  1. Well, I never said they were in front line service, did I? Doesn't France have a reserve force? I find that hard to believe if they don't because that means the whole of the French Army has only ~400 tanks under its command if they only have Leclercs at its disposal. Then again, maybe I am "behind the times".
  2. Well, I imagine that it all has to do with the range to the target. If the range is beyond 1500-1800 meters then I bet the TOW will fire at these targets (it would make a good test). Under this range, it is trying to engage the target with the cal .50 to save TOW missiles. I am not sure if anything can or should be done about this at the moment. The best way to avoid AI engagement routines like this is to take away their HMG ammo in the scenario editor. Other than that, you are at the mercy of their artificial "intelligence" for now. The question is, in real life, do these portable type TOW missile launchers (M113A3 TOW, M966 HMMWV, TOW ATGM team etc) have a thermal sight? AFAIK, the answer is no, they do not. On the bradley has an ISU mounted in it that can be used to fire TOW missiles. What these protable TOW missile sights have is day and night sight. The night sight of course is a light amplification sight and is, certainly, not a thermal sight equivalent. In other words, nothing needs to fixed here AFAICT.
  3. Everyone calm down. The peanut gallery type comments don't help.
  4. Not to get into a lengthy explanation: I assume you are talking about the hull front. The Leopard 2 has a uniform thickness in hull front because it simply has the same thickness across the hull front. Simple as that. Behind the front hull armor in the Leo2are several inner spaced armor plates. Then, behind that is the inner hull. The M1 and T-72 do not follow this approach, they have the driver in the center behind the glacis and two fuel tanks to either side of them. Naturally then the armor is thinner where the fuel tanks are not. Actually the *armor protection* for the new models are not different per se. The armor levels are essentially the same. What has changed is that on the old models the kill damage was on the outside layer of the model because of the simplified model that was being used. Just think of the old way of it like an outer shape of the tank with some inner boxes on the inside. On the new models there are now inside walls under the outer inert layer so simply striking the outside will never generate a kill. The round *must penetrate* into the inner wall where it is then checked for crew kills. This alone inherently makes it (realistically) more protected than the old models since you you have to score "good hits".
  5. I am not seeing this. I see both the M966 HMMWV and M113A3 TOW firing ATGMs in a standard test consisting of putting these units on the map with blind T-72s in the distance. Are the vehicles in question not on level ground? Anything equipped with a TOW missile *must* be on level ground before it can fire or the guidance will not function properly (so the unit will not fire it).
  6. He was being sarcastic if I am not mistaken. I don't think so. That is precisely the point. And when you think Blue doesn't know what it is doing because we start losing then, what? You switch back again? If you think Red doesn't know what it is doing then perhaps you should CO. Besides, Red seemed to know perfectly well what they were doing in the first four weeks of the campaign until the recent reversal -- but there wasn't a problem with their ability during that time, right? Yes, that is the lesser of two evils. Yes, you should "finish it" on the team you started on. Let me go ahead and cut to the chase: I certainly do not condone what was done in the last match (the fratricide) and that needs to stop. On the other hand, the situation has become too disruptive with your flip flopping of sides in the middle of the campaign just because the chips are down, so here is the easiest way to solve this problem: Change back to Red in the next mission or you *will* be kicked from the Assembly Area. Period. Besides the fact that it is stated in the basic rules of the campaign that you have to play on the same side for the duration, I can't have you on Blue if it is going to be completely disruptive. I have enough stuff to worry about in the mission itself. This is getting outrageous to be honest. It makes no sense whatsover for you to swap to the side that might be doing better at the moment, and then have the people that you do not get along with forced to switch to the other side to accomodate you. Slandering? Get a grip on yourself. You changed sides in the middle of the campaign because the side you was on happened to have a change in fortune. Is that gutless, spineless, and dishonerable? Well, this is just game so there is no way of really knowing a person's whole character, but some people would say yes. At the very least it is not something that a team player would do and apparently some people do not like that quality (or lack there of). You simply need to restore respect with the community plain and simple. The only way to do this is to eliminate the idea that you can switch sides whenever you want so that you guarantee that you will always bask in the glow of victory. You brought this on to yourself when you thought that swapping sides would be greated with delight by everyone participating the campaign. You are mistaken if the Op Variable thread will be locked because of something you disagree with. I will expect that no one will resort to personal attacks in this thread.
