Welcome to The Jungle by Apocalypse I. SITUATION The area north of the Cam Dinh jungle is a hotbed of enemy activity, and recent intelligence reports indicate the arrival of BM-21 rocket systems into the area to support future enemy offensive strikes south of the Khulean River. Additional reports indicate the presence of a major enemy supply node that is massing supplies in a valley to the west of the Buon Ma Long mountains. We have defined two Targeted Areas of Interest where we can expect to see enemy Rocket Systems (TAI 01 & 02), and an additional TAI for the enemy supply node (TAI 03). The Division commander is organizing an attack to completely clear the enemy north of the Cam Dinh, and this operation is the first phase. It is imperative that we weaken the enemy by reducing their long range rocket capability as well as diminish their supplies prior to attacking into the area. Additionally, the Division G2 has identified the area near OBJ TIGER to serve as a future forward operating base for future attacks into the enemy-ridden landscape of the Bao Son and Buon Ma Long mountains. During this phase, we expect to see conventional enemy forces consisting of a mechanized infantry battlion (BMP-1) operating in company battle positions along key terrain. Enemy forces will employ spotter/obervers forward of their battle positions, supported by 152mm guns in the northern hills of the Bao Son, as well as Anti-Aircraft guns positioned along air axes to protect their high value targets. Our ground forces are staged south of the Phunya River, and our air assets are staged even further south. We also have a platoon of 155mm guns on standby, ready to be airlifted into Firebase Delta II. MISSION. Attack to defeat enemy forces operating north of the Cam DInh jungle. III. EXECUTION a. Day of Decision by Apocalypse 01 APR 25 0700 HRS I. SITUATION Once again, tensions are quickly rising along the Atropian/Donovian border. A recent border disput (yet again) has caused the Donovian National Command Authority to direct the Southern Army to re-position combat power along the Donovian/Atropian border. Combat forces from the 80th Mechanized Division are staged near the town of Badakhashon with the mission of smashing through the border to allow follow-on forces to exploit the gap into Atropia. Our forces as scattered and are slowly moving into defensive positions. Your company is on a rotation near the border - it was your last week before going home for a few weeks of R&R, but you're first and only line of defense against the Donovian wave. Your tank company is currently staged behind Hill 474 and the Samagen Heights. You have access to Highway 4 which runs across the border and directly to Badakhashon. It is the most likely avenue in which the 80th Division will attack through. You also have a platoon of Brigade scouts set in a screen across the border. They are lightly equipped but have exceptional observation posts that will provide you with plenty of early warning. We expect the 80th Division to attack with the 801 Mechanized Brigade as the first echelon. However, we also expect the 801st to be augmented with tanks from the 804th Tank Brigade and artillery from 805th Field Artillery Brigade. Behind the 801st will follow the 802nd and 803rd Mechanized Brigades. II. MISSION Defend along Highway 4 for two hours - allow friendly forces to reach defensive positions to your rear area (main battle area) and prevent the enemy from achieving decisive success along the border. III. EXECUTION Array your company at defensive positions to intercept the enemy that will approach along Highway 4. Brigade scouts will provide early warning to the east. However, we shouldn't expect any further assets to enter our area of operations. Hold your position for two hours to allow friendly forces to move into their defensive battle positions to our rear (west) and then be prepared to retrograde from the area. IV. SERVICE & SUPPORT All units are fully resupplied, and the company maintains two organic resupply vehicles as well as our medical evacuation vehicle. V. Background For some time now tensions and disputes have been rising in Eastern Europe, fueled by a number of reasons including the perceived lack of understanding for the position and challenges faced internally and externally by the nations on Europe and NATOs Eastern flank. This has lead to internal dissention in the souteastern area, which combined with perceived threats from the East has led them to increase the expenditure on their armed forces. Specifically then one of the countries bought a reinforced Armored/mechanized Battalion´s worth of used but fully serviceable