Mission 1: Operation Talon Strike This is what I see as the first user-created operation, since the Operation system was introduced several years ago. Background This operation will take the player through several Platoon-sized missions using a variety of vehicles and equipment, and set in a fictional European conflict. Each mission is limited to four playable vehicles, with adjacent BLUEFOR units scripted to move with the player-controlled units. Performance Matters: Major Victories will result in benefits for the player and may unlock future missions. Defeats will still progress the operation, but may put the player in a tougher spot for future missions. Defeat = advantage REDFOR. Installation Drop the Talon Strike folder and .opc file in the following directory: Documents\eSim Games\Steel Beasts\My Operations This went through three Beta's before being published. Let me know if you find any bugs and I will do my best to fix immediately. Special Thanks: Mirzayev for beta testing and providing valuable feedback Thanks for Playing! ==========OPERATIONAL SITUATION========== Radonia - a nation facing a violent, internal conflict. a. General Situation Radonia sits on the Eastern-most edge of the region. Previously part of the larger Dradvic Republic, it has been an independent nation since the end of the Second World War. Years before separation, the Dradvic Republic used Radonia as a buffer between itself and bordering NATO-aligned countries. However, since its post-war separation, Radonia has faced internal challenges with hot-blooded rival political parties and a radically fluctuating and unstable economy. All the while, the Dradvic Republic has maintain significant influence along its northern border, and many northern Radonian families still maintain ties in the Dradvic Republic. In more recent history, political rivalries reached a flash point; two years previous, the youth of Radonia called for national reform in economic and trade policies, but many conservative groups quickly rejected the change and sparks ignited across the country. Those sparks quickly turned to flames, and in that time Radonia saw a rapid rise of violence and armed rebellion groups. As conditions deteriorated across Radonia, political leaders in the northern regional capital of Malinska denounced their union with Radonia and declared separation into an independent state. The regional capital, Malinska, sits near the northern border between Radonia and The Dradvic Republic. People of the region have historically favored the Dradvic Republic, in culture, lineage, and political views. In the recent chaos of Radonia, the most notable armed rebellion group has been the Radonian People’s Militia, who seemed to have organized, armed, and deployed forces faster than any other armed rebel group. b. Enemy The Radonian Peoples Militia (RPM) is manned, equipped, and trained as well as any Radonian military unit. Radonia previously enforced a conscription program which has allowed for most adults to gain a basic understanding of tactics and discipline, but the RPM is also supplemented with combat advisors and cadre from the Dradvic Republic. Deterioration in Radonian security forces also allowed the RPM to raid military depots and arsenals in the north to equip their own forces. The Radonian Peoples Militia - Malinska Brigade (RPM-MB) is center of gravity for the RPM. It’s leader is a recorded member of the Dradvic Republic Special Purpose Forces, and is capable of receiving funding, equipment, and additional manpower directly from the Dradvic Republic. The RPM-MD is organized into 5x Battalions: 3x Mechanized Infantry Battalions [MIBN] (2x BMP-1 / 1x MTLB) 1x Tank Battalion (T-55) 1x Field Artillery Battalion (2S1 / SA-19) 1x HQ & Support Company A majority of the Brigade's combat power is positioned in the city Malinska, where they can maintain the most influence. Battalions are also positioned along Highway 10; 1 MIBN defends the eastern flank near Latria and Kovuto Island, and 2 MIBN defends the west flank near Tashoor. Their Field Artillery battalion has batteries split, in support of MIBNs along Highway 10, but we suspect that they have positioned their SA19 systems to the east of Malinska, as it is a more suitable air avenue of approach for our aircraft. The Malinska Brigade command post is currently established inside of Malinska and is a hotbed of activity for military coordination as well as political support from foreign visitors. From this command post, the Malinska Brigade leadership can coordinate operational activities across their front, as well as logistics efforts to the north, along Highway 1. c. Friendly The Radonian ground forces are well-equipped, trained and led. However, their entire Ground Forces Command only consists of two Home Defense Brigades and one Infantry Brigade. The Radonian Home Defense Brigade in Malinska disintegrated last year, with most of its members joining the ranks of the Malinska Brigade. The remaining members still maintain their positions south of Malinska, but in limited numbers, and are most likely not capable of preventing the Malinska Brigade from attacking south of the city. The 1st Radonian "FALCON" Brigade (YOU) has deployed to the area and is prepared to conduct combat operations against the Radonian Peoples Militia. The Falcon Brigade consists of Task Force HAMMER (Leopard 2A4) Task Force ANVIL (Pizzaro) Task Force SNAKE (LAV-25) Task Force HAWK (Special Operations Recon) Task Force THUNDER (2S3) The mission of FALCON Brigade is to defeat the Radonian Peoples Militia (Malinska Brigade) operating in/around Malinska to restore the security posture in the region and improve Radonia's national security posture against international threats. Our Brigade will do this by swiftly attacking into the flanks of the Malinska Brigade to secure key terrain and influence support-zone activities, and to isolate the defenders of Malinska. Once conditions are set, we will launch an aggressive armor attack into the city-center to destroy remaining RPM-MB threats and restore the security posture of the area.

