I just ordered the above UO :)

I find the system very interesting, will see how I can figure out a way to solo it.  There is one solo/co-op scenario included, so that might help to figure out how to apply it to other gameplay.

The designer Sébastien de Peyret, is a ex French (MOUT) Infantry trainning officer...

BTW I do consider this to be one of those outstanding Divisional Actions of WW2. I enjoyed this book:

Some other interesting stuff to tankers  and wargamers re Balck:

A DOD panel (which included James Dunnigan) brings in Balck and Mellethin to wargame out a US  3rd Armored Division defense against a Warsaw Pact assault and assess tactics. Sort of like having Jimmy Page sit in for a guitar jam session:

Much enjoyed this read! Thank you @Los.

Most likely I will get the book also mentioned.  In the above doc it´s mentioned that Balck was working on his "war dairy", or is "Order in Chaos" a translated version of such war dairy?

This might be a good read too from Mellenthin...

Panzer Battles: A Study of the Employment of Armor in the Second World War

BTW, it´s this James F. Dunnigan?

Following with the 14th Corps at Salerno, I will be posting my gameplay of "Piercing Fortress Europe" soon.

Again thanks Los!

Very nice. OI have run several extensive multimonth pbem campaigns with a number of guys, both in the ACW and 1866 time frame and used self developed tools for the  most part.(Battles resolved on various platforms depending on what we wanted to do.)  They have been outstanding gaming experiences and illuminating to the challenges of command in those periods.  General Staff would be a nice addition to the tool box.

Also here are guys working on a similar ww2 type version. Whats nice about this is you can output potential battles to various formats: Combat Missions, ASL etc or resolve them in game and also input the results of battles back in the engine. This is the holy grail for me. Imagine you are doing a modern version of this Nato vs Warsaw pact and resolving some battles with Steel beasts, maybe some with microarmor, etc. Multi platform gaming!

In our gaming group we are always framing all our operations in campaigns, this way it means something. We also tie thecampaigns in so whether we are playing Arma3, Steel Beasts, DCS, miniatures or mapex/wargaming, they are tied to the same campaign so this is exciting stuff forour future gaming operations.

Yes "General Staff" dose look promising, will see, might just back up this project.

Your approach with multi-platform campaigns sounds right interesting, I like the idea.  Main problem I see, for some, is the ability to have/play and be proficient in the platforms in use, but for me I see it as a great Idea! I can see a Combined Ops situation with SB, DCS and Arma very easy to get into, also with Combat Mission xx and some hex games  could fit the bill aswell as you stated, even iL-2, Steel Fury (or Panzer Elite) and Iron Front could make the WWII era!  Overall a great Idea and Iniciative, I bet your group has a great time!  Thank you for sharing Los!

On my end, Iam trying to keep my mind busy lately, so I got two new games in from BGG today in the mail, Avalon Hill´s "Firepower" (1984), a very interesting man-to-man (squad) tactical game, and West End Game´s "West Front Tank Leader" (1987), another interesting game with focus on C3 (Command, Control, Communications) with some CDG in it. Compass Games might re-master this game as it´s quite good. Also "Urban Operations" (Nuts) will be in this Friday, so very busy.  Will post as I absorb as much as I can regarding the above.

Meanwhile, a Interview with Mark Herman...

Now that´s what I call being "in-sync"! :D

So, how are you liking UO and are you playing solo, if so how?  I haven´t had time to get into it yet, been reading the "West  Front Tank Leader" rules which I just picked up, and a little bit of "Firepower" (Avalon Hill) which I also just got (BGG).  This also came in...

It´s a wargame holiday for me so quite busy!

Glad Iam not alone! Thanks Los!!!
