  1. Yes, at some you remapped your key for TIS alt. view, which is default to SHIFT+NUM* (I just confirmed it). Or, possibly, you may have saved a key profile and carried it over to the new version. You can press the "Defaults" button and watch the keys change back, then press Cancel if you don't want to make those changes. We feel that we don't need a TIS key for the JIM-LR, so it shares that TIS alt. view button (with a lot of other things too, like the Centauro TIS view).
  2. Right, if you show up a little before the game time (2100 CST), then someone should be around to test your connection to a host. The scenario and map are sent to you automatically when joining the session, and are usually pretty quick.
  3. Seems like, for European players, the time will be 1 hour sooner one last time here. 29 MAR 2024: !OBJ PV - MP-smaller_4268 SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Draft? Yes Random CO selection? Yes Minimum # players: 8
  4. Oh, sorry about that, ignore my previous reply - I was thinking of toggling reticle between HEAT and APDS (R key). OK, in your image - the APDS range is on the right, the HEP range is on the left. APDS is a flatter trajectory, so it will be much compressed.
  5. OK thanks for those times... @2:05: That is NOT a perfect shot. That is right into the front fuel tanks which provide some serious protection against a round like the BM-29. There are essentially two large fuel tanks to the left and right of the driver in the hull front, imagine them shaped like an "L on either side. The shot goes right into the lower part of that (backwards) "L" shaped fuel tank. See the SBwiki's page about the T-72M that has an image showing the fuel tank area protection. https://www.steelbeasts.com/sbwiki/index.php?title=T-72M I should take a moment to elaborate that when this happens you likely get a fuel leak on the target, but the tank will not explode from such an impact (it's diesel fuel, and the tanks are put in front for a reason -- the M1 tanks do this as well with the axillary tanks). However if we are talking about ammo much better than the BM-29, such as the M829A3, then the round would plow through the fuel tank and continue onwards destroying whatever is behind it - but again, we are talking about the BM-29 that is already going to be producing marginal penetrations against this type of target. Now of course in reality the level of fuel the tank has would directly affect the level of protection provided, but SB doesn't model that (yet?). This is also one reason why (in real life) tank crews should want any frontal fuel tanks as full of fuel as possible, and why the M1 crews are trained to use the auxiliary frontal tanks LAST. But in SB, currently, the fuel tank provides a static level of protection regardless of the tank's fuel level -- a necessary abstraction at the moment. @1:28: Again, this enters the front fuel tank area, like above, only at an even worse angle. @3:35: That shot impacts with the suspension area, below anything vital other than suspension - so "light damage" makes sense, and likely was suspension damage. @4:17: Again, the BM-29 (which already isn't that powerful) is right into the front fuel tank. @4:31: Again, lower part of the L of the left side fuel tank, and at a significant angle. @4:59: Now that is a tricky situation there - the ERA does reduce the penetration of the round (not by much for K1 ERA, though), but the impact is right exactly on the angle where the hull meets into a point. Most importantly though, if you trace the shot's hit ray further -- it does, again, enter the fuel tank area under armor. So in that situation it looks like a impact, but because of all the angles, it isn't. If it was dead on 90 degrees then it may have been a kill. @5:18: Again, front fuel tank impact. A good hit in the sense that you hit the target, yes, but not a good impact location with that particular round (again it is all relative to the round being used). @5:34: Hard to really tell anything from that image, but through the track, then the compensating idler wheel, then along the side of the hull, and possibly too low to hit anything vital, and most likely also clipping the side of the front fuel tank too. So many possibilities of what it could be there. So, no, nothing in any of those events looks wrong given the round used, the target, and impact area. I would suggest aiming center-mass on the T-72 front hull, into the driver area, and then you will get the reliable results that you are expecting. Otherwise, impacts around center mass, at a variable angle and range, and with that type of round should produce exactly these results.
  6. Ah OK, I missed that link somehow (for some reason I thought it was a link to a scenario file). 😑 Nice AAR slideshow! Do you have a specific set of times for the AAR screenshots you are thinking of? I was looking through it but didn't notice anything particularly odd...
  7. Also another factor is that it depends on which side too. On the T-72's right side there is a sponson fuel tank that runs most of the length of the tank's hull and increases the thickness quite a bit over normal; it is essentially center mass on target. Then if (any) tank is at even a moderate oblique angle, then you are talking about the hull providing more protection. If you aren't hitting a tank at 90 degrees from the side hull, then it will have significantly more protection than what you would expect. Then if the shot is too low, you are essentially hitting the suspension area, below the stored ammunition, which happens a lot. Difficult to say without seeing the AAR or screen shots. But I would say that the tank has been fired at for over a decade now, very difficult to imagine that something is broken there, so all we can really do is try to explain what might cause results you typically may not expect.
  8. Actually, I just noticed that the scenario I mentioned before (MBT-Dark Passage) has been accidentally saved in a newer version of SB. So, let's try the one we didn't play last week (which does happen to have M60s). 🤪
  9. In a situation of T-72M vs. T-72M, both equipped with BM-29 (460mm), it is expected that you will have cases where one impact will be a kill, while another can be no effect. The reason is: the ammunition is right at the threshold where a slightly different angle of impact and range on this particular target can easily make the difference between a penetration or not, and in cases of a penetration -- a marginal one, versus a significant one. The amount of post penetration "power" remaining influences the damage effect probability, so you could end up with a penetration not triggering anything, if marginal, unless it directly hits an inner component. Not to mention, it doesn't take much distance to significantly drop the penetration power of the BM-29 to the point that it may not penetrate at all, depending on the all the angles involved (especially with the turret, or hull. Then factor in the issue that you have fuel tanks in 1/3 of the front hull area, and all along the right side of the tank above the track, which can easily prevent penetration with enough range and angle, and it is by no means any sort of guarantee. Just using a round with around +40-60mm of penetration (~500mm) would likely make a huge difference in this situation. To illustrate, or to give a more detailed bit of information to help, the BM-29 drops in penetration power over range like this... BM-29: @ 0m --> ~460mm @ 1000m --> ~445mm @ 2000m --> ~430mm @ 3000m --> ~415mm So somewhere around ~ 1000m you are already talking about only having only around ~ 40 to 50mm of "power" remaining after penetration, once you start factoring in even the most basic angles on the turret frontal area, for example. When something like that might hit the ammo area, you are talking about like a 5% chance of explosion at that point, or about a 40-50% chance of fire (like a coin toss). And then at ranges beyond that, it is even less likely, or perhaps does not penetrate at all. Hopefully that helps.
  10. Seems like, for European players, the time will be 1 hour sooner until the 5 APR TGIF. 22 MAR 2024: Brush Fire-Town Dispute-UN-4379a-MAD (the map has significant improvements) SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS: Draft? 11. Oh, BTW, the time has changed for US, so things will be out of sync until after this weekend.
  12. Who will play in the M60s in this scenario then??? 😢😉 We might actually play something smaller anyway, let's see...