  3. Kanium Sunday 24th of September OPS Winter Storm PART 3 by Nike-Ajax, in honor of SwordsmanDK I decided to make a last scenario in the unfinished campaign, so the end to the last two Sundays sessions and Scenarios. I hope I do his work at least some justice. Where: Kanium TS : ts3.din-server.dk:10000 World Clock 1800 GMT (Same time as always in Europe - now adjusted for Summer Time: click the time below for your local time) World clock 1800 GMT IMPORTANT NOTICE: This SB session may be recorded with video and sound and uploaded, including to a public youtube channel. AS always, then we are running the session with the latest version of Steelbeasts. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance 😁 Ops: Winter Storm - Mission 3 of 3 - COUNTERATTACK by Nike-Ajax 1. SITUATION a. Enemy. Remaining Motor Rifle BDE from the 9th Brigade have consolidated their gains and taken up hasty defence to our EAST. Eny BDE has managed despite again taking almost impossibly heavy casualties, to secure the area to the EAST of OBJ SISU. In this position they still threaten our Air base to the north. We belive that they, if given time will consolidate and reinforce and push West and North both threatening our Airbase as well as our HQ to the West. They as a consequeence of the heavy losses we have inflicted in the last two battles, still held back in the Hunttula Forrest by Jaegers from F COy with heavy arty support and using minefields. We estimate that the ENY BTG to our East have been replenished to full strength, using the last reserves of the reinforced BDE. Drones and satelite intel confirms thats NO fresh units are on their way beyond that. The ENY in other words have no more reinforcements in this sector. Moreover it seems that the ENY overall command have been somewhat paralyzed due to the heavy losses they have incurred in such short time, so in total it is expected that the ENY will NOT attack until they have been reinforced, which means that they also tactically are inactive for now. Special forces are still in place to our EAST and report that ENY has reinforced and consolidated their HQ in ZZ1 with a large number of supply and command vehicles. We have heard unconfirmed rumours that they have taken civilian hostages at the ENY HQ to ensure we do not strike them with INDIRECT. MCOA for the ENY appears to defend in place awaiting replacements and reinforcements, in HASTY defence. But still with a risk of localized counterattacks. Our Recon seemed to indicate ENY Engineers working to the NORTH of OBJ SISU, thus indicating a risk of surface laid minefields there. But otherwise they have not had time to dig in yet. Intel confirms they are composed of T-72B3 tanks and BMP-2/BTR-82 mixed. They are supported by BDE assets, including strong AA of which some are SA19. So much like the forces you have already met and destroyed. ENY have taken up a Defensive position along the FLET, in preparation for the reinforcement that they somehow hope will arrive. Strong ENY Artillery expected in the AO. Air Warning Red !!! b. Friendly. Our Mechanized Battlegroup is to ATTACK and DESTROY ENY HQ, and in the process continue to attrit ENY BTG. Additional reserves are ready to our WEST (2 x TNK (LEO2A4) and 1x Mech plt). - B TNK COY (100%strength), 3 x PLT plus CMD - D COY (Mech) (100% strength), 3 x PLT plus CMD, Spike+NLAW combo (only small drones for inf PLTs) - Papa units - 2 x Romeo Section (2 x Recon BMP-2) - ECHO units (6 x Biber) - Hotel Units (AD, CSS, 1 UAV active, 1 UAV in reserve (on trigger) and HQ) - 1 x PLT MECHINF from F COY to the West (on trigger) - 2 x PLT TNK Leopard 2A4 from G COY to the West (on trigger). - Your indirect package have been upgraded 2. MISSION BG will COUNTERATTACK EAST to DESTROY the ENY HQ and supply centre. 3. EXECUTION a. Purpose. The purpose of this operation is to DESTROY the ENY, thus removing the options for further advance as well as securing the Airfield to our North, as well as opening for the possibility of a total ENY collapse in this sector. Avoid decisive losses, BUT this is a high priority mission and HQ are willing to incur losses if it can not be avoided to reach the goals. b. Key Tasks 1. Attack from West to EAST, destroying the ENY as you progress, and CLEARING the ENY HQ and supply node. 2. Protect your flanks as you push East, but you do NOT need to clear the AO of every ENY unit. 3. Do NOT get fixed 4. Use bibers to make bridge crossings as needed 5. A full Counterattack have been authorized by COs command and judgement, but do not risk the integrity of his command or the other tasks. c. End State Key task completed. ENY HQ and supply node destroyed. Own forces able to execute follow-up attacks to clear the entire AO to the East. d. Fires 1x AMOS PLT 2 x 3 tubes (with limited STRIX) 2 x BTY 4 x 3 tubes K1 Thunder 155mm 1 x 2 MLRS (NO reloads) >>>NOTES:<<<< 1. Your artillery can be killed! 3. You can NOT strike the ENY HQ with indirect - because there is a risk of friendly hostages. You MUST get eyes on first with OWN units - UAV is not enough. 4. STRIX are only to be used for verified targets! 5. BMS is on reflecting on modern units and BMS systems 7. Drones can be used in the entire AO. 8. Be careful of ENY AA - indicated range is a guesstimate and will change when and if ENY pushes AA assets forward. 9. OBSERVE: Bridges marked B1 and B2 are INTACT, due to the fact that the CO of the last engagement kept his composure and did NOT give the order to detonate. All other bridges are expected to be down to the East. Background Following the events in Ukraine and elsewhere, and their consequences, then many nations across the world have taken a hard and long look at their strategic positions. And also their strategic wishes and goals. Right or wrong then this has led some to believe that the West is weak. Whether this is true or not is immaterial and unimportant. Sometimes subjectively perceived weakness is objectively real weakness in Geo-politics, and this is one of them. Following a grinding war in Syria combined with ethnic strife in Shia Majority Iraq, then Iran have slowly evolved their power base in both countries, building on decades of work. And there have been talks of further strategic cooperation and integration between these countries, which the West and Saudi Arabia and their allies have tried and failed to counter and stop. Iranian forces have already trained closely with their Iraqi and Syrian counterparts for a while, as well as posting increasingly strong forces in both nations. While at the same time having Quds force training and building alliances with terrorists organizations like Hezbollah. This not only threatens Saudia Arabia, but also Israel in the West and Turkey in the North, to name some. But the whole region is destabalized. And the situation is made more volatile by the continued fighting with sporadic elements and remnants of ISIS and similar terror organizations as well as with Kurdish forces. The Kurds have a mixed relationship with Iran, having been both foe and allied if not friends with them, during