  1. Kanium Sunday 15th of October - Operation Woodlark by Apocalypse Where: Kanium TS : ts3.din-server.dk:10000 World Clock 1800 GMT (Same time as always in Europe - now adjusted for Summer Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1800 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube channel. AS always, then we are running the session with the latest version of Steelbeasts. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance 😁 Operation Woodlark By Apocalypse I. Situation a. Terrain: 1. Heavy snow covers the landscape of rolling hills and valleys - road conditions are poor, some are covered with snow, and we expect a light dusting of snow to continue into all hours of the day. 2. Major obstacles in this area include a large river that runs from north to south, splitting the BDE AO into two. We have 2x crossing sites, one to our south (land bridge) and a MLC-120t bridge to the southwest. 3. Avenues of approach include 3 major highways in the AO; HWY 5 to our West (main BDE avenue of approach), highway 90 in our AO that runs north to south, and highway 10 in the southern portion of our AO that runs east to west. 4. The landscape is dotted with small farming village, most structures are constructed from wood and lightely reinforced. OBJ TAN is one of the few major urban areas, with buildings that crest over 3-stories. Civilian population is not expected to be in the area- most have fled due to the heavy fighting in the last several months. b. Enemy: An enemy mechanized Battalion is defending the area- they are composed of 2x mechanized infantry companies (BMP-2), 2x tank companies (T-72M4), and one light recon company (4x4 trucks), and are supported by at least one battery of self-propelled artillery, and mortar platoon. They do not have significant engineer support in this sector, and we do not expect any air sorties. We believe the enemy is employing their reconnaissance company between Phase Line BRONZE and SILVER - they are using scout teams, supported by light vehicles to establish a disruption zones around a small protective minefield north of OBJ BLACK. They will employ indirect fires at choke points, and may call forward enemy armor from OBJ TAN if OBJ BLACK is threatened. We anticipate at least a company of mechanized infantry establishing their main battle zone between Phase Line SILVER and GOLD- mechanized platoons, supported by T-72 tanks will defend key terrain (high ground and choke points) using platoon-battle positions established in-depth and supported by armored counter-attacks. We also expect most intersections and hilltops to be pre-sighted with artillery and covered by forward observer teams. OBJ BLACK is being occupied by the Battalion Command post, and sits on key terrain that allows freedom of movement to the north and south, through the AO. We expect that OBJ TAN is defended by at least 2x platoons of mechanized infantry supported by tanks that are being held in hide sites to the south and west of the town. Being the location of the BN Command post, we also expect to see a significant number of support vehicles, and potentially their artillery positioned nearby. c. Friendly: Our Battalion, as part of 1st Brigade, 3 UK DIV, is tasked with cracking the flank of the enemy forces - the goal is to destroy the enemy on OBJ TAN to clear a path for 2 BDE, approaching from the north Our Battalion consists of 2x Companies (1 detached) C Squadron: Armored Recon Company supported by 2x platoons of Recon Engineers A Squadron: Tanks, supported by 2x MECH platoons from B Squadron. II. Mission Our Task Force attacks to seize OBJ TAN, to pass 2nd Brigade, so that we may continue offensive operations to the south. III. Execution a. Commanders Intent Purpose: Pass 2nd BDE along HWY 5 to continue offensive operations to the south. Key Tasks 1. Reduce mine obstacle and seize OBJ BLACK to safely pass A Squadron 2. Seize OBJ TAN - to safely pass elements of 1 BDE to the south End State 1. OBJ TAN is seized 2. Enemy forces defeated or destroyed; unable to hinder elements of 1 BDE as they pass along HWY 5 3. Friendly forces postured to pass 1 BDE at H+4 HR 4. Minimal collatoral damage or disruption to civilian way of life b. Concept 1. At H-Hour C Squadron, reinforced with Engineers, will conduct a recon-in-force to clear enemy forces from OBJ BLACK. 2. A Squadron (armor) will arrive once OBJ BLACK has been cleared- they will continue their advance south along HWY 90 and/or HWY 10 to destroy enemy elements in OBJ TAN. 3. At H+4hr, B and D Squadrons will being their attack from the north- first clearing the river-crossing site (MECH INF CO) then continuing along HWY 5 through OBJ TAN and onwards to the south. c. Fires 1. 3x 81mm tubes, in support of C Squadron 2. 3x6 SP Guns in support of A Squadron 3. 