The Top Tank Platoon 2010 tournament start date is 5 NOV 2010. The tournament ended on 18 DEC 2010.

Tournament Rules

This is an iteration of the Top Tank Platoon, and as such it utilizes the standard the standard Top Tank Platoon tournament rules.

Map Selection

Map selection for the regular, non-championship matches are all RANDOMLY GENERATED height and terrain maps. Each map is generated just before it is posted/announced. The theme may vary, but will mostly be summer woodland.

  • Occasionally the terrain map might be the same as a previous round, but the height map will always be different. The reason for this is because the process involved in generating a random terrain map is not trivial, random height map generation is much less time consuming.

Map selection for championship round matches are all on existing non-randomly generated maps. This is done to add more complexity from the possible presence of roads, buildings and water obstacles.

Tank Selection / KE Ammunition Type

M1: CMC105
M1A1(HA): M829A2
Leopard AS1: PPTFS DM 63C LS (w/ HESH)
Leopard 1A5 DK: PPTFS DM 63C LS (w/ HESH)
Leopard 2A4: M829A2
Leopard 2A5 DK: KE-WA2
Leopardo 2E: DM33(L55)
Strv 122: Slpprj m/95
  • Ammunition selection is kept as close to ~750mm RHAe as possible without actually giving the same exact round type to every tank. Also, all tanks will have, if capable, a multispectral/GALIX smoke loadout of 2 ready | 2 stowed smoke grenade salvos for each grenade launcher (in the case of the Strv 122, which has more than one smoke grenade launcher).
  • Obviously some tanks in the list above are more capable than others, but part of fun in selecting lesser capable tanks is "bragging rights" by having demonstrated superior tactics and skill when you defeat a more capable tank with a less capable one. However, the tank selection is intentionally balanced with the ammo selection, so teams need to pay careful attention to what they choose and what their opponents may have.

Champion / Winner Determination

In this particular iteration (2010), a TRIPLE elimination format is used. That is, once one team suffers THREE losses, it is eliminated from the tournament. Once there are only two teams remaining, those two teams will be paired in the final best of three game championship match.

Tournament Tree

TTP 2010 Tree.jpg

The format for displaying Mission Score and User Score in the tournament tree is:

name (W-L), S

where:

name = platoon's name
W = number of wins
L = number of losses
S = score from the game in that round (not an average score)

The letter codes which appear in the tournament tree are (in place of, or in addition to S):

F = Forfeit loss
B = Bye
n/a = Score not available, match has not been played yet
