Query relating to 'under fire' alerts

Recommended Posts

I am playing a scenario I created in the editor which includes a significant amount of supporting infantry. After obtaining the initial 'under fire' alert from the AI infantry, is there any way of stopping/reducing the continuous warnings. I do not wish to switch off all of the audio altogether - just the ongoing 'under fire' alert.

Thanks in advance - and amerry Christmas and happy new year to all on the forum.

Do you need to be able to control the infantry? because if not you can right click them and set owner as computer (AI controlled) then you will not get a message. - But it also means you can not controll them any longer.

If you need to be able to control them yourself the answer is No.

The warning is actually a hint from the game that under normal circumstances the unit would vacate its current battle position, but that no exit route has been given.

So, you can change their battle position orders to "Hold", in which case they will fight to the last man and not complain ... at least not over the radio net.

Or, if you want to stick with "Defend" orders, then maybe it's a good idea to give these battlepositions an unconditioned (retreat) route to a secondary battle position.

I can only recommend to read, if not the entire user's manual, then at least Chapter 8 about the unit behavior and the implicit embark conditions. These are the fundamental "rules of the game" that you should know by heart because, well, following those rules will rid you of surprising or annoying troop behavior, at least to some degree.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
