E- RAMC Section
  3. Snatch was just 1 tool available in the box. It wasn't the only vehicle available. Was it adequate at the beginning of Telic once the war fighting had finished? Of course it was. It was up to the job in many areas of Iraq. When the threat began to rise other vehicles were available. By Telic 10, we wouldn't have a jolly into Basra in anything less than a Warrior and CR2 with the occasional Mastiff when they started to become available. Its all about choosing the right vehicle for the environment and threat level. Unfortunately people were killed in Snatch. But the same can be said for Warriors, Bulldogs and a whole host of other vehicles. My last tour in Helmand, the previous BG had requested patrolling in berets! Our area had become that benign. Snatch again could probably have been utilised again, but the stigma remains, plus we do have better vehicles, although much larger and couldn't get where a Snatch or jackal could go. But that's why we have feet! Reference the Dog clutch, its other name is the grip switch, although you find references to the dog clutch in the AESP, I think its more of a hang over from days gone by. And poo to all you none believers! I wouldn't swap my tank for any other.
  4. Thanks Grenny. The tutorial didn't mention raising the launcher, thought it would be all set up to rock and roll! I'm now a steely eyed bringer of death using a TOW.
  5. STEEL BEASTS - Let the big dog eat. ( and a pic of CR2. wouldn't work with a Leo for obvious reasons) STEEL BEASTS - WARNING - This pussy cat bites back........Hard ( you can have a leo in this pic!!!) STEEL BEASTS - Hard, fast and extremely aggressive.
  6. Hi all, My question is nothing to do with the CV90 tutorial but with the M2 TOW tutorial but didn't want to create a new thread, My issue is that my M2 doesn't want to fire! I lase the target and it's within range. I then select TOW with the Home key and ensure i'm in high mag. Press space to fire and nothing. I get an indication in the bottom left corner that its firing but still nothing. This is happening in both TOW tutorials. Am I being a mong?
  7. I do love the sound of the Challenger. This vid was done down Bovington a few years ago. Project Reality did some samples for their game. Not sure how easy it would be to get their files. We helped them out a bit.
  8. Well I have only had a few goes on the range with the Challenger 2 and have to say I didn't enjoy it! Didn't feel right. I know its a simulation and will never be perfect but.....Na. Unless you actually fire a CR2 you will unfortunately never experience how smooth or accurate it actually is. I know a lot of data crunching goes into great games like this and will try and represent it as much as possible. After playing CR2 on this, no wonder people think the tank is pants. It unfortunately doesn't do it justice. Well obviously in my opinion.
  9. Thanks very much for your kind offers. Would I get an additional licence with my dongle, or are they bought separate?
  10. Thanks, i was searching this site for them all.
  11. Thanks. Are there anymore 654 files hidden anywhere as i can only find 1 that is only 32Mb?
  12. Good morning all, I didn't want to create a new thread so decided to post in this one. I have just bought this game after years of sitting on the fence. Just waiting for the dongle to arrive. In order to get ready for its arrival i have began to download the files, but for my sanity can someone please confirm what ones i'll need. I have downloaded all the 6.40 and the 6.54 upgrade one. Is this what i need or am I completely barking up the wrong tree? Thanks in advance. Neil
  13. Morning Irish, I have 2 month left on my current course. For what ever reason I was selected from a cast of 1000s and 'volunteered' to do a Pashtu course. I did my crew commanders way back in 2005, just when it was evolving from a cushy 6 month away from RD into the monster it has evolved into today. The Sigs, D&M and Gunnery are still pretty standard but Tactics now is much more physically intensive. Even back then we had more commanders knocking about than we had tanks.
  14. Called TI on the CR2, don't let the gunnery gods hear you! No not slaved, that's why you get the aiming mark floating around when you traverse, unless you take it to rev modes. And no I don't own the Pro PE yet! as Grenny alluded to, I have had a little bash with him, and my practice on the range was 100% kills and a little bit faster too, but you never know I may crack under the pressure knowing what's at stake.
  15. Evening all, Your correct Stuart, it is for HESH engagements. HESH techniques a 3 round engagement so it is used to bring the rounds on to target. For example, if the 1st round splashes plus and right of the target, the gunner will lay the aiming mark where the round landed and hit the ADD/DROP/Line button and place the aiming mark back on the target, the FCP will work out the correction. All the gunner has to do is fire again. No QFC on CR2, although it was fun on CR1, our long range HESH shoots are easier now the gun sight isn't slaved to the gun. We can see the targets even if the gun is fully elevated once we have lased it.
  16. The input device is fine, the aided lay is there purely to aid you if required. Once you are used to the pressure pad it is very good and easy to use, negating the use of aided lay. Although we are taught to use it during our gunners course.
  17. Lucky them! im so glad im on a course otherwise no doubt i would have joined them up there. Cant be any worse than Warminster
  18. Evening! I have the honour of wearing the 'Pink' Pants! Aided lay is basically fine tuning of your traverse as you track a target. Track your target, hit aided lay then fine adjust if you need it. It takes out some sensitivity from the thumb controller
  19. Hi all, being my first post and all, There is no need to lay on to any target once the target has been lased. The FCP does it for you. All we have to do as a gunner ( or commander if we get bored) is to keep the aiming point on the centre of mass and the computer compensated for any movement of the turret/ hull and tracking of the target ie the faster we traverse the more lead the computer applies for us. With reference the floating Ballistic Aiming Mark in thermal, it can be a pain in the bum for new gunners, however to simply stop the floating BAM, we simply degrade the system to reversionary level 1, which is a no no unless something is wrong but works perfectly well! Basically its a point and shoot system. Hope this helps with any enquiries.
