Gun fired missile behavior (4.00)

I set up a test scenario after seeing some strange behavior, confirmed that the BMP-3 still fires the old fireball missile graphic. Furthermore, the T-80 can't seem to hit with its ATGM, either it shoots the missile high up into the sky and it dives back down into the ground short of the target or the missile flies in a straight line and then just drops short of the target, but never hits. Other vehicles which can gun fire missiles might also show one or two of these problems, haven't tested any others.

The setup:

BMP-3 and T80 are placed about 3km from two M1A1s, blind, showing their side profiles. Flat ground, no line of sight obstructions, visibility set to 6 km.

Just tested the T-80 against an M1A2(HA). Seems like the missile has a max range of about 1500 meters. After the first two shots it looks like the AI tries to compensate by lobbing the missile, still falls to the ground before it hits the target.

Update: Did the same with a T-90 it seems that the AT-11's are limited to about 1500 meters. The AT-8 can hit the target at 2000 meters, but that one still looks like the "Glowing Orange Basketball Of Death".

Thanks, we will check that out (AI gunner behavior).

Regarding the "fireball", it in itself is not a bug. If a 3D missile is not created or assigned then the fire ball is used.

Not every missile has a 3D model. The AT-8 and AT-10 fit this category, and they really look different enough that we can't reuse an existing model. So, it uses the old "fireball" - which is intentional. Essentially, if we don't have the model then the fallback is the fireball rather than not showing anything at all.