vehicles from Turkey. This includes a number of upgraded M60´s, AIFVs ((represented by M113AS4)), MILAN ATGMs and around 10 to 20 Leopard 2A4´s. In a very disturbing turn of events that no one saw coming, then the reinforced Battalion which received the equipment, have risen against what they termed "national interests" and against "The EU dictatorship". The Local government have tried to contain them with little luck but have managed to establish a heavy belt of obstacles and mines, forcing the Rebels to slow down and try to consolidate in the AO. EU have taken a more political role, or in others word have not done much of anything. The local Government at this time turned to Germany for help at to stop any further disruption and chaos, in the context of EU and Bilateral agreements. Our governemt has reluctantly agreed but at this time we have a very limited force in the AO. It has been decided by the politicians - against the advice of the military - that the time to strike is now as the rebels are mostly contained in one area, even though we are outnumbered. The reason for this is not merely that we have the rebels isolated, but much more importantly that Intel have conclusively stated that the Rebel Commander is present at the forward Eny HQ. Thus our primary mission is a Kill/Capture of the ENY commander. Its is expected that the localized rebellion, will fall apart if the ENY Commander is taken out of the equation. I. Situation Time: 0600 Local Time Weather: Ligthly clouded with no chance of rain, 23 degrees Centigrade and LOS 3600 Meters General No war have been declared. Our strategic objective is to SECURE and HOLD OBJ GRIFFIN for at least 15 minutes, to enable a SOF Detachment from KSK Kommando Spezialkräfte standing by and under Direct Control of the TF HQ to either capture or kill him. The Rebels have surged a limited distance into our AO, then taken up HASTY DEFENSE having lost momentum and initiative. It is likely they are expecting a COUNTER ATTACK. Terrain: Dangerous mixture of closed and open, with channeling and blocking terrain features particularly to the West and South-west with a combination of a hilly and forested terrain. Friendly Air and ARTY have DESTROYED all the bridges and mined the access points to the West from where the Rebels attacked, thus they can not reinforce except with what is in the AO now which in any case is almost everything they have. Obstacles: The Local government has put a strong belt of minefields (Reference Maptrace) and obstacles to the South-west, to channel, block and delay the Rebels. This minefield has now been reinforced by way of FASCAM (No timer on them as these are older generation FASCAM). THESE AREAS ARE PROHIBITED to all our forces on pain of DEATH. This leaves a number of passes and areas where we - hopefully - can channel the enemy into our Engagement areas, while the SOF Detachment find and Inert the Rebel Commander. Current Situation. The Rebels have pushed into the AO, and now quite literally have their backs against the wall. This means that they have occupied the better positions with superior numbers, however they have not had time to entrench nor place additional obstacles. Our Taskforce (TF) PEACEMAKER, as an independent QRF, have been tasked with this mission. You will be outnumbered but not outfought, But dont underestimate the Enemy. We are on Friendly soil, and must thus expect a fair number of civilians in the AO - and the international community is watching. Therefore, you are tasked to avoid civilian casualties to the degree that it does not endanger your command or overall goals. FIRES in the Urban areas are only authorised by TF COMD, and then only if absolutely necessary. Enemy Forces Strength: ENY Combined Bn(+). Equipment: At least two (2) full combined and reinforced Companies with M60A3, AIFV (With M113AS4 used as substitute) and with additional support and recon troops (From INTEL likely VEC-M1). Likely also screening forces around OBJ GRIFFIN as well as the likely presence of a number of ENY ATGM, which can include MILANs, confidence about last HIGH. The ENY have another two full companies in reserve which they will likely push forward in a COUNTERATTACK when we have taken OBJ GRIFFIN. These will likely include a unknown number of Leopard 2A4´s, but otherwise probably have similar composition to the other two COYs. Confidence about that is HIGH. Quality: Likely experienced conscripts and their ammunition the best the Turkish that sold the the vehicles can get. MDA: ENY only in HASTY DEFENSE in Main Defensive Areas (MDA), no constructed defences, entrenchments and major obstacles identified or