Zantar
I've noticed that The T-72M and T-72M1 gun barrels jump instantly from the loading position to the firing position. There is no animation in between these states. The non-crewable T series tanks do not do this, nor does the T-62 which also has a set loading angle. This is very odd. Any idea why those two tanks in particular behave that way?
Grenny
It seems to drop down rather quickly.Hmm, bug or feature?
Rotareneg
Feature:Good observation but no, that is not a bug, it is feature. It was due to the complaint that the T-72 was reloading too slowly. The way it works on the real T-72 is that once the gun is loaded the gun will get released and will drop/free fall, then a brake engages to stop the drop -- the time it takes to drop to ready position is nearly instantaneous. However, in the past we were depressing the gun by its normal elevation rate which meant that the gun would take one or two more seconds to get into firing position than it should have. For technical reasons, at the moment we can only have the gun depress at the normal rate OR immediately, any other behavior to make it look pretty requires extensive work. So, even thought it might not look so good we decided to go with the lesser of two evils and have the gun drop instantly to get the correct reload time, because those several lost seconds often mean the death of the T-72, and because the actual gun drops nearly instantly anyway.
Maj.Hans
Seems like a good compromise to me. Besides, if youve got the time to look at pretty animations youre probably dead already!
