WARNING ORDER

This Sunday's mission is something a bit different to our standard fare and more ambitious than usual.

When: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20160207T19&p1=%3A

TS server: teamspeak3.i3d.net:10077

CATASTROPHE FOR SWEDEN.

Soviet Forces have made a totally unexpected and unprovoked attack on Sweden. NATO has rushed NRF forces to oppose them, accepting Sweden as the 29th member of NATO in the process. The Swedes have done what they can to slow the Soviet advance but are under extreme pressure and being forced to fall back.

As soon as our Danish battlegroup arrives it will team up with 72nd Swedish Mech Inf Btn in order to stop the Soviet advance and start a counter attack. The C.O has driven all night and the situation is very confused. He has therefore had little opportunity to make detailed plans and must respond as best he can 'on the fly'.

This is a big scenario with a lot going happening on a big map with retreating Swedish forces scripted and visible in the 3D view. The C.O's situation will be simulated by posting the .sc file only few hours before mission start time which will allow him to do some terrain reconnaisance and draw up a rough plan - but not much more. In any case, the enemy's tactical intentions are unclear so he will have to react to their initiatives as best he can. A perfect opportunity for those who find the whole planning process a bit tedious! The scenario requires at least 12 players, and if we fall short we will save it for another day and run Panzer Leaders's CT Heavy Delay again.

If so, the emphasis will be on timely withdrawal, breaking contact and retreating in good order to be relieved by reinforcements. A full briefing for that mission can be found here: http://www.steelbeasts.com/sbforums/showthread.php?t=22391

But I would encourage as many people to attend if at all possible so that we can run the planned mission. You won't regret it.

A little off topic but, How the Hell can Sweden and Finland not be members of Nato?:c: Norway is and as far as I know the Russians are still around? IMO everything West of Russia should Be NATO.

Political issue. IMHO NATO is still dominated by the US, and US national interesst often coincide with that of other nations, often they don't. So beeing not part of the Club can sometimes be an asset.

Sweden and Finland are btw part of the EU defence system (Article 42 of the Lissabon treaty). Ok, the combined EU forces are still tiny compared to the US military, but its something :-P

And since Sweden kept its neutrality during WWII it has more or less kept to that strategy ever since, and the Swedish army have even bought MT-LB and BMP1s from a NATO country :clin:

and the Finnish relationship with Russia/Soviet union and the rest of the western world... well lets just say you have to be Finnish to understand that, they are very very nice people, but their foreign policy is complicated :icon_frown:

Hi guys

We still don't have a CO for this !

Swordsmandk and me have made this scenario so we would be a bad choice for it so anybody want to try it out.

The scenario is made so that you wont have to make big elaborate plans, more like the expression "fly by the seat of your pants" as it is a meeting engagement where everybody has been called in and arrive in the nick of time.

So anybody want to step up, be unprepared and just do it , like it was meant to be done ? (Aka no map recon other then the published maps and the published briefing)

And anybody is welcome, if you like us Danes/Germans are English speaking impaired and can bring a full platoon of guys you just need 1 who can be on the command net.

If you are English speaking and want a full platoon that's doable as well.

By the way we have 2 polish speaking players who is seeking mates so they can get their own full platoon.

But we need a CO for this so anybody ?
