General

Manufactured by FFG, the Wisent 1 AEV is a medium, fully tracked, armored vehicle, that performs earth-moving, engineering (welding and cutting), obstacle breaching, and obstacle construction operations on the battlefield. A further refinement of the modular concept begun with the Wisent ARV, the Wisent 1 AEV features a civil inspired excavator arm in place of the crane equipped with a 1.3 cubic meter bucket (currently nonfunctional). Fitted with lifting eyes the arm may perform crane duties up to 4.5 tons. As modeled the front mounted dozer blade may be replaced by either a standard mineplow or a full-width mineplow and lane marking system (effectively simulating the dedicated Wisent Mineclearing variant). Additionally, the vehicle may be equipped with the Lemur remote weapon station. As modeled, the Wisent AEV is fitted with a variation of the SAAB Barracuda Mobile Camouflage System, which reduces the vehicle's thermal signature.

The Wisent AEV is crew-able at the Commander's (F7), Gunner/Engineer (F6), and Driver's (F9) positions, but only partially modeled with rudimentary interior views.

Beginning with Steel Beasts Professional version 4.000, engineering vehicles such as the Wisent AEV may carry barrier materials (concertina wire rolls) for the construction of wire obstacles and, as of version 4.156, may construct one and two tier vehicle emplacements during runtime. Refer to the Obstacles And Fortifications page for information regarding the placement and construction of such obstacles and emplacements.

Currently the Wisent 1 AEV is in service with Denmark.
