Grenny
Greetings I used FRAPS and windows movie maker on my laptop. On my new maschine I wanted to go for the same combo, but the latest version of the moviemaker seem to be unable to open *.avi files. Or am i doing something wrong? What would be an alternative software??
Red2112
If your video card is a nVidia you can use "Shadow Play" which comes with the nVidia soft. You can also try XSplit (free version) https://www.xsplit.com/?lang=1 For editing, try CyberLink Power Director 15 (it also comes with a screen capture soft). They usualy have sales very often and you could pick it up for 40$. No pro here mind you, it´s just what I use.
Members Ssnake
I'm using Corel Video Studio X9 (...although the latest "service pack" has created way more problems than it solved).
Grenny
I' ll have to look into it some more...seem like the codecs the latest fraps uses, are not compatible with the latest movimaker.

K-Lite Codex Pack is regularly updated.
Red2112
Beside "X-Split" (above) which is free, I have also found another freeware app that works pretty good and is very versatile... Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) https://obsproject.com/ Works like a charm!
Mirzayev
I record with Shadow Play. I edited my earlier videos with Lightworks, but it proved to be much more complex than what I needed. I currently use Wondershare Filmora. It works for what I need it to do, and has some nice built-in upload to YouTube features.