the last 40 years. But are in direct confrontation with Turkey. This whole situation came to a head six months ago, when the three nations of Syria, Iraq and Iran at a joint press conference broadcast across all media, declared that they would join in what was termed the United Islamic Federation. Referendums were held shortly after this, in all three nations, which allthough disputed by international organizations and many other nations at least internally validated the decision. Following this then they immediately started integrating both in military, political and economic ways. And it seems that this was planned for a while, and expected. It was described as a Federation of independent states. But to many other nations it seemed like a de facto, Iranian led super nation, that stood to dominate the Middle east and beyond.Particularly as the Iranian leadership consolidated and expanded their control after the unification. This unsurprisingly created tensions and fears across the middle east as this meant that Israel, Saudi arabia and Turkey now shared borders with UIF. This in turn meant that all the countries surrounding the Super nation increased their military readiness and sought to expand and cement their alliances, with little or nor real effect. Almost two months ago the situation changed drastically when a terrorist bomb took out the entire Assad family. Allthough the Kurds were quickly blamed by the leadership of UIF, then many whispered that it might in fact have been the Iranians removing one of the remaining barriers for total control. Either directly or by proxy through one of the terrorgroups that Iranian Quds force have trained. Regardless of the truth of the matter, then the consequence was that UIF forces struck and struck hard and fast against the Kurds. Intially Turkey for many reasons including historic, welcomed this. However as UIF forces struck ever further north and west Turkey was increasingly worried, and started to make hasty preparations to repel UIF forces if needed. This eventually meant that UIF and Turkish forces came into close contact. And with mutual distrust, tensions running high and a lot of weapon systems in close proximity, then all it took was a spark. And the spark came two weeks ago, when UIF fighters got too close to the Turkish border. And were shot down. The UIF claimed they were attacked on UIF territory whereas Turkey claims UIF had passed into Turkish airspace. With the last decades history in the region, then the border is somewhat fluid in places. So its not entirely clear who is right. What is clear though, is that this has escalated from a border dispute to what is increasingly looking like a full scale conventional war, as neither side wanted - or could - back down. So there has been constant and escalating skirmishes, artillery duels and limited air battles ever since. NATO and the rest of the world is dragging their feet, and while making suggestions and urging talks then in effect they have done nothing. Russia and China and their spheres of influence are on the fence, and have not taken sides yet. Turkey has talked about invoking Article 5 of the NATO charter, but has not done so yet. There are also resistance internally in NATO for different reasons and EU is totally paralyzed and are thus also on the fence. But the Turks have put their military and police on full military readiness. Yesterday a strong UIF battlegroup pushed North. It has been decided that Turkey must strike back ... A line has been drawn in the sand. And the UIF foolishly chose to cross it. I. Situation Time 0530 Local Time, sunrise at 05:33 and sunset at 19:50 Weather Clear sky with no chance of rain, 35 degrees Centigrade and LOS 3000 Km. Wind direction SW at 3 m/s General. We are at war, although it has not been formally declared yet, and no politicians will utter the words. UIF force has thrust a few miles into our territory and in our AO has set up a temporary HQ to the south. It is expected that they will soon thrust further North to expand and consolidate their position. And either create either a better position from which to negotiate or worse still: to push further North as first part of general offensive. The terrain is extremely difficult for both sides, but our hands are tied. This is where the battle must be fought as it is militarily and politically unacceptable to let UIF forces push further north. Due to the remoteness and difficult terrain, then we have not been able to assemble all the forces we would. So we will have to fight with what we have. Among other assets we have allocated an UAV for your use and allocated significant support assets including an artillery brigade, a MLRS battery and 4 strike planes. With these assets, then it is hoped that you will be able to hit the ENY while he is out of formation and unable to bring his forces to bear with full weight. In short we are hoping that you will be able to create the conditions for a counterattack and Defeat the enemy in Detail. From the size and composition of the Enemy then we expect that he will use four columns routes his attack, with a possible additional fifth column. We are politically and militarily still building up, so we need the Enemy to get a bloody nose and show our potential allies and helpers that we are viable and that they can bet on us not to fold before they might help us. Allthough we are rapidly reactivating older equipment and reservists, then the challenge is that neither side can bring their full forces to bear due to the terrain. So we need to be smart and flexible. We expect the ENY to have far less flexibility in their Command and Control structure, which means that we hope to be better able to adapt to the difficult terrain conditions. Our Taskforce Yeniçeri - Janissary, as part of an ADHOC Battlegroup, have been tasked with this mission. You will be outnumbered but not outfought. We have a difficult tasking in that our options are very much open, and the HQ needs us to exploit any mistakes the ENY makes and use all opportunities and has the correct timing and cooperation to execute the counter attack. And do this while remaining combat effective for the next battle, as UIF is already moving reinforcements forwards. If it turns out that the chance shows it self, then you are free to use your own initiative to push further SOUTH as long as it doesnt endanger your other tasks. From INTEL, then it appears that the Enemy have no prepared defences in the South or elsewhere in this AO but from HUMINT and SIGINT, then its expected that they have a light screening force in place to hold off any attack from the North. You are cleared to use all weapons at your disposal with extreme prejudice in all of the AO, including FIRES in the Urban areas. And you have the full weight of the BTN artillery at your call. Terrain and Ground The terrain in our AO is VERY difficult and challenging. Consequently it will shape both our and the ENY´s movement and options. Thus creating both opportunities, problems and hazards for both sides. It is mountainous, including impassable (by vehicles at least) rockfields. Be careful when passing them as this means a risk of detracking Callsigns as well as damaging suspension. Furthermore there are several ravines and gullies which in effect will work as anti-tank ditches spread out over the AO. Added to which is scattered forested areas. Finally there is a deep and wide valley going from NW to SE, which will likely de facto trap any callsigns venturing into it. A careful MAP RECCE is advised. Enemy Forces. The Enemy to our overall front is a Battalion sized(+) combined UIF Force. From Intel, both HUMINT and SIGINT then this seems to be at least the following: 1) One Light motorized Irregular COY made up of Hezbollah fighters under UIF command. Expected to be riding technicals with an assortment of heavy weapons, including RCL, HMG and ATGMs. Estimated strength around 5 PLts in groups of 3 callsigns. 