The Top Tank Platoon 2011 tournament began on 6 APR 2012. The tournament ended on 24 JUN 2012.

Tournament Rules

This is an iteration of the Top Tank Platoon, and as such it utilizes the standard the standard Top Tank Platoon tournament rules.

Map Selection

Map selection for all matches are RANDOMLY GENERATED height and terrain maps. Each map is generated just before it is posted/announced. The theme may vary, but will mostly be summer woodland.

Tank Selection / KE Ammunition Type

M1: PPTFS M/85 LS (500 RHA)
Leopard 1A5-DK: PPTFS DM 63C LS (600 RHA)
Leopard 2A4: DM13A1 (420 RHA)
Challenger 2: L23A1 (360 RHA), w/ HESH & WP standard load
T-72M1: M711 (640 RHA)
  • Tank selection in this iteration is based on a "classic" early 1980s theme, based on the tanks currently available in Steel Beasts (the Challenger 2 w/ L23A1 is simulating a 1983 Challenger 1, the better armor is offset by its L23A1 ammo). T-72 is given the best ammo selection to better encourage that it will be chosen, due to obvious reasons (no thermal sight, slow reload time, slow reverse speed, etc).
  • Since a large number of early 1980s tanks are not available to choose from, for balance the ammunition selection is chosen based on the tank's armor level and overall capability. The more armor/protection a tank has (on a scale), generally the less capable its round type is. Also, all tanks will have, if capable, a smoke loadout of 2 ready | 2 stowed smoke grenade salvos for each grenade launcher.

Champion / Winner Determination

In this particular iteration (2011), a DOUBLE elimination format is used. That is, once one team suffers TWO losses, it is eliminated from the tournament. Once there are only two teams remaining, those two teams will be paired in the final best of FIVE game championship match.

Tournament Tree

TTP 2011 Tree.jpg

The format for displaying Mission Score and User Score in the tournament tree is:

name (W-L), S

where:

name = platoon's name
W = number of wins
L = number of losses
S = score from the game in that round (not an average score)

The letter codes which appear in the tournament tree are (in place of, or in addition to S):

F = Forfeit loss
B = Bye
n/a = Score not available, match has not been played yet
