Infantry Ready versus Stored ammunition

With 4.0/04 I've been playing around with infantry and their small arms and anti-armour configuration a lot more to make them as historically and doctrinally correct as I can. One question: in terms of game mechanics, how is Ready and Stored small arms ammunition treated?  For example, if I have a simulated M249 SAW gunner in a rifle squad with 100 Ready rounds and 700 Stored, how does the game treat 'Ready' versus 'Stored'?  My assumption is there may be a delay accessing Stored (e.g. accessing the rounds from packs, other squad members etc.) but it may also be something completely different.

I suspect that right now there is no recognizable delay due to ammo management. But one day we might implement it.

Thanks Ssnake, good to know. I'll probably continue to use it, at least as much as it makes sense or I can be bothered, to help future proof things (backward comparability being a trademark of eSim releases, and much appreciated).