2) One reinforced RECON COY, with estimated around 4 PLTs Scorpion light tanks, and around 2 PLTs BMP-1s. 3) One MECHINF COY, estimated around 4 PLTs BMP-2s of 4 callsigns 4) One MECHINF COY, Estimated around 4 PLTs BTR-80s of 4 callsigns 5) One Tank COY with Chieftain Mk. 5s, estimated at around 4 PLTs of 4 callsigns. 6) One Tank COY with updated T-72s, estimated to be equivalent to T-72B1 m. 1985 level. Confidence about which is HIGH Added to this there is a light screening force around the ENY HQ and STRONG ENY AA units spread out around the area surrounding the ENY HQ. This likely also includes around 2 PLTs of T72s Finally an unknown number of ex-Iraqi T-55 Minebreaching tanks with plows have been seen in the AO. Confidence is HIGH There have been rumours that the UIF is trying to get a handful of Ex-Iraqi M1A1´s into the AO by rail. But we have NO firm Intel on that at this stage. Confidence about which is LOW to MEDIUM. Enemy COA From our INTEL sources and from what we have seen lately, the UIF will form these into Mixed COYs, and expected to attack in four columns. Confidence about that is MEDIUM to HIGH. BUT with rumours of a fifth column unsubstantiated but persistent. Confidence about which is LOW to MEDIUM. We expect the ENY to be experienced and their ammunition the best they can get. The Enemy is on the offence and have constructed no defences nor we do not expect any ENY Obstacles or minefields in your AO, attack vector and direction, confidence about that is HIGH. But we do however expect them to be aggressive and in a combat stance. From history of the ENY, then it is expected that they will stop and fall back if hit hard enough. Thus opening the way for our Counter attack. HQ have promised that other operations will deny the ENY of any further reinforcements from the SOUTH and EAST beyond what is described above. Confidence about that is HIGH. From SIGINT and knowing their SOP, then we know that the ENY have access to Artillery in substantial but unknown amounts. This might include a battery of BM-21s Friendly Forces. We have limited local air superiority, and therefore have 4 strike planes but no rotary wing support. This is primarily due to strong local Air defence around the ENY HQ to the Southeast. But also because Command is afraid of escalating the confrontation too fast. We have NO other friendly forces in our immediate vicinity, with the next line of defence - IF we fail and fall - further North West, and in weak positions. Our Taskforce Yeniçeri - Janissary consists of 4 x tank platoons of Leopard 2A4 as well as 4x mechanized infantry platoon of M113G3 with OWS, 1 HEAVY RECON PLT divided in 2 sections of 3 callsigns each of Leopard 1A5. We also have a tactical reserve of 2 PLT of M60 SABRA (Looks like M60A3(TTS)), 1 PLT of M113 TOW and 1 PLT of M113G3 with OWS. We also have 3 x 6 Tubes of 155mm SP howitzers, which have a full range of rounds including Two (2) FASCAM missions (self-destruct 30 mins) and 2 x 6 x 120 mm SP mortars (with the howitzers being further back, so off-map), as well as support assets from HQ Company (2 x (repair, 2 x supply and medical)). We have no Air Beyond the 4 strikeplanes due to heavy presence of ENY AA and AAA in AO, EXCEPT that we DO have an UAV (P-8). But do not push the UAV too far South it will surely be shot down (Reference Map trace) Our dismounted infantry from B and D COY is equipped with 2 x Anti-Tank teams (SPIKE MR) (Odds callsigns). Each MECHINF platoon in B COY thus has 2x Anti-Tank teams, the rest being issued with 2 x AT-4s and riflegrenades plus a medicteam, and are all considered Elite. Rules of Engagement. NOTHING IN THESE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE APPROPIATE ACTION TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. A. You have the right to use force to proactively engage any and all ENY targets of opportunity. B. You are cleared to fire first on all hostile targets or targets with deemed hostile intent, including armed civilians. C. The force should be used under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. D. We are at war. Destruction of civilian property has been cleared by the local authorities if CO deems that there is a military value and goal in said destruction, including FIRES in urban areas. E. All Laws of War are to be observed. II. Mission Taskforce Yeniçeri/Janissary is to repulse ENY attacks from South. And then to go on the offence and destroy enemy defenders between PL Öldürmek/Alpha and PL Yikmak/Bravo, and if possible to Destroy ENY HQ to the Southeast. III. Execution Concept of the Operation: Taskforce Yeniçeri/Janissary with 4 PLTs in tactical reserve, will attack from the North and towards SOUTH, setting an attack by fire from PL Öldürmek/Alpha towards PL Yikmak/Bravo, and try to catch and isolate the ENY while they are out of formation and position. They have 2 FASCAM missions to assist in this goal along with limited Obstacles inclduing one (1) Minefield. They will also use own assets to defend FRIENDLY HQ and SP 1 from the Enemy. This will open the area for further offensive operations, disrupt the Enemys defences in the area and achieve our overall political goals in this stage, including blunting further ENY Offensive actions in the short run. Do not risk the integrity of your command by attacking the Enemy forward HQ the SOUTH UNLESS the TF CO is positive enough that this can achieved successfully and without compromising the integrity of his command. However you are encouraged to use initiative and ingenuity in executing the goals. Commanders Intent Purpose - The purpose of this operation is to attack, and then clear the Enemy forces and defeat their will to fight in this AO, while defending OWN HQ and Supply Point. Key Tasks 1. Defend Friendly HQ and SP 1 and repulse ENY Attacks 2. Attack from vicinity PL Öldürmek/Alpha towards PL Yikmak/Bravo destroying the ENY as you go. 3. If possible and sensible exploit any opportunities including attacking the ENY HQ to the South. End State Friendly Friendly forces postured on or in vicinity of PL Yikmak/Bravo; consolidated and prepared and able to continue operations towards the SOUTH and EAST. Enemy Enemy forces defeated or destroyed between PL Öldürmek/Alpha and PL Yikmak/Bravo, unable to support Enemy forces in the Southern part of the AO. Terrain All tactically commanding terrain features in friendly hands and cleared of enemy forces. Civilian Not relevant as all LOCAL inhabitants are evacuated Fires We have 3 x 6 Tubes of self-propelled 155 mm howitzers that will directly support this operations, from outside of the AO (offmap) and 2 x Six (6) 120 mm self-propelled Mortars for use. We also have 1 MLRS Strike on standby (No reloads). Finally we have an UAV (P-8), to assist with target identification and possibly BDA. 2 x 6 x Tubes of 120mm organic fires under TF CO control (P-1 and P-2) 3 x 6 x Tubes of 155 mm off-map fires under TF CO control, including 2 x FASCAM 1 x MLRS Strike Package (2 x 3 MLRS BM-21, P51 and P54), no reloads There are 12 Priority fire missions allocated. AS always, then we are running the session with the latest version of Steelbeasts. Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance Operation Peacemaker ver. 2020 6´th of July 2021 SB Mission by Nike-Ajax 0. Background For some time now tensions and disputes have been rising in Eastern Europe, fueled by a number of reasons including the perceived lack of understanding for the position and challenges faced internally and externally by the nations on Europe and NATOs Eastern flank. This has lead to internal dissention in the souteastern area, which combined with perceived threats from the East has led them to increase the expenditure on their armed forces. Specifically then one of the countries bought a reinforced Armored/mechanized Battalion´s worth of used but fully serviceable vehicles from Turkey. This includes a number of upgraded M60´s, AIFVs ((represented by M113AS4)), MILAN ATGMs and around 10 to 20 Leopard 2A4´s. In a very disturbing turn of events that no one saw coming, then the reinforced Battalion which received the equipment, have risen against what they termed "national interests" and against "The EU dictatorship". The Local government have tried to contain them with little luck but have managed to establish a heavy belt of obstacles and mines, forcing the Rebels to slow down and try to consolidate in the AO. EU have taken a more political role, or in others word have not done much of anything. The local Government at this time turned to Germany for help at to stop any further disruption and chaos, in the context of EU and Bilateral agreements. Our governemt has reluctantly agreed but at this time we have a very limited force in the AO. It has been decided by the politicians - against the advice of the military - that the time to strike is now as the rebels are mostly contained in one area, even though we are outnumbered. The reason for this is not merely that we have the rebels isolated, but much more importantly that Intel have conclusively stated that the Rebel Commander is present at the forward Eny HQ. Thus our primary mission is a Kill/Capture of the ENY commander. Its is expected that the localized rebellion, will fall apart if the ENY Commander is taken out of the equation. I. Situation Time: 0600 Local Time Weather: Ligthly clouded with no chance of rain, 23 degrees Centigrade and LOS 3600 Meters General No war have been declared. Our strategic objective is to SECURE and HOLD OBJ GRIFFIN for at least 15 minutes, to enable a SOF Detachment from KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte standing by and under Direct Control of the TF HQ to either capture or kill him. The Rebels have surged a limited distance into our AO, then taken up HASTY DEFENSE having lost momentum and initiative. It is likely they are expecting a COUNTER ATTACK. Terrain: Dangerous mixture of closed and open, with channeling and blocking terrain features particularly to the West and South-west with a combination of a hilly and forested terrain. Friendly Air and ARTY have DESTROYED all the bridges and mined the access points to the West from where the Rebels attacked, thus they can not reinforce except with what is in the AO now which in any case is almost everything they have. Obstacles: The Local government has put a strong belt of minefields (Reference Maptrace) and obstacles to the South-west, to channel, block and delay the Rebels. This minefield has now been reinforced by way of FASCAM (No timer on them as these are older generation FASCAM). THESE AREAS ARE PROHIBITED to all our forces on pain of DEATH. This leaves a number of passes and areas where we - hopefully - can channel the enemy into our Engagement areas, while the SOF Detachment find and Inert the Rebel Commander. Current Situation. The Rebels have pushed into the AO, and now quite literally have their backs against the wall. This means that they have occupied the better positions with superior numbers, however they have not had time to entrench nor place additional obstacles. Our Taskforce (TF) PEACEMAKER, as an independent QRF, have been tasked with this mission. You will be outnumbered but not outfought, But dont underestimate the Enemy. We are on Friendly soil, and must thus expect a fair number of civilians in the AO - and the international community is watching. Therefore, you are tasked to avoid civilian casualties to the degree that it does not endanger your command or overall goals. FIRES in the Urban areas are only authorised by TF COMD, and then only if absolutely necessary. Enemy Forces Strength: ENY Combined Bn(+). Equipment: At least two (2) full combined and reinforced Companies with M60A3, AIFV (With M113AS4 used as substitute) and with additional support and recon troops (From INTEL likely VEC-M1). Likely also screening forces around OBJ GRIFFIN as well as the likely presence of a number of ENY ATGM, which can include MILANs, confidence about last HIGH. The ENY have another two full companies in reserve which they will likely push forward in a COUNTERATTACK when we have taken OBJ GRIFFIN. These will likely include a unknown number of Leopard 2A4´s, but otherwise probably have similar composition to the other two COYs. Confidence about that is HIGH. Quality: Likely experienced conscripts and their ammunition the best the Turkish that sold the the vehicles can get. MDA: ENY only in HASTY DEFENSE in Main Defensive Areas (MDA), no constructed defences, entrenchments and major obstacles identified or likely - aside from the known minefields and obstacles in the West of your AO (Reference Maptrace), confidence about which is HIGH. Reinforcement: NOT expected from the North, South or East as their lines of communication are cut for now. They DO have reinforcements to the West Reference Maptrace and per previous. Confidence HIGH. ENY CoA: Likely will not continue their attack, but rather try to lure our forces into an attritional fight where their numerical advantage, and use of terrain, will make up for their weakness in equipment. ENY have access to Artillery in Substantial numbers, exact units deployed for this operation unknown. Friendly Forces (FF). Local AIR SUPERIORITY achieved. Flanks. FF North and East to SECURE Flanks, but not to Spt Attack. TF PEACEMAKER: TF consists of 3 x tank platoons of Leopard 2A6 as well as 2 x mechanized infantry platoon of Marder 1A3 (PLTs of 4), along with a tactical reserve of 1 SEC of Leopard 2A6 (2) and a 1 SEC of Marder 1A3 (2) B Coy Dismounted infantry equipped with 2 x Anti-Tank teams (SPIKE MR) (Odds callsigns) and 2 x LMG Teams (Even callsigns). Situation. Most don't know his real name, but simply refer to him as THE BEAR (Karhu, in Finish). He remains a feared leader in the region; respected by both subordinates, civilians, and the enemy. 