ashdivay
Hi , I am just curious , does SB Pro PE have a dedicated server exe available? Like ARMA has a dedicated server exe file which has scripts and config file that need to be edited before server is run on a hardware that does not have GPU. Since it does not render the graphics on the server side ,GPU is not required on it. Are there plans for such solution ?
Gibsonm
Yes there is a server exe. However the main difference AFAIK is that it has the 8 user cap removed when hosting a session. Apart from that it runs just like the normal version

Administrators Sean Posted December 14, 2016 Administrators Share Posted December 14, 2016 Sorry, no dedicated server right now. A gpu is required.
Members Ssnake
...but it could be something simple as an Intel integrated graphics. If you keep it switched to the briefing screen performance wouldn't be much of an issue, actually.
ashdivay
thank you all for your response , I went out and bought a HP NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 GFX 2 GB PCIe x8 Graphics Card which is compatible with the PCIe x8 slot on my Dell Poweredge R610 server. its also low profile and fits perfectly inside my server. http://www.ebay.com/itm/282256000611?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Now , lets see if i can get it to work.
AlphaOneSix
I'm curious about this as well. I've tossed around the idea of using an Amazon AWS server instance to host games...

I am assuming you will be sharing your SB license via VPN ? As for my project : So a GPU or CPU (with integrated graphics) is required. running a stand alone non graphical SB server is out of the question. I attempted to with the above configuration . My server is running ESXi5.5 hyper-visor with 2 Xeon CPUs and 40 GB RAM. I did a PCI card passthrough for the GPU. on it , i have VM running win 7 with 2 CPU cores and 8 GB ram was setup. I updated the Guest OS on VM with directx and windows update Installed Gforce drivers for the GPU. installed SB pro PE. Attempted to run SB Pro PE. BANG !!!!! it blow up with a error msg "No direct 3d device found" Now today i will go thru the logs and online resources to find an answer ! This is why there should be a stand-alone non graphical dedicated server.(Not complaining ! I know its not a priority and y'all are busy.) Its not a big deal ! if everything else fails i will install it on my other server which has i5 cpu (which has integrated graphics). ashdivay
So i was able to achieve a sort of server solution on a different server with i5 CPU. As long as CPU has integrated graphics , VM will run SB. One day perhaps ,We should have dedicated-standalone non graphics rendering server for SB. It will make things much simpler, especially in VDI environments of today.
