General

The Vehículo de Combate Transporte de Personal (Personnel Transport Combat Vehicle) is an infantry fighting vehicle in service with the Argentine Army which uses the same hull as the TAM. The original TAM project included the production of a complementary IFV and the first prototype was completed in 1977, with a total production of 213 vehicles (including the VCPC variant).

Basic armament consists of a turret mounted stabilized 20mm Rheinmetall Rh-202 automatic cannon and a 7.62mm FN MAG 60-20 (M240G) machine-gun mounted on the turret roof. Fire-control is the same PERI-Z-11 A-1 periscope found on Spähpanzer Luchs and Marder. As with the Marder, early versions of the VCTP carried a remotely controlled 7.62-mm MG located in a mounting over the hull rear, but this is not modeled in Steel Beasts Professional. Vision devices and firing ports are located around the troop compartment, allowing the carried troops to fire from within the vehicle and troops enter and leave the vehicle via a rear mounted power ramp or two roof hatches.

As the VCTP shares the same hull and powerpack as the TAM, automotive performance and armour protection are identical.

The VCTP normally transports a dismount section of 8 men, equipped with RPG-27 light anti-armour weapons, an MG3, and 5.45mm rifles.

Despite several attempts to export the TAM family to other nations, Argentina remains the sole operator.