likely - aside from the known minefields and obstacles in the West of your AO (Reference Maptrace), confidence about which is HIGH. Reinforcement: NOT expected from the North, South or East as their lines of communication are cut for now. They DO have reinforcements to the West Reference Maptrace and per previous. Confidence HIGH. ENY CoA: Likely will not continue their attack, but rather try to lure our forces into an attritional fight where their numerical advantage, and use of terrain, will make up for their weakness in equipment. ENY have access to Artillery in Substantial numbers, exact units deployed for this operation unknown. Friendly Forces (FF). Local AIR SUPERIORITY achieved. Flanks. FF North and East to SECURE Flanks, but not to Spt Attack. TF PEACEMAKER: TF consists of 3 x tank platoons of Leopard 2A6 as well as 2 x mechanized infantry platoon of Marder 1A3 (PLTs of 4), along with a tactical reserve of 1 SEC of Leopard 2A6 (2) and a 1 SEC of Marder 1A3 (2) B Coy Dismounted infantry equipped with 2 x Anti-Tank teams (SPIKE MR) (Odds callsigns) and 2 x LMG Teams (Even callsigns). Each MECHINF platoon in B COY thus has 2x Anti-Tank teams and 2 x LMG Teams, the rest being issued with PzF-3T*s and rifle grenades plus a medic team, and are all considered Elite. The rest of our INF Squads are thus armed to standard, including with PzF-3T*. A team of Friendly SOF under direct control of TF HQ (so not on map), will execute Capture/Kill when OBJ Griffin is Cleared enough to safely execute their misson. FIRES 4 x 6 Tubes of 155mm SP howitzers, no FASCAM available, 1 x 6 x 120 mm SP mortars with their own supply trucks (with the howitzers being further back, so off-map, 8 CAS strike missions on call. For 155 mm: Unlimited HE and SMOKE, but only 30 rounds of ICM per tube due to lack of ICM rounds in general. (As usual: ALL ARTILLERY IS UNDER THE CONTROL OF CO AND FO: so do not touch the ARTY controls if you not one of these two). LOGISTICS: Repair SEC, Fuel SEC, 2 x Supply and 1 x MED SEC. NO Engr, as there are expected no major obstacles in vector of attack. So BYPASS any ENY obstacles. Rules of Engagement. NOTHING IN THESE RULES OF ENGAGEMENT LIMITS YOUR RIGHT TO TAKE APPROPIATE ACTION TO DEFEND YOURSELF AND YOUR UNIT. A. You have the right to use force to proactively engage any and all ENY targets of opportunity. B. You are cleared to fire first on all hostile targets or targets with deemed hostile intent, including armed civilians. C. The force should be used under the circumstances and proportional to the threat. D. We are NOT at war. Mission: TF PEACEMAKER is to DESTROY ENY between PL PEACE and PL HARMONY as needed iot SEIZE OBJ GRIFFIN & HOLD OBJ for at least Fifteen (15) Minutes, IOT facilitate the Capture/kill of ENY HVT. III. Execution Concept of the Operation: Taskforce PEACEMAKER with 2 SECs TAC RESERVE, ATTACK from NORTHEAST to SOUTHWEST; conducting an attack by fire from PL PEACE towards PL HARMONY, and then ASSAULT to SEIZE OBJ GRIFFIN. Once SECURE, PREPARE HASTY Defence to HOLD Objective until SOF forces confirm Capture/kill: expected duration 15 minutes. This will DEFEAT the ENY and PREVENT further ENY offensive operations, achieving our immediate political goal. Commanders Intent Purpose - The purpose of this operation is to DESTROY the ENY forces in OBJ GRIFFIN, then OCCUPY, thus allowing FRIENDLY SOF forces to execute Capture/kill mission on ENY HVT. Key Tasks 1. Attack from PL PEACE towards PL HARMONY to DESTROY the ENY. 2. Seize and Clear OBJ GRIFFIN. 3. Conduct HASTY DEFENSE ITO DEFEAT ENY Counter Attacks 4. 7. D.O.W. Saturday Mission 8/10/16 @ GMT19:00 You can watch it live. You do NOT need Steel Beasts. http://www.twitch.tv/dogsofwarvu The Darkest Dreams by Lusik This scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message. Mission Summary : You have never thought it was going to happen. The darkest dreams came true. Something that we saw in our training films has suddenly become a brutal reality. 