6-hours ago a Human Intelligence source indicated that The Bear has gone missing, potentially as part of an enemy raid by special operations forces operating in the area. Imagery and Electronic Intelligence has determined that his exact whereabouts has been linked to a small grouping of villages to the north (OBJ CAGE), which is surrounded by a mixed company of light infantry, supported by armor (T-72B). Our reconnaissance has identified a series of enemy outposts, each one supported by a platoon of light infantry - all within reach of enemy armor that can quickly reinforce it, if necessary. Additionally, there is a significant unconventional threat in the area. Local enemy insurgents will use the temporary absence of The Bear to their advantage and will attempt to quickly seize power in the area. Signals Intelligence has indicated significant activity, and potentially a massive rally of enemy unconventional forces. B and C Companies are positioned on our flanks. Both Companies are light infantry, postured in defensive positions, keeping a sharp eye on the enemy. Our Company (A) is located at Forward Operating Base Serpent, equipped with 2x platoons of Leopard 2A4 tanks, and one platoon of CV9030 (FI) IFVs, as well as 1x 81mm mortar section to support his operations. II. Mission Conduct a raid to retrieve The Bear within a 2-hour window III. Execution Intent. The purpose of this operation is to retrieve a local special operations commander. It is imperative that this operation be successful, as it may potentially hinder the relationship with local indigenous forces as well as the national-strategic alliance that has been developed over several years. End State. Within TWO HOURS, The Bear is safely returned to FOB Serpent, unharmed and ready to be turned over to local forces. IV Support. One support platoon has been allocated for this mission which includes resupply, medical, and repair vehicles V. Command and Signal A-66 has overall command responsibility for this mission Additional Coordinating Instructions 1. The Bear will spawn once players find his location and approach him with dismounted infantry. 2. Return The Bear to the FOB and the mission will be successful (2 minutes in the FOB will trigger the win criteria) 3. Satellite Imagery indicates that The Bear was last wearing a Brown t-shirt and blue jeans with sport shoes 5) COMMAND AND SIGNALS: Per Kanium SOP

Everybody is Welcome: you don't have to belong to Kanium. We love playing with you all, the arranger and CO loves you even more if you sign up in advance JAALA BRIDGE DATE: 2014-10-17 06:47 WEATHER: Raining, wet ground and visual range of about 1500m. 0) INTRO Damned October, this rain never stops making everything soaking wet and mud everywhere. To make it even worse the russians are doing a damn fine job bombing our forces everywhere we show up when the weather improves. Since the war began 2 days ago the sound of guns have hardly stopped a single time. And once they do stop it to mark a new air strike coming in. Not many in the Finnish Defence Forces was supprised when Putin sent his dogs over the borders of Finland and entire Baltics with the excuse that he is defending russian people in the Baltics and at the same time answering the Finnish "provocations" with steel on steel. But it did although take us a bit on the bed, so many supplys vehicles has gone up in smoke in air attacks and we had to scramble into the deep forest of Finland to avoid the air attack and start forming our defence. 1) SITUATION: a) Enemy: 138th Motorised Brigade have attacked west last two days but has been stopped east of KOUVOLA (to our SOUTH) by friendly forces and are now prowling a new route westwards. Last known contact was south of LINTUKYMI river at LAMMINKYLÄ where a BMP-2 Platoon was spotted close to the blown bridge along Route 46. We have 138th MotBrig against use who are composed by BMP-2 and T-72B with support of 155mm SPG.Most likely enemy COA is to take the bridges over LINTUKYMI and push on to JAALA to either continue WEST to VIERUMÄKI - LAHTI or go SOUTH along smaller roads to KAUSALA to cut of Road 12 that connects LAHTI and KOUVOLA. For us that means that most likely we have parts of a Battalion Tactical Group (BTG) heading for the bridges over LINTUKYMI, heading towards JAALA. At this time there is no reports of enemy activity in the AO at all except the BMP-2 platoon down south but our S2 expect the enemy to have reached atleast the small river running SOUTH connnecting SONNANJÄRVI and LINTUKYMI with advance guard or recce forces and we can expect Motorised Companys following them close behind. b) Own: Our small combat team is what Bn commander could scratch together this morning after the heavy losses we been taking since the war begun and we are the only combat forces between the enemy and JAALA where the Bn HQ are established right now. Right now our Combat team consist of: 2 x Tank platoons (x4) 2 x CV9030 platoons (x4) 1 x Eng Section (x2) 2x6 155mm Battery firing HE ICM SMOKE (Off map) 2) MISSION: Advance best speed to TOLSKANVUORI area and DESTROY the TWO BRIDGES crossing the river LINTUKYMI at GR798676 IOT delay the enemys advance west. Thereafter withdraw back to JAALA for new tasking. (Move to EXFIL area). 3) EXECUTION: Intent: Get to the bridges, even if it means fighting our way through light opposition. Blow up the bridges. Pull back to Jaala. If situation allows, give the russians a bloody nose before pulling back. End state: Our combat team exfiled to EXFIL area, bridges blown and own forces 75% strenght and ready for further tasking after stocking up ammo and fuel at Jaala. 4) SERVICE SUPPORT Due to heavy air attacks by the Russian air force we do not have any logistics with us more then a recovery vehicle and a ambulance. We are fully combat loaded and that will have to do until we get back to Jaala and can restock from logistics unit there. 5) COMMAND AND SIGNALS: Per Kanium SOP: A66 = CO A65 = XO P1 = FO A1-A2 = tank platoons A3-A4 = Mech platoons A5 = CSS platoon E1 = Engineers 6) ANNEX Mobility: Bridges with limitations have been marked on map with MLC. Bridges with no restriction have nothing marked on them. 7) GAME DETAILS To detonate the bridge you first need to have ENG E1 in the grey area marked "EngArea" around the bridge for 15mins. (Simulating the bridge in peacetime was prepared for demolition so only demolitions and connectors have to be placed) and then hit trigger 1 = "Blow the bridges" to blow it up.

