RENEGADE-623
I'm surprised no one has mentioned the edit model choice on the menu
Rotareneg
I figured it was something to do with being a test/dev release or something like that.
Members Ssnake
Yes, it definitely doesn't belong to the release version.
Gibsonm
Well the video looks nice!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7MFvmXPq_g  https://youtu.be/A7MFvmXPq_g  The rain / snow / sleet looks good as do the power lines.  Edited April 26, 2016 by Gibsonm Trying to embed the video - guess a URL will have to do. :(

Marko
Possibly to early to ask such questions but will the new weather effects effect sighting systems IE, obscure there view etc.
Apocalypse 31
Any chance that there's a gunner position for the player on these helicopters?  The new models look good. Edited April 26, 2016 by Apocalypse 31

Excellent just what I was hoping for  for the real world tankers does adverse weather effect laser range finders I have heard heavy fog can effect them.
Members Ssnake
Yes, it does (in real life). Will it in Steel Beasts? I don't know. Then again, you don't lase what you can't see to begin with, so maybe it's a moot point in this context.
Major duck
In my experience snow and ice don't have much effect on thermic scopes (Artillery ones portable) as there are still a big difference between targets and the surrounding landscape but rime have a very negative effect as it cools every surface and in the air down in a whole other way with vapor on the surface in effect making everything the same temperature , otherwise it have to snow really really heavy like a whiteout in the arctic regions otherwise it dossent effect TIS in the ranges we use.  This is with technology from the 1990is and forward and lately in the 2010s i have had it on the Danish 800 class patrol boats where i were the xo in the naval homeguard crew and then it was the same when we search for people both live and on exercises.  Edited April 26, 2016 by Major duck

Members Ssnake
No, I never touched that function. It's for the artists only, to try out their work before it's handed off to the programmers for integration.
Apocalypse 31
A summary of what we know so far...because I have no idea whats coming in 4.0.  1. New force templates for the Mission Editor http://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/10354-sb-pro-pe-40-the-new-features-thread/?do=findComment&comment=150058  2. No new Map Editor http://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/10340-fng-educate-me/?do=findComment&comment=149910  3. New map relief features for the Mission Editor http://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/10355-sb-pro-pe-40-discussion-thread/?do=findComment&comment=150068  4. Snow effects https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7MFvmXPq_g  5. New Mi8/Mi17, and a new variant of Mi24 - none of which are 'playable' (players cannot manually gun). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7MFvmXPq_g http://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/10355-sb-pro-pe-40-discussion-thread/?do=findComment&comment=150242  6. Self Recovery is now possible of like-weighted vehicles http://www.steelbeasts.com/topic/10355-sb-pro-pe-40-discussion-thread/?do=findComment&comment=150267  New powerlines in the video? 1:26 mark  Not that I'm checking my email religiously for updates or anything.  A few follow on questions 1. I didn't see any heat effects for the choppers - does that mean we aren't getting the particle system, or is heat not modeled for vehicles yet? 2. The cargo Mi8 - will it be able to resupply units? I see ammo racks in the back - is that just artwork? Edited April 26, 2016 by Apocalypse 31
Members Ssnake
The video doesn't show much particle stuff, but even then, no heat blur particles in the initial release. The boxes in the Mi-8 rear are just artwork. I'd be hard pressed to make a statement whether the landed helicopter has an actual resupply function right now, I'll have to check that. Â Right, one more thing: All (military) (land) vehicles can tow other vehicles in the same weight class now.

Rotareneg
Is the night sky in the intro sequence an actual in-game effect or just clever video editing? Edited April 26, 2016 by Rotareneg