3 days ago Warsaw Pact forces advanced through the border in overwhelming force. The red tide that we have always been afraid of smashed our border outposts all along the front. The main push was through Fulda Gap but NATO forces have seen action all along the German-DDR border For the majority of soldiers in the company it is still is like a dream, which is visible in their young wide-open eyes. Luckily, the training and drills we have practiced for so long are taking over. Everybody knows what to do but the chaos is overwhelming. The horror... the horror…as Kurtz would say. How did it come to this? WW3 was sparked in the Middle East following combined NATO - Israeli strike on Syrian airbases. Airbases that were full of Soviet instructors and personnel. Over 120 Russians last their lives in the attack and several more were wounded. USSR treated this as act of open war and prepared a retaliatory strike in NATO air bases in Turkey. Dogfights between the the Soviet and NATO aircraft ensued resulting in several aircraft downed on both sides. UN summoned an emergency security council meeting, which was openly boycotted by USSR and China. Any attempts to find a peaceful solutions to the situation were overthrown. And then the attack came. Here in Germany, in our sector of the front, 2nd Cav have been fighting delaying action but suffered heavy losses. 2nd Armoured comes to the rescue. We are Task Force DOW which is compromised of mixed US German units. We were held in reserves but we have been finally sent to the front to face the enemy. We still have old but venerable M60s but our German allies sent them their newest baby - Leopard 2, along with some mechanised infantry in Marders. We are going to fight… and we know that for some of us this dream will be without awakening. Map Excerpts of the battalion commander's (HVAOC 6) orders for...BLUEFOR (D.O.W.) Task Force DOW is made of the following units: 2 platoons of M-60A3s (TTS) 1 platoon of M113A2s 1 platoon of Leopard 2A4s 1 platoon of Marders 3x M113 TOW support 2x M106 SPM 1x M88 Combat Engineering Vehicle 1x M113 Ambulance 2x Supply Trucks c) Attachments and detachments: 1x Battery of M109s with HE, Smoke and ICM 2x fire missions of FASCAM Due to difficult situation in several sectors of the front, no reinforcements are available. If you think that the enemy will break through, retreat and avid further losses. TERRAIN AND WEATHER: The terrain is typical for Saxony. Open areas with several hills. Try to find the best possible positions and defend Elze. Due to low pressure centre and a warm fron front that has been sitting here for the last two days the skies is fully overcast, which makes it difficult for us to use our aviation assets. Our forecast indicates that you may expect rain in the couple of hours. ******************************** ** Notes ** ******************************** SB Version: 4.004 64bit Mission Name: The darkest dreams Created by: Lusik Modified by: N/A Multi-Crew: Yes Single Crew: Yes Largest command: Company plus Smallest command:Crew Position Mission Duration: Up to 120 minutes depending on players Minimum number players: 5 Date: Saturday Mission 8/10/16 Time: 19:00 GMT Time (local): Click here Teamspeak IP: 74.91.127.204 wait in lobby for access to other areas. You do NOT need Steel Beasts. http://www.twitch.tv/dogsofwarvuMarines in the Storm by LusikThis scenario is a simulation and does not have any political message.Mission Summary :The last weeks have been damp and cold. It’ s not exactly the kind of weather you expected in the Middle East. We've been here since September and the only thing we have fought with so for was boredom. We have been away from our families, your friends and our life for too long. Last month, on the 17th the air offensive started. From what we have seen on CNN, Saddam took a heavy pounding but on the ground it’s been quiet… almost. At the end of last month Saddam forces made an attempt to take a Saudi town of Al-Khafji. Two of our recon units were trapped in the city for a couple of days but we let the Saudis to liberate they homeland a few days after. Two LAVs were lost due to friendly fire. You are part of Task Force Ripper, 2nd Marine Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine division. Our tanks have been mixed up with LAVs (NZLAV) to give you more flexibility. Our long wait has finally come to an end. Two days ago President Bush rejected Soviet peace plan and demanded Iraq begin withdrawal from Kuwait by noon Feb. 23 to avoid ground war. Iraqi information official branded U.S. position “shameful ultimatum and set one-sixte of Kuwait’s 950 oil wells ablaze. Today it’s the time to cross the border and liberate the country. MapMaps will be handed out to company commanders maximum 1 day before anticipated operation start time. ********************************** Notes **SB Version: 4.004 64bitMission Name: Marines in the StormCreated by: LusikModified by: N/AMulti-Crew: YesSingle Crew: YesLargest command: Company plusSmallest command:Crew PositionMission Duration: Up to 120 minutes depending on playersMinimum number players: 5Date: Saturday Mission 17/09/16Time: 19:00 GMTTime (local): Click here Teamspeak IP: 74.91.127.204 wait in lobby for access to other areas.Room: Dogs of WarYou can just listen if you wish by using Teamspeak.