1x Company FO (C and A Squadron) IV. Service & Support Both Squadrons have organic medical, resupply, and repair assets V. Mission 1: Operation Talon Strike This is what I see as the first user-created operation, since the Operation system was introduced several years ago. Background This operation will take the player through several Platoon-sized missions using a variety of vehicles and equipment, and set in a fictional European conflict. Each mission is limited to four playable vehicles, with adjacent BLUEFOR units scripted to move with the player-controlled units. Performance Matters: Major Victories will result in benefits for the player and may unlock future missions. Defeats will still progress the operation, but may put the player in a tougher spot for future missions. Defeat = advantage REDFOR. Installation Drop the Talon Strike folder and .opc file in the following directory: Documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\My Operations This went through three Beta's before being published. Let me know if you find any bugs and I will do my best to fix immediately. Special Thanks: Mirzayev for beta testing and providing valuable feedback Thanks for Playing! ==========OPERATIONAL SITUATION========== Radonia - a nation facing a violent, internal conflict. a. General Situation Radonia sits on the Eastern-most edge of the region. Previously part of the larger Dradvic Republic, it has been an independent nation since the end of the Second World War. Years before separation, the Dradvic Republic used Radonia as a buffer between itself and bordering NATO-aligned countries. However, since its post-war separation, Radonia has faced internal challenges with hot-blooded rival political parties and a radically fluctuating and unstable economy. All the while, the Dradvic Republic has maintain significant influence along its northern border, and many northern Radonian families still maintain ties in the Dradvic Republic. In more recent history, political rivalries reached a flash point; two years previous, the youth of Radonia called for national reform in economic and trade policies, but many conservative groups quickly rejected the change and sparks ignited across the country. Those sparks quickly turned to flames, and in that time Radonia saw a rapid rise of violence and armed rebellion groups. As conditions deteriorated across Radonia, political leaders in the northern regional capital of Malinska denounced their union with Radonia and declared separation into an independent state. The regional capital, Malinska, sits near the northern border between Radonia and The Dradvic Republic. People of the region have historically favored the Dradvic Republic, in culture, lineage, and political views. In the recent chaos of Radonia, the most notable armed rebellion group has been the Radonian People’s Militia, who seemed to have organized, armed, and deployed forces faster than any other armed rebel group. b. Enemy The Radonian Peoples Militia (RPM) is manned, equipped, and trained as well as any Radonian military unit. Radonia previously enforced a conscription program which has allowed for most adults to gain a basic understanding of tactics and discipline, but the RPM is also supplemented with combat advisors and cadre from the Dradvic Republic. Deterioration in Radonian security forces also allowed the RPM to raid military depots and arsenals in the north to equip their own forces. The Radonian Peoples Militia - Malinska Brigade (RPM-MB) is center of gravity for the RPM. It’s leader is a recorded member of the Dradvic Republic Special Purpose Forces, and is capable of receiving funding, equipment, and additional manpower directly from the Dradvic Republic. The RPM-MD is organized into 5x Battalions: 3x Mechanized Infantry Battalions [MIBN] (2x BMP-1 / 1x MTLB) 1x Tank Battalion (T-55) 1x Field Artillery Battalion (2S1 / SA-19) 1x HQ & Support Company A majority of the Brigade's combat power is positioned in the city Malinska, where they can maintain the most influence. Battalions are also positioned along Highway 10; 1 MIBN defends the eastern flank near Latria and Kovuto Island, and 2 MIBN defends the west flank near Tashoor. Their Field Artillery battalion has batteries split, in support of MIBNs along Highway 10, but we suspect that they have positioned their SA19 systems to the east of Malinska, as it is a more suitable air avenue of approach for our aircraft. The Malinska Brigade command post is currently established inside of Malinska and is a hotbed of activity for military coordination as well as political support from foreign visitors. From this command post, the Malinska Brigade leadership can coordinate operational activities across their front, as well as logistics efforts to the north, along Highway 1. c. Friendly The Radonian ground forces are well-equipped, trained and led. However, their entire Ground Forces Command only consists of two Home Defense Brigades and one Infantry Brigade. The Radonian Home Defense Brigade in Malinska disintegrated last year, with most of its members joining the ranks of the Malinska Brigade. The remaining members still maintain their positions south of Malinska, but in limited numbers, and are most likely not capable of preventing the Malinska Brigade from attacking south of the city. The 1st Radonian "FALCON" Brigade (YOU) has deployed to the area and is prepared to conduct combat operations against the Radonian Peoples Militia. The Falcon Brigade consists of Task Force HAMMER (Leopard 2A4) Task Force ANVIL (Pizzaro) Task Force SNAKE (LAV-25) Task Force HAWK (Special Operations Recon) Task Force THUNDER (2S3) The mission of FALCON Brigade is to defeat the Radonian Peoples Militia (Malinska Brigade) operating in/around Malinska to restore the security posture in the region and improve Radonia's national security posture against international threats. Our Brigade will do this by swiftly attacking into the flanks of the Malinska Brigade to secure key terrain and influence support-zone activities, and to isolate the defenders of Malinska. Once conditions are set, we will launch an aggressive armor attack into the city-center to destroy remaining RPM-MB threats and restore the security posture of the area.