Mission score is based on enemy casualties and objectives taken Mech TF CO's orders to you: 1. SITUATION ENEMY: Enemy 63rd Mech Rifle Regiment is attacking south-west via the Highway 6. Its forward units are already in battle with our InfBn107. The Bn should be able to hold out for one more day - but then a breakthrough is possible. The regiment has covered its left flank with quite strong detachment (we believe around 2 companies of Mech Infantry + possible tank detachments, possible guarding the whole Division's flank!). The detachment has already conducted recon by fire against our Jäger Bn 101 suffering minor casualties. FRIENDLY: Jäger Bn has moved in to block the enemy flank guard units from advancing further west. 1. MechTF has moved to the area and has suffered casualtied from enemy air attacks. 1st Co+ (ELVIS - you!) has reached R15 (Ref Point 15) and is ready to attack north. Armoured Recce platoon (EYE) is already in the objective area giving out info on the enemy. MISSION: 1st MechTF attacks north towards Highway 6 and destroys enemy flank guard units. Attack must begin ASAP. After defeating the flank guards the TF will attack the Regiments flank to release the pressure on InfBn107 and to allow further counter-attacks by other friendly forces. Commander's mission to subordinates (in the area): 1st Co (ELVIS): Attack to R19 - secure the area and be prepared to continue north towards R31. Destroy any resistance you run into - enemy is believed to have ~platoon size "doorbell" force in the village. After reaching R19 Mech Inf-Platoon (ARROW) will move in and hold the area while you continue the attack.

  12. KANIUM FRIDAY 29TH OF DEC 1700 UTC "OPERATION LION" BY Swordsmandk also known as "Kanium New Years special (Long scenario 4-6 hours)" Where: Kanium TS : teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077 Early start 1700 UTC Everybody is welcome Long scen about 3-6 hours (Early starting time) Merry Christmas & a Happy new year Backstorie: 24/12 1979 Soviet troops invaded Afghanistan July 1980 A number of countries including the USA boycotted the summer Olympics held in Moscow in protest at the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Other countries including Great Britain participated under the Olympic flag rather than their national flag 13/12 1980 Martial law was declared to crush the Solidarity movement June 1982 During a summit in Geneva Reagan proposed Strategic Arms Reduction Talks Two days after Leonid Brezhnev's death, on 12 November 1982, Andropov was elected General Secretary of the CPSU, the first former head of the KGB to become General Secretary. His appointment was received in the West with apprehension, in view of his roles in the KGB and in Hungary. Andropov attempted to improve the economy by raising management effectiveness without changing the principles of socialist economy. In contrast to Brezhnev's policy of avoiding conflicts and dismissals, he began to fight violations of party, state and labour discipline, which led to significant personnel changes. In foreign policy, the war continued in Afghanistan. Andropov's rule was also marked by deterioration of relations with the United States. U.S. plans to deploy Pershing missiles in Western Europe in response to the Soviet SS-20 missiles were contentious. On 8 March 1983, during Andropov's reign as General Secretary, U.S. President Ronald Reagan labeled the Soviet Union an "evil empire". The same month, on 23 March, Reagan announced the Strategic Defense Initiative. Reagan claimed this research program into ballistic missile defense would be "consistent with our obligations under the ABM Treaty". However, Andropov was dismissive of this claim, and said that "It is time they stopped searching for the best ways of unleashing nuclear war. Engaging in this is not just irresponsible. It is insane". Meanwhile, Soviet-U.S. arms control talks on intermediate-range nuclear weapons in Europe were suspended by the Soviet Union in November 1983 and by the end of the year, the Soviets had broken off all arms control negotiations. Cold War tensions were exacerbated by Soviet fighters downing a civilian jet liner, Korean Air Flight KAL-007, which carried 269 passengers and crew, including a congressman from Georgia, Larry McDonald. KAL 007 had strayed over the Soviet Union on 1 September 1983 on its way from Anchorage, Alaska. In February 1983, Andropov suffered total renal failure. In August 1983, he entered the Central Clinical Hospital in western Moscow on a permanent basis. In late January 1984 Andropov's health deteriorated sharply and due to growing toxicity in his blood, he had periods of failing consciousness. He died on 9 February 1984 at 16:50 in his hospital room at age 69. Few of the top Soviet leaders, not even all the Politburo members, learned of his death on that day. In a move that astounded the west, then Konstantin Chernenko, who was appointed to be the next General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, was toppled in a bloodless coup by Communist hardliners backed by the military, and led by Minister of Defence of the Soviet Union Dmitriy Ustinov. Ustinov has become acting General Secretary, thus coalescing all power in one person. The Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact has since tightened in all reform efforts, and has in fact gone back to the Hardline Brezhnev stance. Soviet defence expenditures and exercise cycles have been sharply increased, leading to widespread fear in the West and NATO. NATO protests have not been heard in the east, where military forces have increased their readiness. It is now August 1984, and the tensions are higher than ever with massive Soviet exercise’s along the eastern and northern fronts of NATO. The new American movie “Red Dawn” that have just premiered, paints a controversial and scary picture of a USA invaded by the Soviet Union but mirrors big and growing fears of a very real possibility of an impending Soviet attack. The fact of the matter is that the soviet forces outnumber NATO forces in every aspect. Moreover then Peace movements, some of which are infiltrated by Traitors – what Lenin called Useful Idiots - and others which are just fronts for KGB and GRU, hinder every move that NATO tries to make in addressing the inequality. This includes Nuclear Weapons where Soviet Weapons somehow is not to be as big a problem as NATO´s. Protests and rallies have increased in both