Gibsonm
Pretty sure Mk 5 through to Mk 11.Be aware though that Mks 6, 7, and 8 were earlier versions rebuilt to Mk 5 std.So in terms of feature set:Mk 5 (1970 - whenever rebuilt)Mk 9 (early 1980s)Mk 10 = Stillbrew armour (1985)Mk 11 = Stillbrew + TOGS (1988 - 1990) so I guess the "best".
Scrapper_511
Thanks Gibsonm. I wish I could narrow it down to the most prolific Mk in that time period.Edit: Ah, thanks for that update Gibsonm.
IrishHussar
Hi therehaving served in BAOR, May 82 - May 88, I can with authority, say that there were certain factors which influenced which units got certain marks of Cheiftan. So by far the biggest update during the 80's was the introduction of IFCS and the retrofitting of ammo stowage to accept Fin rounds, this was universal across the whole fleet and was introduced unit by unit.Challenger 1 started rolling out from 84 onwards and those units that were identified for its issue were not upgraded with Stillbrew or Cheiftan with TOGS.Hope this helps.Irish Edited December 15, 2015 by IrishHussar