  3. KANIUM SUNDAY 24th OF MAR 1900 GMT - OPERATION ICEPICK by Nike-Ajax Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 World Clock 1900 GMT (Same time as always - should be adjusted for Winter Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1900 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube channel. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance Operation Icepick 24th of March 2020 SB Mission by Nike-Ajax I. Situation Time 0630 Local Time - dawn is just breaking Weather Clear Skies with no chance of rain, 10 degrees Centigrade and LOS 3500 Km General. In light of an direct attack on one of our allies in NATO, Article 5 of the NATO Charter has been evoked. And following that then NATO is now formally at war. As the spearhead in this Area of Operations, than a Spanish Battlegroup has been assembled and deployed in theater. Our Taskforce - Taskforce Tigre - is part of this Battlegroup, and have been assembled to clear the Enemy to our North. We are on our allied Nation´s soil, but all their citizens have either been evacuated, killed in battle with the invaders or have been killed by the invaders since. The word from our Allied in light of this is, to quote: "Show no restraint and use maximum effort" We have local air superiority, but are limited to strike planes. Enemy Forces. The Enemy Land Forces have roughly a 2 Companies of combat power defending the area, with at least one full tank company (Leopard 2A4) and one company of mechanized infantry (BMP-2´s). These are augmented with dismounted ENY infantry, that are expected to have access to MILANs and M72A4´s and possibly BGM-71 TOWs. As the ENY have had a limited time to prepare, then we do not expect major Obstacles or minefields, but confidence about that is low - if encountered, then bypass. Regardless of this and given the intel then we do expect them to be entrenched and in a combat stance. From SIGINT we know that the ENY have access to Artillery in substantial but unknow amounts. Friendly Forces. We have other NATO Forces to our EAST and WEST that will push forward and support our attack. So do NOT cross the Taskforce boundaries reference Map trace, to avoid risk of Friendly Fire - this includes the UAV. Our Taskforce consists of 3 x tank platoons of Leopardo 2E as well as 2 x mechanized infantry platoon of Pizarro, along with a tactical reserve of 1 PLT of VRCC/Centauros and a 1 PLT of BMR-600/Pandur with ERCWS (12,7 HMG). We have also been augmented with a UAV from Golf Company, 3 x 6 tubes of 155mm howitzers and 6 x 120 mm mortars from Fox Company with its own supply truck (with the howitzers being further back, so off-map), as well as support assets from Hotel Company (repair, supply and medical). Our dismounted infantry from A COY is equipped with light machine guns (MG3s) and Anti-Tank teams ( 2 x Spike MR & 2 x AT-4). Each MECHINF platoon in A COY thus has 4x LMG teams and 2x Anti-Tank teams plus a medicteam, and are all considered Elite. Rules of Engagement. NOTHING IN THESE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE APPROPIATE ACTION TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. A. You have the right to use force to proactively engage any and all ENY targets of opportunity. B. The force should be used under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. D. We are at war. Destruction of civilian property has been cleared by the local authorities if CO deems that there is a military value and goal in said destruction, including FIRES in urban areas. E. All Laws of War are to be observed. II. Mission Taskforce Tigre attacks to destroy enemy defenders between PL HAMMER and PL ANVIL to expand the NATO controlled area head and allow friendly forces to continue offensive operations further North. III. Execution Concept of the Operation Alpha Company and with 2 PLT´s from Bravo Company in tactical reserve, will continue to expand our Area of Control and clear Enemy armor, mechanized units and infantry from and around OBJ OMEGA; this will create a defence in depth for our forces and enable the remaining forces to follow up and expand our zones of control. The Taskforce will attack from the SOUTH and towards NORTHWEST, setting an attack by fire from PL HAMMER, and use own assets to clear OBJ OMEGA. Commanders Intent Purpose - The purpose of this operation is to clear the Enemy forces and defeat their will to fight in this AO. Key Tasks 1. Clear OBJ OMEGA End State Friendly Friendly forces postured on PL ANVIL; consolidated and prepared to continue operations towards the NORTH and NORTHEAST. Background: Following increasing tensions around the autonomous cities of Ceuta and Mellilla controlled by Spain in Northern Africa, driven in part by the European Migrant crisis , then Spain has felt forced to increase their military presence in the areas combined with a stronger naval presence off the coast. This has not gone over well with The North African nations in general and Morocco in particular. No one really knew what happened, but Spanish soldiers got into a firefight, after which it was demanded by Morocco backed by other North African nations that they vacated the areas. Which Spain naturally have rejected. From there things went even worse and war has now broken out without a formal declaration of war.