number and scope in the west as Left-wing groups; in cooperation with anti-nuclear groups actively seek to restrict both NATO and USA. USA under the leadership of Ronald Reagan, a long-time advocate of rollback, has taken a more aggressive approach to dealings with the Soviets and believes that détente is misguided and peaceful coexistence. NATO as well as USA have raised their military alert levels in response to a much more belligerent Soviet, and increases in Soviet military activity. However despite effort then the balance of power is still very much in favor of the Warsaw Pact. In the last weeks numerous sources have confirmed that Warsaw Pact forces are conducting wide-scale exercises and signal traffic has reached a fever-pitch. As a consequence of this NATO has recalled reserves and placed their forces on full military alert. The same has been done in the Neutral Countries in Europe. It would seem that this has not been sufficient to deter what everybody in the west has feared for decades: Yesterday Warsaw Pact forces attacked at several places, primarily and initially against West Germany. NATO has evoked Article V, and thus is now formally at War. World War 3 has started, and the hammer has already struck hard. North of Regensburg in Southern Germany, a German unit PZG BTN 104 (Mixed), has been deployed. Its mission is similar to many of the others along the long front: fight a delaying battle and hold the attackers as long as possible to enable reinforcements to arrive and consolidate. A full Reforger operation is starting up, but time is critical. And so is not getting tied up in a static defense, every man and vehicle counts, because the battle will not be over anytime soon. The units to the north and south are under heavy attack and are forced back, and the BG is thus forced to defend on three sides as they fight their way back. Initial Briefing (Final will arrive no later then saturday 23rd of DEC) SITUATION Enemy 1. Panzer Grenadier Division (DDR) is attacking our BDE. We have identified armor formations with T72 and T55 tanks along with a variety of mixed BMP and BTR. These units is consistent with a reinforced PzG Division. Enemy units is heavily supported by the division and will have mine clearence and bridging capability. Friendly Our Panzer BTN (Mixed) task is flanksecurity and delay if needed, along Route Yellow, against what has been identified as an ENY Panzer Grenadier Regiment(mixed) with Armor support from their Division. If they can push us towards River Weber then BDE Southern flank will be at risk. Our BTN is split into 2 BG (Tiger and Lion) with our BG delaying along route Yellow and our sister BG along route purple to our South East. Rest of BTN will be held as reserve and supply units will be ready to support against ENY main effort. We have been given additional support from BDE that will aide us along the route until we have reached Oldsdorff. Attachments and Detachments - 1x PLT of HVY Recon along with 1 Section of Luchs has been assigned to each BG. - 1x BTY of M109 with logistic support (You are not allowed to be more than 10km behind you BTN lead units should the need for fire across the BDE arise.) - 1x Biber Section (on Trigger) - Logistic/Aid support from BDE. These are called AidSt.1-3 and will be able to repair or replace any damage within 5 minutes in the zone. (You can only repair when the repair vehicles are both in the zone and BDE will withdraw them as the ENY approaches) Commander’s Evaluation MISSION BG Tiger is to provide flank security along route Yellow and Delay ENY forces advancing along the DOA Yellow. Preserve your combat strenght and DO NOT allow yourself to be tied down in battle. BPT cross to West side of Weber should ENY brake through BDE. Also BPT fall back should our flank be threatened by ENY forces. BDE recon will operate between BTN boundries an provide warning should this happen. EXECUTION a. Purpose. The purpose of this operation is to provide a secure south flank for the BDE to fight a delaying battle towards West, so that follow on Divisional forces can launch a counter attack in favourable terrain. Concept of Operations - Tasks/Missions to Manoeuvre Units 1. Protect BDE south flank 2. Delay and Disrupt ENY movement at DOA Yellow 3. Preserve combat strenght and BPT receive FRAGO from BDE c. End State i. Terrain. ENY delay / halted before HWY 15 ii. Friendly: BDE flanks has been secured. ii. Enemy: ENY units have been delayed / damaged sufficiently for a safe with drawl across Weber or a counter-attack by follow on forces. Tasks/Missions to Combat Support Units 6x Tubes (On screen) (split into 3 plt for 3 fire missions at once) Coordinating Instructions - ADMINISTRATION/LOGISTICS - Support Concept - Material and Services There are 3 forward maintenance and resupply depots 2 setup and manned 1 prepared (Can repair everything) Medical Evacuation and Hospitalisation There are 3 forward maintenance and resupply depots 2 setup and manned 1 prepared (Can repair everything) Personnel - Civil-Military Cooperation Civilian: Minimal collateral damage and disruption to the civilian way of life. Currently NATO are deploying two(2) Div IVO TORONTO that will be combat ready in the theatre within 2 days, so KANIUM still need to hold the line. Nato have succeeded in destroying the bridges crossing GANANOQUE and thereby denying Eny to transfer further tanks. The NATO BG, wherein KANIUM apply, have planned to stop eny in EA BLUE, and then push the eny back to the RIVER GANANOQUE. South Kanium is a digged in a national guard infantery force without mobility capabilities blocking eny advance with heavy improvisional and unregistred obstacles, so no movement allowed there. c) Attachments and detachments: Standard KANIUM 2) MISSION: KANIUM shall stop eny advance in EA BLUE and OO advance and clear the area upto RIVER GANANOQUE iot set conditions for NATO's further advance and liberation of GRAYLAND. 3) EXECUTION: Intent: Upto commander a) Concept of Operation: i) Maneuver: ii) Fires: iii) Additional assets: Minefields, fortifications available b) Tasks to Maneuver units: c) Tasks to Combat Support Units: Minefields, d) COORDINATING INSTRUCTIONS: 5) COMMAND AND SIGNALS: PLAY RULES. 1. Though Repair facility in Kingston base (SW the map) is available if you rotate units there. So either rotate or divide observe/fire tasks within platoons. Sorry to add this complication, but sure it will be handled someway..
