Description

In 2023, a new idea was created: a middle ground between a full blown campaign and one-off TGIF missions. This idea is to play one TGIF mission, where both sides are "purchased" through points. Then losses take effect, points are earned from the result of the scenario, and reinforcements are purchased. This continues for a number of scenarios (usually 3) until the final battle, where the winning side is determined. All scenarios are fought on one continuous map, broken up into around 120 minute long battles.

Terms and Concepts

Strength Points

Strength Points are generic points used to purchase units using the Unit Cost Calculator. Points are gained from playing missions and then are "spent" to "purchase" additional forces.

Victory Determination

Unlike other campaigns, the winner in Linked TGIF Missions is the side that gained the most points in the final scenario. The score of the scenarios that came before it do not matter when determining the overall winner, instead those other scenarios help determine the composition of forces in the final battle. Essentially the last scenario is the final battle, and the previous scenarios are setting the stage. Note that the final objectives will be determined in that last battle, but generally the designer will communicate to the attacking side at least one scenario in advance where those final objectives will be roughly located (these will be located

Reinforcements and Attachments

After a scenario is played, the attacking side gains a set number of points, and the defending side gains 60% of that amount. Then that side's score is multiplied by 3x to determine the bonus points. From this total, 3x the number of troops lost in the previous mission is subtracted from the total to get the amount of points used for purchasing Reinforcements.

The side that had a higher score in the previous mission then gains a set number of points to use for purchasing attachments, while the other side receives 50% of that amount for Attachments.

Reinforcements are units that are purchased to permanently augment your starting force. When these forces are purchased, they will be placed in the rear area in the next battle, in a small limited deployment area, if any at all (except is Recon Units). Attachments are units that are purchased to temporarily support your force for one scenario. When these forces are purchased, they will be available for use immediately on the front lines, being that they are not technically reinforcements but are instead attached forces from neighboring front line units.

Unit Purchase Rules and Limitations

There are few rules to Linked TGIF Missions, mainly dealing with unit purchases.

Point Pools and Lost Points

The points used for purchasing Attachments is kept mutually separate from the Reinforcements total, and they are spent separately as if they are two different pools of points. Also, any points not spent are permanently lost (you cannot save points!).

Recon Units

Any unit that is considered to be a recon unit (these are light units that are in the recon unit menu in SB) are deployable in the neutral area between both side's front lines (in addition to being able to deploy in their own side's forward area). Additionally, whether purchased as a Reinforcement or Attachment will be present on the front line immediately and will not have to be brought up from the rear in the next scenario.

APS

Active Protection Systems (APS) can be purchased, but can only be added to vehicles that are purchased at the same time; you cannot purchase APS for existing forces that are already present on the battlefield (the scenarios are happening over a period of a day or two, not over a long period of time). Therefore, if you purchased and APS in the 2nd mission, then it can only be assigned to reinforcements that are arriving in that 2nd mission.

Airstrikes

Airstrikes may be purchased with either Reinforcement or Attachment points, and are only present in that following battle, whether you use them or not!

Fortifications

Fortifications (all types) remain in place for each following mission after they are deployed. In other words, once they are placed, they are permanent.

Obstacles (wire and mines)

Deployed obstacles may be removed after each mission.

  • Decoy Minefields: Removed after each mission if in enemy held territory.
  • Non-Buried, Non-Decoy Minefields: Removed after each mission if in enemy held territory.
  • Buried, Non-Decoy Minefields: Removed by enemy only if the enemy side properly breached and marked it (can be marked manually with panels, one on each side of the lane at both ends).
  • Purchased Wire: Removed after each mission if in enemy held territory.
  • Deployed Wire (from vehicles): Removed after each mission.

IEDs

Fixed IEDs can be purchased and deployed, but they are removed after each mission whether they were used or not.
