Starting Situation / Background
RED:
In the 1980s, the Democratic Republic of Bekibekibekistan communist government was formed. The government sought to bring modernization to the nation, but its rural farmers openly resisted change. Soon, the rural peasantry rose up in a violent rebellion and the republic asked its ally, the Soviet Union, for assistance.
The Soviet Union sent a large and powerful contingent of conventional forces to the area, intent on crushing the primitive uprising, where it was expected that the insurgents would be no match for the firepower of the Soviet Army.
ORANGE:
For centuries the villagers in Bekibekibekistan region lived in peace. However in the 1980s, the communist regime of the Democratic Republic of Bekibekibekistan rose to power, and begin oppressing the citizens to conform with communist ideology of "modernization". The rural peasantry were traditional, and resistant to oppressive ideological change. Soon the government began a heavy handed suppression of the peasantry, rounding up any who opposed to be shot. Within a few years the citizens began open opposition to the government, causing the government to request help from the Soviets.
Soviet forces were dispatched to the region to crush and suppress the uprising, but the citizens intended to outlast the Soviet Army and bleed them dry, which would force them to withdraw.
