  1. Did I miss the cut off for getting one of these? 😁
  2. Just FYI, I was Phantom Captain on the Kanium Discord but have changed my name there to match now to avoid confusion.
  3. I am in the USA, Chicago. GMT -5. Purchasing my headphones today or tomorrow so once I get them I will let you know a time.
  4. Ok, I'm gonna pick up some new headphones and mic tomorrow. I meant that my Xbox headphones don't work on the PC. Ok, that sounds like a good plan then. Put me down as a gunner for someone?
  5. Thinking about signing up for this. Will make sure I am clear on Sunday but really want to give it a go. Where needed, I think, would be best for a FNG? 😁 Also, I tried to set up teamspeak but realize I think I need a new headset with microphone. My Xbox one only has one plug and won't pick up the mic. Any suggestions on what to get?
  6. Thanks again!! I did discover these and have been going through them as things come up. Somethings are just easier to ask if I have looked for answers but haven't found them. There really are a ton of helpful documentation and videos! I've been dropping back mostly to the manual and the wiki when I have questions. Or those videos you first posted as well.
  7. Haha! Ok, that explains it. I have been playing on High Realism. Thanks as always! Got it on the helicopters too! That does make a bit of sense. I will now go about figuring out how to do all that!
  8. Excellent! I will do so and soon! I do think I am ready. The only way to learn is to make mistakes, fail and then correct them! It's even better with help of course. I have some hours in now and actually had a couple successful single player missions in the M1A1, M1A2 and the Leo A5. The muscle memory and comfort of feeling like I partially know what i am doing and how to partially do things most of the time...feels decent. Ha! I'm still working out some things too. Like, best way to use my infantry and what they do on their own. How to mount infantry in a helicopter?? I was playing a mission where I am sent out to seize an airfield and have a QRF waiting with a Blackhawk and Chinook and a platoon of infantry but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to mount them. I had no prob mounting and dismounting mech infantry from Marders, M113s, Bradley's etc. Second infantry question, I saw another youtube video where someone had Panzergrenadiers scouting forward and their Marder was following slowly behind them covering them. Is there an order for the IFVs to do this? When I call for arty there is no indicator on my map where the call is. Is this something I need to turn on somewhere or a bug? I have seen in tutorials on youtube how when arty is called there is an indicator on the map but I am not seeing it in mine. Everyone's help and guidance has been truly appreciated! This is another game/sim I don't see myself ever tiring of.
  9. Omg I knew it was something ridiculously simple. And never mind on the other question too. Double click is the answer for that as well. Sheesh.
  10. Perfect! Thank you! Ok, what about jumping from platoon leader to platoon leader without being in the world and hitting alt-F8. From the map can I double click a unit or just click it and hit F8 to assume control of that unit? If it's a player controlled unit of course....
  11. Maybe I am just missing something totally simple... I'm at work so can't test it, but is unit jumping as simple as clicking the unit on the map and then hitting F8 to drop to it?
  12. I actually like the BMP-2. It has serious design flaws and a glass jaw but that autocannon can do some damage. I actually really like the armed to the teeth BMP-3M as well. It also has that horrid, ammo under carousel and crew, design flaw of the autoloader but it's firepower is impressive. Adding the 100mm gun coaxially (and especially with the programmable smart muntions) with the 30mm autocannon is devastating. I learned their plus and minuses very well through repeated use in CM. The Russian doctrine of integrating the vehicle directly into the squad work very well when you understand how to utilize it. I think it would be great fun to be able to crew a BMP-3. Speaking of IFVs and being a new guy, I have yet to fire any type of ATGM from either a Bradley or a BMP!! Note to self to look up how to do that....
  13. Haha! Are you aware of Combat Mission: Black Sea? Talk about uncanny predictions! Beside the addition of NATO troops (just US currently) of course... Combat Mission has an uncanny ability of predicting future conflicts. I fought two campaigns as the Russians, one as the Ukrainians and one as the US. Many of us on the board over there, have been calling the reality of the Russo-Ukraine war from the beginning and pointing out how much the media gets wrong as they don't understand the tactical and operational realities of warfare. Playing CMBS made a bunch of us feel as we had already fought this war and we were seeing the tactical realities in ways that others were not. That is, the exponential force multiplier of small "light infantry" units with shoulder fired ATGMS and drones could cause on a road bound enemy with huge logistical failings. Many of us knew right away that the Ukrainians were being underestimated as bad as the Russians were being overestimated. That all being said, NO ONE could have predicted how bad and how completely wrecked by corruption the RA really is.
  14. It's unfortunate it's a holiday weekend for most. I think I am about ready. I've been playing around with mostly a platoon of M1A2s with support and one mission with a company. I took the Sinai Valley Recon and Raid on the Rail Station, edited them to swap out to M1A2 tanks and have been just trying to get a feel and experiment around, jumping to vehicles, jumping to units, jumping to the map and back, haha! It's amazing. Speaking of the mission editor. Is there an easy way to make whatever unit you want the playable unit? I ask because using the mission editor I would have to delete the playable unit, add a new unit, but then it would jump to a different unit and it was sort of counter intuitive getting it to jump back to the unit I wanted to control. I haven't really found the answer in the manual or the wiki. Other than that it's making a lot more sense and things are clicking in my brain. Oh, another question. It seems sometimes when I "jump to unit" that it actually will separate that unit out from the platoon. How can I simply jump from platoon to platoon without having to go through the alt+shift procedure? Can that be done with some kind of click on the map? I am seeing the ground better, the dips to roll into and the rises to observe and go hull down from. I feel I am too slow and don't rely on the speed of the Abrams as I should. I feel gun-shy, like I creep too much trying spot the enemy. I do have to say one of my favorite moments so far was knowing an enemy T-72 was in a dip behind a little copse of trees that I saw on the map. I swung around behind him and came out of the treeline about 30m away! I made a rolling circle around him while my gunner whacked him up close and personal like. There is a palpable tension in the game as you crest a ridge and try to spot knowing the enemy could have eyes on you and there already could be a round incoming.
  15. Thanks! Chapters 6 and 8 have been EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I made a copy of the charts in chapter 8 just to have them handy at a glance. Good stuff.
  16. Thanks all for the welcomes. I am actually slow at work and am sitting here READING THE MANUAL. 🤣
  17. That all makes sense. However, I think I was good just reading from the original briefing. I opened and read it and then opened my edited mission. Anyway, just thought it was weird that it was originally in English but then in German after the edit.
  18. Man, I just have to say this is all just too amazing so far!
  19. Excellent! Super helpful and thank you! I will try the Shift+P method instead of holding my finger on P while trying to hit other keys! Totally makes sense about manual and auto now depending on what one is doing, got it! So if the gunner yells identified to I have to hit space to tell him to fire or does he do it automatically?
  20. No, Platoon Recon is set up with Leopards. The videos posted at the top of the thread suggested using the editor to open it and change them to M1A2s, etc. So that's what I did. Are you maybe thinking of a different starting mission? Should I practice with a different starting mission? Still doesn't change the fact that the briefing switched to German when I opened it, changed some units, etc. and saved it.
  21. I didn't. I don't understand it either. If I open the normal mission it's in English but somehow me editing it like on the video to change it to M1s has somehow made the briefing in German?? Weird.
  22. The evidence... I think my favorite thing so far is seeing the BMP-2 turrets popping sky high.
