A little late, but on October 3rd, 1990...

Recommended Posts

On October 3rd, 1990, after 40 years of separation and tension, east and west Germany reunited.

Since Steel Beasts has had so much focus on that 40 year time frame since the earliest days, it seems only fitting to be mentioned here.

So is that the true end of the Second World War, with the occupation ending?

No, more like the end of the First Cold War.

One of the big regrets in my life is that I didn't just quit my job (which I subsequently did), jump in my car and drive across Europe to be there when the wall came down. Just having been there at such a momentous time in history would have been worth a little hardship. There's  a site by a Dutch(?) chap who drove around many Soviet and NVA airfields in Eastern Europe immediately after the wall came down and took what were, at the time, amazing photos.

Not taking anything away from the momentous moment. the wall came down

I stayed up all night watching it happen.

But they were still selling bits of the berlin wall ten years later, (If you were a cynical type of guy).

You mite strongly suspect some of which came from a building site in stuttgart. LoL

My brother brought me a little piece of the wall after he went there for his job.  Aside from the graffiti paint, it's wholly unremarkable and worth about 10 secs as a conversational piece.

Worked with a top musical promotor in my area. On a promotion trip to Germany Pink Floyed was giving pieces of the wall to known promotores along with a Lego type wall with there name on it.
