The MT-LBu Medic is an ambulance modification to the MT-LBu. The modification involves no exterior changes, but offers room for four stretchers and a three man medical treatment team. Although not in service with the Russian military, who prefer their UAZ-452 vans, this vehicle can be found operating with the Swedish military (Sjvpbv 4024) along with the forces of several Eastern European and Middle-Eastern counties.
Unarmed, the MT-LBu Medic has the same capabilities and strictures as the M113 Medic vehicle.
As of revision 4.156 ambulance vehicles carry dismountable Medic Teams capable of reviving any “save-able” dismounted infantry casualties (i.e. dead troops) located within a small radius (25m) of their location. Medic teams only effect dismounted elements, and not vehicle crews.
The medic team for the MT-LBu Medic is 3 medics armed with 5.45mm rifles for self-defense.
A note to gunners: The MT-LBu Medic's thermal signature is identical to that of a standard MT-LBu/ACRV. Care should be taken to positively identify all potential targets with day optics before engaging!
