UAVs in Steel Beasts will always need a human operator to do anything.

A computer-controlled UAV that would automatically report everything AND call artillery fire on everything it sees ... you don't want that, trust me.

But as long as the computer's perception model doesn't adequately mimic a human operator's eye, AND as long as don't have proper camouflage elements to simulate concealment ...


Well, our answer is that it's better to put an actual human being behind the camera with all the limitations that he may have (detecting and identifying valid targets, then calling effective fire on those positions).
