  1. Thought it odd nobody had mentioned M1 Tank Platoon. Played the original version on my son's Amiga 500 and I remember having to spend a small fortune on a Voodoo 3dfx graphics card to get M1TP II to run on my PC. I was so disappointed when M1TP III was cancelled, but, someone at Microprose sent me an email with a link and said I might be interested in this.............. It was a link to the demo version of 'Steel Beasts'
  2. Yes, these are hydraulic controls and are actually from a Marder, not a Leopard. We have a set in our 'Control Handle Museum' 😊 The same ebay seller has a set of control handles from a Leopard 1A5 https://www.ebay.com/itm/TANK-LEOPARD-COTROLLER-STICK-HANDLE-CONTROL-HYDRAULIC-BUNDESWEHR-BW-GERMAN-ARMY/173552667258?_trkparms=aid%3D333200%26algo%3DCOMP.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20190129125700%26meid%3D38f8128c774c45f390fcbf5266e578a8%26pid%3D100752%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D172976831998%26itm%3D173552667258&_trksid=p2047675.c100752.m1982 These are much easier to convert to a USB device for Steel Beasts as they use standard potentiometers and switches. We've converted a few of these ourselves.
  3. To compliment the Haynes book/manual on Challenger 2 (https://haynes.com/en-gb/challenger-2-main-battle-tank-manual) I've just ordered this one on Challenger. https://haynes.com/en-gb/challenger-1-main-battle-tank
  4. Yes, these are the approved versions. During the photo session, we had to periodically hand the camera over to security, who downloaded the cameras contents onto their laptop. We never had possession of the original images. Although the image of the open TOGS door was seen as sensitive, the RAC recruiting brochure in 2001 had a picture of a CR2 with the TOGS door open. Our POC at Bovington/Lulworth camp sent us this leaflet along with a virtual 3d tour of the CR2 on CD. This CD was given away at recruiting events and was unclassified. http://www.armchair-travel.com/military/ I still have a copy of the cd, but I can't get it to run. IIRC, the program has an issue with QT, or something similar.
  5. Are you referring to the photo session held at Lulworth in 2001? Images of the open TOGS door and anything that gave an indication of the top armour values were indeed censored, but the rest of the internal and external images complied with the requirements of the security branch. Examples of the censored images attached. Perhaps you are referring to another photo session.
  6. We're happy to loan a CVR(T) Scimitar handcrank set and CR2 controls.
  7. Yes, it does look good. I like the idea of a Steel Beast stand at Tankfest. It might piss off the sponsors though (World of Tanks) 😃
  8. https://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/4340-sb-pro-pe-workstation/ AFAIK, in the PE version, control panels can only be used as input devices. The status lights, numerical displays etc. would have no function.
  9. Last time I bought a Haynes manual was for a Honda CB900FA around 1990. Got this one today for the Challenger 2. Looks interesting. Plenty of internal images and line drawings. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/1785211900/ref=asc_df_178521190058657713/?tag=googshopuk-21&creative=22110&creativeASIN=1785211900&linkCode=df0&hvadid=310941996689&hvpos=1o1&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14219078065932284296&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1007143&hvtargid=pla-555956404782&th=1&psc=1

  11. Showing next week. UK release only for now.
  12. In the UK, our emulated control handles require an export licence under entry ML14 of Schedule 2 of the UK Strategic Export Control Lists. 13. Announced on 31st March. https://ukdefencejournal.org.uk/british-army-selects-boxer-armoured-vehicles/ https://www.shephardmedia.com/news/landwarfareintl/british-army-finally-selects-boxer-miv/
  14. The Boxer CRV's gunners control handle look similar to one we've developed for a desktop trainer for another vehicle.
  15. The crate's packed and ready for collection. I can relax a little now. https://www.facebook.com/afvsim/photos/a.1672834949661940.1073741834.1667658066846295/1940084036270362/?type=3&theater
  16. So true. Hence the reason BAE, the design authority for the CR2 are recruiting. http://www.baesystems.com/en-uk/careers/careers-in-the-uk/featured-roles/team-challenger-2

    DVD2016

One visitor wouldn't leave the stand until he had hit all 10 targets on the gunnery range scenario. He used over 140 rounds.

    DVD2016

The DVD2016 exhibition went really well for AFV Sim, much better than expected to be honest. Considering it's not focused on simulation training, there were times when our stand was completely swamped with visitors. There were requests to set up a Challenger 2 gunnery range leader-board at the next event and we're going to award the top scorer of each day a copy of Steel Beasts Pro PE. http://www.theevent.co.uk/

    DVD2016

That's correct. We promote Steel Beasts whenever we can, even though the UK MoD are VBS users. If fact, I'll be using Steel Beasts today at an acceptance test for two of our new control handles.