  7. Some helpful advice: I think you need to stick with Red for the duration of the campaign. I doubt the experience will get much better for you; it is frowned upon when people switch sides just because it might be going badly at that given moment, so what do you expect to happen? Just remember that you earn more respect when you fight it out to the last rather than giving up and jumping ship. Someone else that used to play would do the same thing and he caught all kinds of FLAK for it as well... I don't recall anyone wanting to join Blue in the first three or four weeks when we are getting our anus kicked. Someone that swaps sides carries no confidence that they would not do so again if things went badly for Blue. People just don't want someone like that on their team and you can't really blame them.
  8. You have been drinking too much. We won't be playing the campaign this TGIF (there will be another scenario instead).
  9. LOL. You two... so much love. :smilelove-1:
  10. Its not that they are incompletely painted, it is that the driver has destroyed the fender or some other part on the tank and they ordered a new one. You never get a spare part that is tan, they are always green (unless it is a tarp or something). This results in green replacement parts all over the tan tank, and we would always joke how shitty a driver was by the number of green parts that were on it.
  11. I could be wrong but I think France has more AMX-30B2s in service than they have Leclercs (or at least the number is very close).
  12. Well, it is hard to say. There could be all kinds of factors in play. For one thing, you have to be in high magnification (10x) in order to fire the TOW. If you aren't in high mag then it will not fire. Besides that, shooting from houses should have nothing to do with the TOW missile on the Bradley. Just to make sure you are on level ground, you should jump out to the external view to make sure the launcher is fully raised.
  13. Well, apparently we have agreed to a short cease fire this TGIF (15 MAY) while the Blue CO is away. I know everyone on Blue was just dying to take over as CO this week, Roguesnake will probabaly be very disappointed he will not be able to do it.
  14. That one should already be tri color tan if I am not mistaken. But yeah, we need it for the rest of them. See what you did Hackworth?
  15. No, there is no way to do this for vehicles on the same side. However, you can of course make the textures different on Blue and Red side.
  16. It is something that will be fixed in the next update, along with several other things as well. As far as when the update will be, we just don't know yet for certain, but it will not be too far off. We are aware of the hassle that this and other bugs are causing people and are doing our best to fix it ASAP.
  17. No, not really, there are instances where you want other people to join your vehicle but you do not want the other 15 people in the scenario to jump in and out of the vehicle when they lose their assigned vehicle. Not to mention, simply disallowing others to join your vehicle to avoid people jumping in it because of lack of an external view can cause other problems. Trust me, you don't have to explain the pros and cons of the external view in network session we are fully aware of it.
  18. BTW, the brown tri color T-72M1 goes very nice in the autumn folder with the new brown tri color BMD-2.
  19. It cannot be removed (external view) because of the OC observer position. Maybe one day the OC can ignore this. On the other hand, if the external position is turned off, then when people jump to your vehicle in multiplayer they will be put inside of it if you allowed people in. This was a huge pain in the past... people jumping in and out of your vehicle at the worst time.
  20. Well, that is the good thing about SB. Maybe one day we can put the Leclerc up against other tanks. No need for a real tank on tank battle to see how the tank performs when SB will simulate everything with a pretty high degree of accuracy.
  21. Wowza, me like all the new decals to choose from. So many options now.
  22. Try unhooking your devices one at a time when you see it happening. Start with your camera. If it does not stop the spinning then unhook your mouse (most likely this is the problem). Then go to your keyboard and so on. There may be something wrong with your mouse (I had a similar problem many years ago and I had to replace the mouse). Still, only you can narrow it down to which device is causing the faulty inputs. Also, you said you have an IR mouse, have you tried to replace the batteries in it lately?
  23. Good catch. We will look into what is causing that on the MFD.
  24. Who said "combat" had to be fair? I guess there hasn't been real combat since World War One and World War Two then. No combat patches were given for operations in the Balkans as far as I know.
  25. Whats left beside the YPRs? FISTV and M901 ITV are two other oldies.
